My son recently took his truck to Pierre a few weeks ago for a checkup since the truck was running weird. He supposedly did a thorough check up but missed the most important thing, his brakes. The transmission cable, AC fan blades and fluids were all taken care of. Man we thought we found our new mechanic, as we all know a good mechanic is hard to find. And although he was a little pricey we were ok with that. Three after my son was hearing loud noises coming from the front brakes, we took it back and now he wants three thousand dollars to do all four brakes. The issues isn't the money, it's the fact that he put a 21 yr old on the road with a truck not knowing if his brakes worked. They did some work on my car and afterwards engine was making a noise. They claimed not to hear it and also that its a normal sound, which one is it? Got all 3 of them to gaslight me that nothing was wrong. Sound didn't go away, my wife can hear it as well. Light Skin Dragon is so not happy about this place and if I had fire breath I would blast this place. I got a email from triple a about a complementary service inspection and so I found this mechanic on their list. I made an apt on Thursday for this upcoming Monday when I know it's my day off. The owner called me back Friday to confirm for this appointment for Monday @2pm. It was convenient for me because it was 2 miles away. So I drove there and it's a very small shop in a corner. Had about 5 cars in the drive way. And it was hard looking for parking in the area. So once I got there I went in to see about my appointment which I was 10 min before my appointment time. The gentleman at the desk ask for my name and I said it's Cedrick and I have an appointment for 2pm. Than he which said he's to busy to see me and that he called me Saturday and left a voicemail. I would understand it's busy and to reschedule but to lie to me and I pulled my phone up to show him I never received a missed call or a voicemail from him. Not a best way to do business with a future customer. I would not tell my friends about this place because he did not have integrity and honesty. This is the absolute best mechanic in town! This was my first time working with this shop and I was really amazed. The work done was so clean and they thoroughly explained every step of the fix! He was friendly, professional and so nice, that I felt like I had known him for years and was part of his family. He called the next day, told me what his technitions had found to get the car up and running. But because of his professionalism I asked him to check a few other things (I bought it new when I was just a kid, and she's 44 years old this year and want to keep her in top shape). I went here based on convenience and the fact that it is a AAA shop. My car wouldnt start and it ended up being the computer. I definitely could have saved hundreds going to another shop but since the customer service was good and I needed my car I had Happy Engine replace. Shortly after, I noticed my AC was in and out and decided to do a AAA 40 point inspection. I told the owner I was having problems with my AC and he came back with a whole list of things I needed to replace or fill- none of which had to do with my AC. He did another oil change even though I just had one 2 months earlier. When I asked about my AC he said the mechanic check and nothing was wrong. 1 week later, my car overheated and was leaking coolant. I would not recommend this place for service, you dont want to be out thousands like I am. read more

My experience was one of those where a woman needs car repairs and as soon as she walks in, they figure she's dumb and will take advantage of her. That's just what they did to me. I ended up paying a whole bunch of money for something that left the car running the same as it had been before. The only reason I won't take it back is because I don't want to see those clowns' faces. I think the worst part was when I had already paid with my debit card and then they decided to do something extra, for another $50.00. I barely had a few dollars in my purse, but that was my fault since I went across to McDonald's and spent more than I should have. The nerve though, telling me they could not allow me to take my car until every cent was paid. How greedy, and poor customer service to boot. The balance was very little and I had to use almost the last bit left in my account until the next pay day, which was not for another few days. I really should report them to the Better Business Bureau and I still might. Watch out! I have an old 2000 Nissan which needed a front motor mount. Pierre gave me an estimate of over $400.00 for the part and installation. I told Pierre that my car doesn't need an original Nissan part for this and he said it's not an original Nissan part. After looking up the part online at Autozone, O'Riley's and other sites, and discovering that a non-Nissan new part for that runs between $5.00 and $50.00, I called and asked Pierre for the make and model no. of the part he wants to use in my car. He would NOT answer me. I called again and asked him the same question. Again, he would NOT answer me. So I called triple AAA because I'm a member and asked them if a part is going in my car, don't I have the right to know the make, model and price of that part?? AAA said, "of course you do. Get another mechanic!" And I did get another mechanic who is honest and decent, and replaced the part and installed it for exactly $120.00!!! Folks, be careful and always look up the part online. I took my 2005 Ford Crown Vic to them on 08/17/18 because I was having transmission problems. I was very pleased with how courteous and professional their staff was, and how they resolved the issue. First, a mechanic rode with me so he could experience the problem firsthand to make an assessment. They also ran a diagnostic and then advised me that they believed it was a transmission pan issue. It turned out that the transmission pan had never been cleaned (149,000+ miles) and the pan gasket had to be replaced. They solved my issue the same day and I have had no further issues (7 months and 6,000 miles later). I am so glad that I found Happy Engine Auto Repair in Mission Hills and gave them a chance to work on my classic muscle 1957 Chevy Belair. I just don't take it to anyone! This place is outstanding in not only that they are friendly, extremely honest and experts in working on this type of car. I was told by others that I needed major work done to correct a terrible oil leak. They narrowed it down to the valve covers and fixed them and power washed the undercarriage to be sure there wasn't anymore leaks. So far, NO LEAKS!! They are so honest and informed me along the way of all the costs. I was so impressed by the cleanliness of the shop and all the offices and even the bathroom! Also extremely important to me is that once your car is in a service bay, you can't see it from the street. That put me at ease for safety reasons. Pierre and Joseph are as nice as can be. While on the 5 South in the carpool lane this past Monday afternoon, my car started sputtering (best word I can think of). I was heading to LAX so limped onto the 405 South and exited Rinaldi Street. They were actually closed at this time (6:00 pm) but when I called to see if I could catch them for my car to be dropped off, they said they would wait for me! Upon arrival and me jumping out of the tow truck, I was warmly greeted by Pierre and Joseph! A thoughtful handshake from both gave me the feeling they want to please their customers. They "signed" me in and noted diagnostics would be run in the early a.m. and they'd call as soon as they knew the problem. Sure enough, early the next morning I received a call from Pierre who didn't go directly into the car problems with me but actually said "good morning LuAnne ~ how is your day going so far"? It felt good to be greeted "with a smile" through the phone call. The car issue was what I thought ... fuel pump went out. I gave them the ok to go ahead and fix it after we went over a thorough review of parts and labor costs. By end of the day, I had another nice phone call from Pierre who said my car was up and running but he did have one other question ... had I had my fuel filter changed recently. To that I said I didn't really recall. He explained that it was pretty clogged and only "suggested" it was the best thing to change it at this time with the new fuel pump but that it was up to me. Of course, I did. They also checked fluid levels and topped off a couple of other things. What a pleasant experience from start to finish! I'll be heading that way again should I have car issues! The owner (forgot his name, but he had a heavy arab accent), held my car tor a day and claimed--after an $88 alleged "diagnosis"--that I had major issues with my engine that needed to be fixed to get my car running, including overhauling the engine for over $1000. He failed to explain how the car's ignition and battery were tied to this major repair and insisted that I repair the issue at his shop. I declined his sage advice and utmust concern for my best interest (sarcasm added.) The owner was obnoxious by the way. I took my Toyota Camry to my mechanic who replaced my battery for under a hundred bucks and now my car runs well. There was no need for the major repairs suggested by Happy Engine. My boyfriend found this place for me via YELP of course and I have brought my car here 3 times and each time very satisfied. They are very friendly and HONEST!!! Please do not judge by previous reviews. They tell you up step by step what they recommend and they do not force you do the repair right then but only recommend and when I ask if something I need to get done right now they are honest so I have time to come back and do it at a later time when I have the money. I have had my car now over 5 years so of course wear and tear comes with a price. After getting quotes and recommendations from Happy Engine, we did our own research and contacted different shops for prices and the price quoted was more than fair and if you become a valued customer and regular they give you extra love...
