Cute experience for pumpkin picking. It was a small fee to enter the pumpkin patch (either 5 or 10 dollars, can't remember) but if you show up in costume, you get in for free. Good selection of pumpkins. Hay ride to the patch is included with your purchase. Pumpkins are bought separately. Corn maze, bouncey jumps for kids, etc all included in the experience. It is a great place to watch a Bills game with other Bills fans! The atmosphere is very fun.

It's a very small retail space but they have good products. Nothing big or special but a nice local spot to visit.

My family and I went here a couple days ago for one of their weekend fall festivities. Such a great place with lots of different things to do for my little ones (toddlers). They had jump houses/slides, lots of farm animals, corn box, face painting and then there food trucks and a live band. It was only $8 for people over age 3 without getting a pumpkin and that's pretty cheap compared to a lot of other places. Lots of space with plenty of chairs and tables setup. Definitely recommend to go there next fall! read more

We went here for the strawberry and wine festival. There is parking in a field but it is a little chaotic. People are walking in the road and they have cars going in and out on the same road vs. a loop to the exit. TIckets on the day of were $30 per person. In my opinion, it was not worth it. Although we did have a good time. There were a lot of vendors selling various things. There was supposed to be live music but for the 90 min or so that we were there we did not see or hear anyone on the stage. The have tents set up around the perimeter offering wine, cider and bourbon tastings. It was nice to get to sample all the various drinks but the samples were very small and I never really found one that I liked. We did like the sample from the Slippery Fox distillery. I am glad we went but i doubt we will go to the same event next year. read more

Went to the watermelon festival and after a ridiculous $20 per person entry fee.... They pushed Alcohol and made us dump out our water. This was the beginning of our last visit to this facility. All the vendor prices were insanely expensive with tiny portions. The advertising failed to mention the bouncy houses and children's water attractions, which for an additional $20 per child or adult were by far the best part of this event. Yes that is $40 per person to use the children's area and then the price of food and drink. So after a small lunch the cost of a few hours without buying any alcohol was $250, for 4 people. The number of very pregnant mothers in the kids bouncy house water area was scary as was the lack of supervision of small children by drunk adults set the mood for the day that clearly matched the parking situation Save yourself and pick anything else for a family outing read more

The only good part of our trip today was the tractor drivers and the man wearing the Justin Tucker jersey. It's ridiculous that the entry fee doesn't cover the kids fun area. Additionally, the folks that were there to watch football got in for free and could enjoy the entire venue, but people who weren't there to watch football had to pay an entry fee. I recently visited the pumpkin patch with my preschool. The patch did not have any fresh pumpkins; instead, the pumpkins had holes in them, were rotted out, and were overall disappointing due to their condition. One class had to wait forty minutes for the hayride wagon to pick them up from the pumpkin patch because they had yet to be forgotten. The experience was not fun for the children, and dreadful for the adults. read more

We had such a wonderful time at the Maters and Crab feast on Saturday July 20th!! We had a group of 8 and sat at table under the "barn" that has been converted to a nice outdoor bar with a pastural setting all around. The crabs were the best we have had all summer along with the perfectly roasted in the husk corn, bacon lettuce and HANOVER tomatoe sandwiches, bbq, and hot dogs with all the fixin's! Beer trucks self serve mix of domestic and IPA, not to mention that it was all you could eat and drink! Oh and there was live music too! read more

Caved in and decided to go pumpkin picking for our lil man. One of our friends were planning on doing this as well so we got to join them. This was our first pumpkin picking with our little man...and he slept the whole time. It was a wonderful family farm even that we went to and will be coming back once our lil man is up and running. We went on a crummy day because it was raining on and off. There was a lot of food trucks to choose from, but I wasn't that hungry. Plenty of farm animals to pet and check out...again, this make me want to only come here when my little one can actually run around and touch these animals. We went pumpkin picking towards the end of the event because we didn't want to carry the pumpkin around the farm. We got a good decent size to put outside on our porch. Went here for their haunted nightly event, The lines were ridiculous BUT after experiencing it we totally understand why. We had a lot of fun, each different area was perfectly crafted to its theme. we never got a cheap/party city feel through any of the areas, even the actors were very committed to their roles. We visited here on a field trip with our youngest son to their pumpkin patch. Both my husband and I went (I even took a day off to go). I am very glad we did. It was so cute! They start out by corraling all the kiddies and chaperones into a theater-type setup with hay bales and they teach them about the different types of pumpkins. In addition to the little pumpk-introduction...--see what I did there!? ;-)...-- there was a corn maze --which was more of a mini parade of children, parents, & children. This was probably a good thing because it would be very easy for a child to get lost amongst all that corn! After the corn maze, we experienced a pig race --which was adorable, checked out some goats, then took a hayride out to the pumpkin patch. This was a REAL pumpkin patch where I literally picked my and my youngest's pumpkins straight off the vine! That was really neat because sometimes pumpkin "patches" are not so much better than traipsing through Walmart's garden center and grabbing one. To top it off they have a farmer's market. I am very much a fan of farmer's markets and I will take a side trip to one if I see a sign pointing one out. The 2 jams that I made were so delicious, I topped crackers in addition to toast. Can we do less than one star??? The 2017 Strawberry and Wine festival was an absolute bust. Pay $24 for two people to stand in line for a crappy wine tasting. Save your money and go to an actual winery. And not a Strawberry to be found.... Would have better fun lighting a $20 bill on fire. Talked to at least 10 people while in lines and they thought the same. Hint: look at the Bull Run Wine Festival as a case study in how to do one of these. Move along, nothing to see here. read more

We had been using Hanover Vegetable Farm to get our mulch for 4 years wanting to support small business and truly getting great service and mulch. This year was much different. I called and order 12 yards of mulch to be delivered (last year I ordered 11 and came up short and needed to get a few bags, no big deal, my fault) so this year I thought I would order another yard to make sure my yard was covered. After they dumped the mulch my husband (and neighbors) made a comment that there was no way that was 12 yards. I didn't think much of it and got to spreading. Well low and behold we came up FOUR beds short! Needless to say we are SO disappointed. We called and mentioned this on them and they assured us they we got the right amount but they will make sure it didn't happen again (fishy). They are correct about that as we will never buy mulch from them again. We always referred them to neighbors and family but never again. SO SO disappointed. Just beware when getting mulch delivered! I just hate to be taken advantage of. Very sad. read more

Disappointed is an understatement. Last spring we ordered topsoil from this company. Before it was even delivered the delivery driver was late. He called fussing because I didn't answer the door. He was at the wrong house (He inadvertently went to Dr. And we live on Ct). After the topsoil was delivered and we filled our vegetable garden beds using a wheel barrow and a shovel, I started to plant my vegetable plants. I immediately noticed shards of glass (ranging in size from smaller than a dime, to larger than a quarter), huge clumps of red mud, and loads of rocks (ranging in size from a pebble to rocks the size of a child's fist). I was not happy. When I called Hanover Vegetable Farm, Jeff was apologetic. He seemed sincerely sorry. He told me we were accidentally delivered fill dirt instead of top soil (fill dirt is for construction sites under pavement). He asked what I thought was a good solution. I wanted them to come to our house, remove the topsoil that they had delivered from my garden beds so we could start over and I wouldn't have to worry about glass. Which I am still finding. He offered us either 10 yards of topsoil or double shredded mulch for future projects. We agreed to that since we would need mulch in the future. I thought this deal was fair since it didn't seem likely Jeff would take the dirt out of the beds. Fast forward to this spring, I called Hanover Vegetable Farm. After a few back and forth phone calls, where they weren't going to give me the full 10 yards for free as originally agreed upon, they finally agreed and the mulch was delivered. Now, when I asked, they assured me that the mulch we were getting was shredded on site, double shredded. Included in the picture is some of the plastic and metal trash I've found so far. Plastic bags that have been shredded up, metal cans that have been shredded, thick pieces of plastic, pieces of plastic sheeting, plastic straws, the wire/paper twist ties found on bread loaf bags, plastic netting, even some foam letters that you would find in a grade school project. This is our third home in Richmond. We have had mulch delivered before to our other homes. We selected Hanover Vegetable Farm over another company we used previously because one of my good friends went to high school with the owners daughter and we have shopped there for plants for our last house and everyone we've come in contact with there has always been lovely face to face. I am frustrated. Mostly because I like to garden. I want my children to be a part of it because they enjoy eating the vegetables and fruit we grow out of our garden. They cannot dig or play in the garden because it is full of shards of glass, and I don't want them to cut themselves the way that I did. I'm also frustrated because either Hanover Vegetable Farm doesn't value me as a customer or they think I'm stupid. For any and all of these reasons I would recommend that you select any other mulch or topsoil place to do business with, even if the price is more. It's not worth it to worry about your children or you cutting yourself to save a few dollars. read more

What they have is good, although one or two items were not as fresh as they should have been. The pole beans were almost yellow and the tops of the onions were wilted.
