I was unaware this was even a thing - and it's about 25 minutes from Omaha in Blair/Bennington off County Rd 41.

A turnoff onto a non-descript gravel road leads you to the picturesque grounds of the American Legacy Complex. Horseback riding lessons are offered here and they have quite the facility. Both indoor and outdoor areas are here and several horses to learn to ride on. My son has taken a few lessons here and has enjoyed it. Safety comes first as my son was required to wear a helmet. Also, they learn to brush the horses towards the end of the lesson. The staff here is friendly and helpful. They also have horse events from time to time where they have rides, contests, etc. I haven't been to one yet with my son but plan to in the near future.

Since living in the area for the past few years I've visited several times for different reasons. The park is large enough to take a nice stroll and walk your dog, there's trails near by that you can begin in the park and keep exploring. There are several soccer fields and open spaces to let children play as well. I also like that this park has several different parking lots so finding a spot is easy. One of the things I was wondering was how security is and if the police drive through to make sure there's no issues going on. I hope so! The park is kept in great condition. It's clean, there are a few different restrooms and the people I've come across seem respectful. Most recently, my boyfriend and I did the Florence Days 5K that began at NP dodge park! It was such a fun run and great to see the community come out to this area of Omaha! There's so much history out here as well as natural beauty that's easy to miss with the hustle and bustle of daily life. If you have yet to trek down this area I highly suggest that you do. Especially in the morning, it's absolutely gorgeous!

We held our wedding reception at the NP Dodge Park Pavilion. It has a wood cabin ambiance that fit perfectly with our naturey/rustic theme, and the best part - it was HUGE. It easily accommodated our 100+ guests, tables, chairs, dance floor, Photo Booth, etc! The best part is that it's literally just the venue rental, which may sound weird to say that's the "best part" - but it means that you can use your own caterer and decor, and not have to get stuck with all the set vendors that so many venues only allow you to use. There is also a cute little pond outside, that was perfect for a few more formal group shots, during golden hour. They allow you to have beer and wine for your event with the license you get, but that was fine with the guests we had. There's also a whole kitchen and bar area that was perfect for our caterer's needs. If they do open up the Pavilion again in the future, and you're looking for a cost-effective and beautiful event space, definitely check it out!

I spent about 10 minutes walking in one direction and then had to turn around to make my appointment but in that 20 minutes, I fell in love with this place. The trail itself is really lovely. You can tell that it is very well maintained and not overgrown next to the path. The small bridges for pedestrians to walk over along the path are a nice touch as well. So much of the trail is shaded and this was a particularly cool day which made me excited to come back in the fall and see the leaves change. I saw two deer while I was there both somewhat close to the path and completely visible, and I passed a handful of other people, enjoying the trail that day, including a handful of leashed dogs which are allowed on the trail. The trail is six or 7 miles long so definitely plan for a long day if you plan to do the whole Lake, but there are two loops that you can do in a shorter amount of time or you can do what I did and park at one of the parking lots do a small walk and then turn around and go back.

It's grassy, flat, and has some play structures for dogs. Note: the structures are for dogs, not kids. With all the eating places in Aksarben Village, people might be tempted to bring in food. This is a no-no except for very small dog treats. Speaking of very small, there is a big dog area and a small dog area. Also, as with all dog parks, people are expected to pick up after their pets. Bags are available for that, and trash bins too. Most of the dogs and people are well-behaved, but that can change so dog owners should be attentive to their dogs. The dog park is a real asset to Aksarben Village.

However soon after I hung up the phone I was getting notifications and e-mails from my bank suspecting fraud. I check my account and I was charged the $321 FOUR TIMES. I immediately called back and spoke to the owner who said that something went wrong in her system and she would refund the extra charges. I saw them as pending returns so I assumed that since it was a Friday they would go through by Monday. Nope. They disappeared. For the past few weeks I have called, left a message on the website, and even spoke to the owner on the day of the party. She said she received my message and issued the refunds (again, I assume?). That was July 29th. I had my party, and it was a great time. But again. Almost $1,000 of my own money has been in the pockets of this business since 7/18. It's now 8/8. I still have three charges of $321 on my bank account. So I basically paid for 30 people to have a smash party when I had FIVE. I've held off on writing a Yelp review because I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt but at this point I am over it. The fact that I have to continuously call/message and dispute transaction with my bank to get MY OWN MONEY BACK is so ridiculous. Hoping another smash room opens up in the area because I've given enough money to this business to last a lifetime.
