I was wondering why they have such a low rating but I checked all the dates of the reviews and they were ALL from the OLD management... They are under NEW(ish) management, the one that's here now and have been for quite some time, and they are absolutely AWESOME!!! My boyfriend and I have been regulars here for over 2+ years and almost EVERY time we order from here, the food is ON POINT! That is, when the old Asian guy's cooking. We've noticed that when the OG chef is there, the food is PERFECTION. The lady at the counter is SUPER nice and SO polite... IF you are nice and polite to her. Anyone else calling her "rude" must have been disrespectful towards her someway, somehow. She's a sweetheart and makes me want to come back again and again just for her awesome customer service skills. It HAS to be hard being the only person working the front (and sometimes back!) in a super busy environment, dealing with rude, obnoxious, in-your-face customers... I've got to hand it to her. She's delightful. We usually get the regular fried (or sesame) wings with french fries or the sesame chicken combo. They both come with canned sodas. He loves his with shrimp fried rice and I love mine with white rice (just a personal preference with certain kinds of foods). We don't eat pork, so I love that the combos come with a chicken egg roll and chicken fried rice. I do appreciate the fact that their fried rice does NOT come with peas and carrots. TRUE fried rice does NOT have peas and carrots in it! Or ANY of that frozen mixed vegetable blend crap (peas, carrots, corn, green beans... YUCK!). But bean sprouts and onions?! YUM! Back to the wings... how they manage to make REGULAR fried wings so incredibly delicious is beyond me. Maybe it's the batter? Maybe because they're perfectly seasoned to the bone? I don't know. But they are SO addicting, we order them at least once a week. We are two very happy and satisfied (and full lol) customers and we highly recommend Happy China to everyone! I had shrimp lo mein and their lemon pepper wings. 1st the food is always hot and fresh. Great size wings cooked to perfection. I rarely eat all my food but today was the day. The lady at the counter gives good service despite the language barrier and makes an effort to make sure there's no confusion with your order. The food is pretty good. You won't be disappointed. Above standard fare, and they have chow mei fun, for that alone they get two stars. You can dine in like other Chinese joints, but it's limited to like only seven people. Curry shrimp, chow mei fun chicken, and the hot and sour soup won't let you down. I also had the garlic wings, cause I've never had wings from a Chinese joint and wanted to try them, and they were decent. All in all a good place, good food, and service. NASTY!!!!!!! I ordered chicken and Fried dumplings, I got home and my chicken smelt and had a fishy taste to it. Opened up the dumplings and they looked to be steamed. And the rice was hard.. I called the happy China and the rude boy on the phone proceeded to argue with me over my order. I took it back to get my money back and he took a fork out smelt the chicken and told me that i was making it all up. He pointed at the picture of the dumplings that they had hanging up (half was fried and half were steamed in the picture) and I told him mine don't look even close to the darkness of the picture! He had a complete attitude! For 30 dollars worth of food he had to act like he didn't care that I couldn't stomach to eat his nasty food! Any respectable place would apologize and remake the food! I have tired at least 10 different Chinese take outs/restaurants and being from up north, we are very picky about the Chinese food we eat. Happy China is the best food in the south part of Atlanta. Be careful. The service: If you call-in an order and a woman answers, you may want to ask if someone else can take your order. I did not, in fear that I might offend the woman. In hindsight, I should have. I now realize that it's not my fault her accent was too strong for me to understand what she was saying. Their customer service is lacking - borderline rude. (It's borderline rude because everything said in-person was said with a fake, forced smile.) The woman was curt and dismissive as she took my order over the phone. The glaring problem is, because she was so curt, she allowed me - a first time customer - to be mislead. No, I was not ordering with a menu in front of me, but phrases like "I want vegetable egg rolls" and "an extra bag of fried wonton" should've been corrected. --- 1) Happy China does not sell vegetable egg rolls, only vegetable spring rolls. Their egg rolls are only prepared with meat. 2) Calvin, my cashier during this poor experience, informed me that it was my fault that I ordered fried wonton. What I wanted was an extra bag of fried noodles that usually comes with the soups. When I explained what I wanted (since apparently, I didn't know the proper term), he informed me that I ordered incorrectly and proceeded to lecture me on the fact that many customers make the same mistake all the time. CALVIN: if customers repeatedly make the same "mistake", wouldn't it be helpful to be as clear as possible when taking orders? The worst part of my "mistake" was that fried wonton is filled with meat - pork - and I do not eat pork. The food: 5 on a scale of 10. The egg drop soup was bland, as if it had been prepared too salty yesterday, reheated, and stretched out with water today. Calvin claims they prepare everything fresh, so I could be mistaken. I told Calvin I'd pay for the fried wonton but to keep them because I don't eat pork. He refused. So, apologies; neither I, nor Calvin can comment on how they taste. The spring rolls weren't exceptional, but they were edible. They come with a sweet, red sauce. If you like sweet, red sauces, you won't be disappointed. If you like well-crafted, sweet and sour sauces with your spring or egg rolls, you will be disappointed. read more

Happy China is not a perfect take-out restaurant but they are my favorite as far as food quality goes. I've been eating here for 4 years and I have never had a problem with my food. I usually order the egg drop soup with shrimp fried rice, sesame chicken or chicken egg foo young and again, I've NEVER had an issue with my food in over 4 years of eating here. My only complaints are that their fountain drinks taste weird (so I wouldn't buy a drink unless it's in a can) and that they aren't open on Mondays but, its whatever. read more

It's sad I have to sit here and write this review because I usually love this place the food is always good as everything's hot and exactly what the menu says it is but when it comes to customer service I had to learn the hard way that it is definitely not one of their strong suits. I came in to order lunch to take to work and I ordered the Pork Lo Mein also I ordered a general toso chicken and fried dumplings I know for a fact that I ordered Pork Lo Mein and not house lo mein because I have a shrimp allergy once I got to work I noticed that I had House special I never even looked at my receipt until then when I called back they were rude and said that this was what I ordered and when i explained i had a shrimp allergy so i wouldn't have ordered that they said how are they to know that I have a shrimp allergy and they gave me a time limit on when to bring the food back to get it exchanged once I brought it back to exchange the portion they gave me to make up for the mistake was at least half a regular portion it's safe to say this was my last time at this restaurant read more
