Hanover House made for a comfortable stay in Edinburgh, and is only a few blocks' walk from New Town. The owners were quite accommodating and served a yummy breakfast each morning in a nicely-appointed tea room. I met travelers from around the world staying there including some folks who were return customers. Like many European accommodations, there are no elevators in this hotel so be prepared to take your luggage up stairs. Scottish biscuits, including Walker's Shortbread in the rooms made for a good treat. Street parking is available in the neighborhood but be aware of the days and hours you are allowed to park.
The location is close to many shops and restaurants including Valvona & Crolla, a wonderful Italian deli and caffe bar with a great selection of meats, cheeses, breads, and wines - all you need for a picnic lunch. read more
