2nd stop of the date night was to Happy Feet. I HIGHLY recommend calling ahead to schedule an appointment since they may not have enough workers. Most of these massage places share workers, which is why they open in clusters, so that they can ask workers who aren't busy at another location to come help out if they get busy. I love getting reflexology and foot massages ever since I went to Shanghai and Beijing and they brought it over to Southern California. These massage places are not shady rub and tugs, they have blackout curtains and window coverings to create a soothing atmosphere inside. They utilize all the space available so, it's usually a large room set up with many massage chairs and a couple of private rooms as well. These places are extremely affordable with prices ranging from $15/hour depending on competition and available workers in Southern California. They're also open late with some closing at midnight, so a lot of service workers like waiters use them to get some pain relief after a shift. Here in El Paso, it averages $35/hour. In Houston it averaged $25/hour. The massage consists of a foot soak in extremely hot water which they bring to you in a bucket. If you pick the combo, they start massaging your feet with lotion and will be so detailed, they will work on individual toes. After 30 mins, they flip you over and there's a hole you rest your face on, with sanitary covers they change for each guest. They will cover you in towels and massage you fully clothed thru them. Usually it's a deep pressure massage using elbows and fists, which I love, but others ask for less pressure. 30 minutes later you're done. Sometimes they massage your face and hands, but it seems they only do that with the table massage in the private rooms. This is done in an open space with all the others so you might hear snoring or someone paying. This place is good with making sure the noises are kept to a minimum. The workers won't speak English, mostly Mandarin but it depends on what part of China they come from, sometimes the accent is so thick I can't understand them and vice versa, so don't feel bad if they don't understand. They ask for tips very aggressively because the deal with the owners is usually a flat fee for every person but it's barely enough so they survive off tips. They come to expect a living wage with the tips, so for instance if you get a $35/hour massage (cash price) you should tip $10 because they get $10 for the person massaged and then $10 tip to make up the difference. It's just how they earn a living and send money back to their families. I still think it's extremely affordable for an hour deep tissue massage. This place is clean and the workers don't smell like smoke or talk on their phones while massaging you. We enjoyed our massage and tipped them the expected amount and had no issues. Come out and try it for yourself! It's a little self care that goes a long way. They match us up with the best carer available by interviewing not only the babysitter but us as well to make sure it's a compatible match. I explained that my kids loved to bake and draw and create art and they matched us with a wonderful babysitter who spent the night creating art with my kids. She fed them, got them showered, and ready for bed so that when we came back, the kids had spent their energy and were good and sleepy! We had a great night and so did the kids! We used their services a while back for my sister in laws wedding, but this is the first time we used them at our house. We were nervous but she regularly messaged us and let us know the status of what they were up to. She was prompt and communication was wonderful. We'll definitely use her and the service again!

Let me say that I hope to change this rating. I'd been a frequent (weekly or bi weekly most of the time) customer here for several years. The staff is generally impeccably polite and it's rare that you can't walk in and be seen with a decent expediency. In any therapy situation, different employees have different strengths and talents, so I often hope for the therapist that I think of a Mr. Smiling Bear. He's just full of good energy, really understands body mechanics and does a fantastic job getting everything worked through and aligned. Tonight was, quite literally one of the worst massages I've ever had. A newer, younger gentleman was my therapist, I think perhaps he was the manager on duty as he called his boss to check a scheduling thing and also regularly "paused" the massage to check his cell phone. Eh... Not very professional, but sometimes you have to reply for work related things. I consistently get a #8 combo massage - every therapist is a bit different, but this was a mess. The soak water was tepid, he did a good job with the myofascial/cranial massage, but then put a piece of tissue over my eyes and... Left... Normally, a chilled eye mask is plopped on and it's lovely and relaxing. I thought maybe he needed to go get one - no such luck... Just random tissue, more cell phone time, then a moderately rough transition to the foot massage. It was... Fine, I guess... He seemed distracted (again, cell phone causing delays), but it was mostly OK. At the end of the for massage there is always some work on the quads, lower thighs and calfs... He started - half-heartedly pushed on my quads maybe 3 times, then left to prepare the other table. Maybe he's uncomfortable giving massages to other males? Maybe he's just terrible at pacing and time... This alone would have probably gotten 3 stars. What happened next was nothing short of dangerous and I probably should have called a stop and left. Nearly EVERY stroke on the back started directly with an elbow or arm bone directly ON the upper spinal column. To the point that the bone on bone pressure sent me spasming over and over. I said - "please stop putting pressure directly on my spine, it hurts." I don't think he understood or cared. Compound this to him slamming his forearm directly into my ear, neck or the side of head? I have lower back tension issues relating to hamstring damage, and he did an OK job working through those issues. Finally, at some point, the therapist always asks you to turn over to get better access to the shoulders etc. Nope... Stayed face down the whole time. So, here we are... My spine feels angry - I'll probably need to go visit my chiropractor on Monday. Between spinal tension and having my head battered over and over, I have a full on migraine brewing, and I feel way worse than when I walked in. This is the ONLY time I've every had a bad experience - I should have asked for his name to make sure he never gets assigned to he again, but I was fuming the whole time I spent getting ready to leave and pay.

I am obsessed with good massages and happy feet doesn't disappoint! TBH I was a little bit skeptical before going from the open layout, super cheap price, and signs that say "we do the massage with clothes on" lol but I was definitely pleasantly surprised! Since my first time going I've gone back at least 4 other times, and have always had a great experience. They advertise the cheapest options on the outside of the door but I promise you want to pay a few dollars more to get more time on the table for the deep tissue body massage, its so worth it!  I will give a warning that the deep tissue body massages are very deep tissue! I let them know I want it softer every time before starting and there are still times during the massage where I have to ask for less pressure.

As soon as you step in you get this vibe of calmness and relaxation; they have products to sell and the decoration and music makes it already a nice place. Since it was my first time there they gave me a form to fill with all my concerns and to be very specific about my goals with this session: I was looking to get rid of this pain in my back I was there for a massage but they also offer facials and waxing services. They walked me in 5 minutes later and I got the massage with Jorge we had a small talk just to confirm the service and specifics of the massage and he stepped out for me to get ready for the massage. The room was candle lit and with some very relaxing music and birds sounds. The whole massage was amazing and Jorge was so kind and extremely professional, I've never had a massage performed by a man and being a woman I felt so relaxed and enjoyed the service because he made me feel comfortable and was courteous and professional. He was asking questions making sure he was delivering the right pressure and was feeling good for me. At the end they gave me a water and I was extremely pleased. I definitely want to come back to try the other type of massages they offered.

This one is purely 60 min of uninterrupted foot massaging bliss. The woman who rubbed my feet was really good and I felt like a new person walking out of their shop at the end. My friend and coworker who lives nearby was floored by how relaxing it was. The foot massage takes place in an open area where you will be seated in a very comfy chair with ottoman. You get the typical 5-10 min foot soak before they get to work on your feet. It was so relaxing both of my friends fell asleep by the middle of the session. Can't say enough good things about the massage here! I called ahead of time to make sure they could take all 3 of us and they were very accommodating. We were there right up until closing and they didn't rush us out or anything. I look forward to returning in the future!

I killed some time and came in about 925. I hadn't been here before, so I wanted a few extra moments to look over the services menu etc. Perhaps it was the time or available staff, but the registrar only pointed to a 1 hr foot massage or a 1 hour full body massage. I chose full body. I was led back to a clean, tidy room and was told (mild language barriers) to hang my jacket up, to lie down and to put the "towel" (thin, somewhat slippery fabric) on my back. I should say now, I am a regular massage client due to some past injuries and work stress - most places guide new clients through the level of disrobing expected. After a short internal debate I decided that this was a standard Swedish style setup despite the smaller, slippery covering and disrobed to the standard (at least in EP) underwear only level. I should add that new therapy locations give me mild anxiety over several unpleasant/awkward experiences with "less professional" establishments. No such problem here despite some unusual choices by the therapist later in the session to use arms and knees at the came time by balancing on top of me. It was strange, but didn't feel inappropriate. The therapist was pretty good overall, though she left the session 20 minutes in with no warning and came back a few minutes later with hot stones and steaming hot towels. My back was being resistant and she wanted to try heat to get better results - but I wasn't expecting it, so it was a shock. I definitely liked it and will consider hot stone massage again on the future. The therapist seemed to only do a cursory job on hands, legs and feet, but again, my back was a mess. After a perfectly fine frontal massage (again, very little hand, foot leg attention), the session was over. I was annoyed to see the clock in the room showing 10:14. I took the photo after I was dressed and ready to go pay. Glad not to have been unwittingly up charged for hot stones, but it was still a 45 minute session that was meant to be an hour. Terrible massage? No... It was fine. The whole experience? A bit awkward and disappointing. Will I come back here? Probably not.
