I am so happy to see a good dumpling place in the Upper Valley! Definitely a good option for a quick lunch when in the area. It's fairly bare-bones with plastic ware and chopsticks plus shallow cardboard cups to eat from. Some simple soy-based and chili oil based sauces in little plastic containers to go with it. I think they should add other staples like scallion pancakes and fried rice so that you can make a little bit more of a meal but we enjoyed it as is. read more

Amazingly delicious and fresh dumplings!! This is the best dumplings in New England!! The dumplings were so beautifully made and perfectly boiled. Boiled dumplings are the most authentic and difficult to make, because it is so simple, if the ingredients are not fresh, or the skills of wrapping and boiling are not good, it will not taste good. This place perfect the dumplings! It tasted so good almost tasted like home made dumplings! The pork bun was so crispy, flaky, and the meat was so juicy and delicious, the chives inside were so green and fresh! We almost fight over this port bun. But because I'm the nice person so I give the half bun to my partner and had more dumplings instead. Very nice and clean restaurant. Very efficient and friendly services. Super family friendly. We really enjoyed the excellent counter service here. The person I was eating with didn't like the sweet soy or the hot chili oil (I loved both) so I asked them if we could have a side of the sesame peanut sauce that is used on the cold peanut noodles. Although it was an extra request, they were able to accommodate me. They quickly brought out a side cup of the sesame sauce. Note: you simply order at the counter kiosk and then pick up your food there. But the attendant who packs the food is easily available - with a helpful disposition - to answer questions while you are at the kiosk ordering. The Steamed Pork & Chive Dumplings (10) were delicious. They were juicy inside and had a nice, mild - but very present - flavor. I recommend them steamed unless you like the pan-fried style that look more like the coating of an egg roll instead of how they would look if you actually pan fried the steamed dumplings, ie with a light brown, crispy sear around the edges. The soy sauce is a classic, sweet dumpling sauce. It's very good! Adding the hot Spicy Chili Oil to the Steamed Pork & Chive Dumplings is highly recommended if you like a mild heat. The Spicy Chili Oil Dumplings (10) were good, but they didn't open the heavens for me. These dumplings didn't have the bang factor I was looking for but they were very flavorful and tasty. I wanted more of an intense taste inside, ie garlic, ginger and/or some kind of zing. I do not know what the broth base was but it was fine. I asked an employee what the broth was, ie beef? He wanted to find out but the he got too busy. . We enjoyed the family atmosphere there. We saw two bamboo bowls of steamed soup dumplings come out and the looked delicious. I would like to try them if I return. The Dan Dan noodles and cold sesame peanut noodles would be two other things to try. I might add a hint of sugar to the sesame sauce to sweeten it a bit. We've been here many times and have always left satisfied! Portions are generous. Everything we've tried has been delicious. Pork Soup dumplings, pan fried chive dumplings, beef noodle soup, spicy pork noodle soup, spicy Dan-dan noodle soup, and the spicy burning dry noodle soup with pork. We have enjoyed each dish and can't pick a favorite so we just go with what we are in the mood for. In time, we will probably try the whole menu! Service is very friendly and its quick. Even when it's busy, we are still in and out quickly, it's a no frill sit restaurant with some bar seating and tables. Self-serve but they sometimes deliver your food out as well. I've enjoyed everything I've eaten there from their tasty dumplings (xiao long bao/soup dumplings, steamed dumplings, spicy dumplings, fried dumplings), soup and dry noodle dishes, popcorn chicken, egg, and Chinese hamburger (pork is my favorite!). The food is tasty, fresh, made quickly, and reasonably priced. The folks who work here are fantastic and friendly and the atmosphere is great too. It's a bright and cheery space. Pork and leek pan fried dumplings were darkly fried to perfection. They tasted a lot like fried wontons. Juicy and yummy. Dan Dan noodle soup probably wasn't authentic Szechuan--as if I would know. But it was delicious! Spicy but not mind or mouth numbingly so, fresh cilantro, chewy fresh slightly sweet noodles, and a heavenly broth. So good! I wanted to finish......... I was defeated. The place kind of runs itself. You pay at a machine, they call a number, you clean your own place. Very informal. There was a lady who might be the owner (or at least manager) sitting at a table, kind of incognito. I wanted to tell her how much I loved the place. We will stop here again. There are not too many options to pick from, but the options they offered are very good. There were lots of people in line at night, and food was served very slowly (we waited for more than an hour). Second time in a week! Steamed pork dumplings are unctuous and generously filled. The dumplings are pillowy soft but nicely chewy. The pork and chive dumpling explodes in your mouth with delicious flavor and texture. 10 are in a serving and one needs to be hungry to finish it. Ditto all the portion sizes. The beef noodle soup and spicy beef noodle soup (separate dishes) look scrumptious. Maybe next time. Delicious, surprisingly not heavy food: the dumplings in chili oil were better than some we recently had in Flushing, the "burning" noodles were excellent, and the veggie dumplings were a tasty hit with our picky eater...though a pan fried option would have made him even happier. Only thing that was solid vs. amazing were the soup dumplings - light on the soup which was more brothy than soupy. Happy Dumpling is generous with sauce and cutlery (supplying a little soup cup to "catch" any soup dumpling spillage , for example) which isn't always the case.
