As far as beauty-supply stores go, Big Sky is a step above…read more It's small enough to be easy to browse, but doesn't lack any of the things expected of a place like it. It has something some other places don't though: it's locally owned and operated. I was expecting a warehouse-like atmosphere, but was actually somewhat surprised by the down-to-earth setting. There were several customers in the store, and that gave me a chance as I explored, to watch the interactions. Despite the hundreds of different products, the person working was able to help one person looking for a specific brand where she couldn't remember the name, but knew that it was made by a certain company and once she was told the label had been updated, was satisfied that what she had been handed, was what she had been seeking. The wig selection here was the surprise. While there were the usual, Big Sky also had a few samples in atypical colors. They can not only fit a wig for you, they will style and color it as well. There's a good selection of nail polish, tools, and the like to ensure someone walks out with a head to toe look. If it's not here, it can be ordered. If supporting local is a necessity, then Big Sky Beauty Supply should be on the list.

Amongst the usual shops for the recreational gardeners interested in growing some veggies, flowers, or herbs indoors or outdoors, Grow World takes a step back from the usual in its obvious slant toward the committed organic or hydroponic growers. It's for indoor gardening and markets itself as that. It isn't a store that advertises as a "grow-your-own" but that's clearly the market. You won't come to this store to buy a packet of seeds for those vegetables, flowers or herbs (or anything else). You come to this store to get the supplies needed to ensure the best start and perhaps continued health of what you have already. Yes, for someone who likes the concept of hydroponic goods, and who needs a few seedling starter pots, drip trays, natural bug-repelling garden pots, or organic weed and bug repellents, organic fertilizer, grow lights and bulbs, Grow World has it covered. It's a fun store to browse and with staff available to help you find something, answer questions, or in general help, its a must-stop shop for organic / hydroponic gardening. GW also offers assistance for someone whose business is this type of farming. The front windows and the glass counters at the checkout contain the largest collection of assorted bongs and waterpipes of all sizes, colors, designs I've seen anywhere in one place. There's even one area exclusively for rolling papers, dabbing and vaping. It's extraordinary. Go to Grow World to explore, maybe pick up a few things, or learn something new.

An incredible selection of plants, trees, bushes -- flowering or not -- are available at this…read morenursery. What I noticed first was how this nursery is a plants-only nursery. There were no rows and rows of pots, or potting soil as found at many places. Of course, that might be because they sold out -- I don't know -- but I didn't miss them. There were too many gorgeous, well-cared for plants available in this large setting. Nearly everything has a label with growing tips, planting/blooming zone and noting the level of required sunshine. Despite the low inventory, likely owing to those forced to stay home deciding to do some therapeutic gardening, there was still plenty to see. Some large sections both in the greenhouse and out in the yard were roped off and labeled as "sold", but in the search for something exactly like I saw in one of those areas, a member of the helpful staff walked me over to where I could find what I needed. There were still many perennials, although either just hitting their bloom or just past it, but still with enough color sprinkled amongst the green shrubs. I was particularly taken by the pine tree, with its purple budding cones. It was a striking contrast. And the pond with the waterfall, highlighting some low shrubs also available here, almost made this a park -- but without the tables and benches. The large section off to the side behind the pond, had neatly labeled rows of trees that will, one day, be ready for sale. They make it really easy, here. It's no pressure, but when you need help, they're around to offer advice.

Lilygrass has STUNNING options on their site, are local to Laurel, and their prices are very fair for the quality in my opinion. I was able to order online, a beautiful bouquet for next day delivery and it all went smoothly. When I realized that no one would be available at the house during traditional work hours, they received my message in time and called me to get an updated address. They were able to get it to her at a great time, the flowers look stunning, and fresh, and we were thrilled to support a local business. Hubby and I went out of town and had our son house sit for us. Our young, inexperienced but well…read moremeaning son misplaced his keys and resorted to kicking the door in to get in. After repairs and additional hardware the door needed to be repainted. I brought paint chips in that had flaked off the wood windowsills (same paint as door) to have it matched. I regret that I don't remember the lady's name who helped me but she was awesome! I'm the last person in the world that should have a paintbrush in their hand but this lady walked me through every step! It was tough to get a perfect color match given the weather worn, oxidized chips that I brought in but on the second try we nailed it. It was such a good match that I painted the areas on the window frames where the paint had chipped off and you'd never know they weren't paint at the same time with the same paint. Oh, and of course the door came out perfect! I wouldn't hesitate to return if I'm ever unlucky enough to have to paint something again.
