I wandered in here to waste time before a meeting. I saw some very cute little dresses that I want to believe would look good on, but fear would not. I thought the quality was pretty poor considering the price tags. Although cute, a lot of the stuff was more Camden Market than West End boutique.
Here's what made me decide to review the place. The staff.
Wow, apparently they have issues with danish pastries.
Ok, so I was holding one, half wrapped in the paper bag, one bite taken out of it. But, I am a sensible, sane, nice person with manners, so I held it theatrically far away from the clothes rails at all times, and made sure my body was inbetween said dangerous confection and the merchandise. I tried to convey with my body language that I was a grown up busy person having a little browse before a meeting, cake in hand, but certainly not munching on said cake.
The female shop assistant behind the till eyed me nervously as I wandered, and actually WENT TO GET a man from 'out back'. He came up behind me and tapped me on the shoulder, then said with gravitas 'I'm sorry, no cakes allowed on the floor'.
From the tone of voice you'd think I'd been chomping noisily on it and wiping my jammy fingers on the frocks, or perhaps holding it up against dresses as if to see how a corsage would look.
I hope one day to return with lots of hat boxes, clothes bags and a HUGE dribbly donut, so they can see what a valuable customer they embarrassed out of their shop, a la the agrieved prostitute in Pretty Woman. read more
