I used Hansen to fix an evaporator coil. they repaired it but with two issues- they charged a credit card they didn't ask to charge first AND they charged me 1295 for just labor and time. the job took less than an hour. don't recommend this business. read more

I called Hansen to help me with my unit that got struck by lightening. The salesman came and took measurements of closet where inside unit was. Also I told him I wanted to replace with same quality as before. The installation people came and they tore out my wall and door to the ac. Closet. And out a larger tone unit in. Now I can not claim it on my insurance. Also I did not want a larger unit. It's just a way for them to make money or they took advantage of a disabled 58 year old woman. Since our A/C unit did not work, we called Hansen for the repair. The guy sent from Hansen was unprofessional, rude, extremely dishonest, and unknowledgeable. He unsuccessfully tried to extort money from us for several fake repairs that were unneeded. After he spent over one hour on the phone for the sole purpose to charge us more, he quoted us an astronomical price to fix the "problems". Once we understood his game, we told him to leave our house immediately after charging us more than the initial $25 diagnostic quote that was provided over the phone prior to making the scheduled visit. In the end, he charged $95. The day after, we called another company with the result that these guys fixed the problem in no time and with no drama for a considerably lower charge. For the record Hansen asked us for over $1,000, while the other company charged us $295. Very, very disappointed! Stay away from "Hensen". read more

Had the worst experience ever today. New unit just installed last month blowing HOT AIR. Austin F. service tech came out around 11am said it was my outside breaker that tripped and it should cool off in 2 hour. I called back after 2-3 hours still 91 degrees in my house. I call requested another service call. Austin F. called me around 1703 to inform me he was en route to my house. Almost an hour passed still no arrival. I called his number back no answer. I called the service line spoke with Annie she told me he's coming he's on another call. I asked her how could he be on another call when I spoke with him and he told me he was en route to service me. She replied, very rudely, that he's coming and I could reschedule tomorrow if I wanted to. I told her she was very rude and I didn't appreciate her tone of voice with me and that I would follow up with a call to her manager. She responded that she didn't care. I'm not sure what kinda of business etiquette you require from your employees but this was very inappropriate and unprofessional. 1851 I receive a call from Annie she informs me Austin F. returned to my home and reset the outside breaker that tripped again. I informed her he did not I have cameras and motion detectors on my property there is no need to lie. I used you company based on your reviews. Awful and awful. I am giving two stars because the after-hours service arrival was fast (less than two hours) after a lightning surge and a blow to my generator. The man who arrived told me he knew "nothing" about generators (in fact I had to open it up and point out components). But the following Monday their generator expert showed up, took the thing apart and left with two components he said needed replacing (I do not doubt him). It took 11 days and five calls. Today I received my generator pieces back. This is very not cool. Given that it is hurricane season to even imagine being without my full-house generator is worrisome. Now I am back to square one but at least know to never use Hansen and wisely threw away that fridge magnet they gave me a couple of years ago. The receptionist is pleasant and the owner was aware of my situation. I don't want to dump on them too badly, but they won't have any future business from me. read more

I have used Hansen for multiple heating and plumbing issues. Be sure to check your invoice. The are double dipping. They say $25 for diagnosis but if an incompetent technician takes longer to find the issue they add on $70 for labor. Labor is when actual work is performed beyond the diagnosis. Also make sure the work is actually done. I paid for a pull and clean and 2 months later the unit was not working again. I got a second company to look at the unit and they said there was no way a pull and clean was done. Just beware. They are getting very greedy. read more

I recently changed to Hansen Heating and Air thinking they were a reputable company and everyone I talked to was very polite. However, I called them out on the first service call and was very disappointed. I feel the guy who came in saw me as an elderly, gray haired lady and thought I've got one in my pocket here. He proceeded to tell me my 7 year old unit was no good, that it was a substandard brand and I needed to replace it. He then started pushing the expensive Trans brand on me. After he left I called the company I had been using for years. The service guy came out and gave me a whole different story and said I did not use a new unit and to replace the part that was causing the issue was half the price of what Hansen had quoted me. My air conditioner stopped working, I called Hansen after lunch Wednesday 10/2/19 and asked if someone could come to my home, same day. they complied. The friendly man that came was great, knowledgeable, and within 5 minutes knew exactly what the problem was. He was a perfect gentleman, and well spoken. So I will say I would recommend Hansen for your air conditioning service in the future. There house call is great, and not trying to make are take your money I do know others that charge $300.00 and up. I have used there companies. but I am not talking bad about them, because they are also good. I just am not going to pay that price for a house call, unless I have to again. read more

Expensive. The $25 dollar service charge is just to get them in the door and do nothing. It's at least $150 for anything. The lady on the phone wasn't that friendly, and they're too scared to tell you anything, because they want to be able to charge the daylights out of you. The technician wasn't friendly, but he wasn't really rude just noncommittal and unhelpful. They did the job. The repairs have held, but I just have to think there's better out there, at the least friendlier. read more

I have used Hansen for several years on 6 air conditioners and 1 gernerator. They are by far the worst company in Mobile. My generator has been broke since 9/21/20. It's still broke. They told me on 9/21 it needed a control board for $800 but now after months of me calling and visiting they sent a a tech out to take a picture of the part because they don't have a part number. I have talked to Nadine in operations and even Chad the owner but none of them care enough to get my generator fixed or even return phone calls. read more

From the start, my experience with Hansen Heating & Air was great. The first time I called, I think I spoke with Ms. Heidi. I asked for a quote and received just that, with a friendly attitude. No sales pitches or unwanted suggestions....just what I asked for. The next day, I spoke with Ms. Annie and that call was just as pleasant as my first call. Ms. Annie was very helpful and spoke to me as a person, instead of as a potential client. Based on the quote I was given and my experience with Hansen to date, I set an appointment for the next day between 12 & 2. Hansen's policy is to call and make sure the customer is home by calling to verify. But, when I set the appointment, I neglected to give Ms. Annie my cell phone number for them to verify that I would be home during the appointment time. That was my mistake. Ms. Annie called my work (the number they had on file for me) and was finally able to contact me. Mr. Marvin made contact with me and arrived a short time later. I explained what we were experiencing with our system. He went to work and explained what was happening. He was just as pleasant to talk to as Ms. Heidi and Ms. Annie. Ended up costing me a lot less than I thought it would have. They all definitely deserved this praise and rating. read more

They have been servicing my rental properties in Mobile for years. For AC, the work and prices had been ok, acceptable that is. But they were called to one of my properties a couple of weeks ago to check on AC not cooling and an electrical issue. They replaced a capacitor on the AC and got it working again, the price was ok, BUT although they were already there, on the same call and the same serviceperson, they charged me $175 to reset, YES to RESET, a tripped GFI. How do you do that to a years long, multi-property owner? How do you explain charging $175 to push a button on a GFI outlet. Off course I'll have to also have a talk with the tenants, they are suppose to first try resetting circuit breakers and checking GFI outlets before just calling a repairman. I can accept ignorance on part of my tenants, but what Hansen Heating and Air has done is not just bad customer service, it's abusive and it's dishonest. read more

Terrible customer service. We needed new duct work so we called Hansen's for an estimate. I also called another HVAC business but they did not return my call. I went and met with Heidi Hansen at their office and agreed to have them do the work. The workers arrived at my house a few days later at 8:20 a.m. to begin work. I arrived home at 6:00p.m. to find a pile of old ductwork dumped in the front yard on top of a tree I had just planted and the intake was blowing out air but not the vents. I called Hansen's and the workers arrived later to finish the job. They were apologetic and did what was requested. They took measurement for new Vent covers and intake grate. I was told at the signing that they would be set up to come over on Saturday when we were home to finish the inside work. It is now 7:54 p.m. on Saturday night and I am still waiting. I have tried calling the 24 hr. number and it goes to voicemail and tells me the voicemail is full. I tried calling and texting the job supervisor and he hasn't returned the message and his voice mailbox has not been set up. I am at a standstill not knowing when this job will be finished. read more

Well the tech had a bad attitude when he arrived. Said he couldn't get me on my cell and come to find out it was his service on his cell having problems. Then he asked "Do you just want me to put freon in it?" I said I don't know, you tell me what's wrong with it. I just know it's not blowing cool like it should. So he put a pound of freon in. He said it should cook now. I asked is there a leak and could he find it. He dropped his head and said that will be extra. I understand I'll have to pay but it's a fairly new system, only a couple years old. He said that's what you get with a Goodman, it's junk. He said we would have to schedule a leak inspection appointment. I couldn't schedule one at the time account I work out of town and my schedule is crazy. So they guy they sent had no intention on trying to fix my ac problem, just put a bandaid on it. Well when it came time to pay I said you do take a card right? He said he really preferred a check with an almost disgusted look on his face but he would take a card. Total time at my house = 10mins. I WILL NOT be using this place again because I feel like they are out to make that quick money scheduling lots of appointments into one day and not caring about the customer. And a week later my ac is still not cooling well and I'm out $180 and 10 mins of my time. read more

Bid the job without coming to the site to view. Gave a bid that didn't correspond to the specs I sent, and the bid gave minimal details of what was going to be provided (i.e. install ERV system). They had not sized the system, because they wanted to do calculations first, but gave a bid dependent on size of the system. Signed a contract with them, and then they came back with a "we just noticed you wanted XYZ...that'll be quite a bit more". After the contract was signed and started, NOW they "just noticed" what I wanted?? When asked for details of what they'd be providing...their response was "we won't be moving forward with this job". Again...after contract signed. So perhaps if you don't want any input on the job they do, and if you don't care what solution they come up with...go for it. But if you want to trust they read contracts, and want to trust they have your best interest in mind (and not nickles and dimes) it's my opinion there are other options. read more

I contacted Hansen because my thermostat was indicating "System Malfunction". The technician came out and conducted a few test and told me what he thought the problem was but did not correct it. The technician also indicated that the outside unit needed a cleaning/washdown and that it would cost about $180.00 for that to be done. I declined him doing it and did it myself. I paid the technician the $25.00 for the service call and a $15.00 tip. I called Hansen the following day, after cleaning the outside unit, and they said that someone would be coming out. I called Hansen on day 3 and they said someone would be coming out. I called Hansen on day 4 and they told me that no one would be coming out. read more

Avoid at all cost!!!!!! I used Hansen Heating and Air last July to replace the blower in my house. During the install process, they nicked a wire and it was shorting out. I know this because a few weeks later the unit started blowing hot air while the AC was on. I called and they came out and repaired the wire at no cost. Another few weeks go by and the same thing happened again. This time it was a shorted out circuit board in the outside unit that caused the issue. They charged me $250 dollars to replace it. I expressed my concern that this was a result of the wire being nicked during the install process. The lady I spoke to said she would talk to Chad and get back with me. Fast forward to January 2017. Heidi called wanting to collect the $250. I again expressed my concern. She put Chad on the phone. I have never been talked to this rudely in my life. When I explained why I felt I did not owe the $250, he asked why I did not explain this in July and waited until January when they called about the bill to bring it up. I explained that I had brought it up in July. Chad asked who I talked to back then. I told him I did not remember her name, but it was a lady. Then he very curtly told me that he would write it off. When I asked why he sounded mad, he said that if I was such an expert on AC repair, I should have done it myself. I will never use their service again and highly recommend that you don't either. There are too many other AC repair companies that value their customers and doing the right thing. Chad at Hansen HEating and Air is not one of those people. read more

I do not recommend this company to anyone. They came out for a service call, said everything was working but the coil needed to be clean. He showed us how to clean the coil. We did exactly what he said and the unit wouldn't come on. We called them back and set up another appointment, which the "boss" cancelled without even notifying us. We waited all day, we only found out it had been cancelled when we called to see where they were. The "boss" then continues to curse and say we had done something to the unit and refused to come back out. He called with an attitude and wouldn't even talk rationally to us. Our A/C went out on a Thursday. We decided it was time to replace the whole system, and called Hansen. Made an appointment for the owner to come out the following Monday (bear in mind we are without air in Mobile, in June, for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday). Left work early Monday for appointment, which was for 5 pm. At 5:10 pm I get a call that the person who is supposed to be at my house is stuck in traffic in Fairhope and will be late (I live in West Mobile). OK, things happen, thanks for the update. Well, at 6:30 pm, I get a call, he's STILL working in Fairhope, and can I reschedule? So....I was LIED to!!!! He was on the way at 5:10, but still on the job at 6:30. Not cool. Yes, I can reschedule, but not with them! The appointment had been set for 4 days, no air for 4 days and if this is the type of service provided, we do not want to do business with them. Hansen's came out and replaced the compressor in a unit. Air still didn't work. They came back out and replaced the compressor again. It blows cool but not a lot of cool. The second young man who came out on a Saturday needed a lesson in manners. He had terrible customer service skills. So now we are calling them to come back for the third time. I was very surprised to see a bad review on Hansen Air as I have had nothing but great service and a great working relationship from them, i have multiple properties so they have put in quite a few units for me so I do speak from experience with them, their prices are great, their installers are knowledgeable and professional. I wanted to put 1 experience that stands out in my mind, on one of my rental units the outside unit coil was shot unfortunately the handler was old so the coil was quite pricey (1400) they installed the coil then a couple weeks later the entire unit died, it was not fixable, so they came over put in another used unit and didn't charge me not a single cent and again this is only one of my many great experiences with them. read more
