Just moved to Guilderland! Needed a new grocery store to go to. Heard from locals hannaford was where everyone went. My husband and I's experience shopping around the store was great. Easy to navigate, very clean, calm atmosphere, great prices, and a membership program we wanted to sign up for! Now, here's why this store went from what i would've given 5 stars down to just 1. There were few registers open with long lines and i went during a busy time so i prompted for self checkout....not a problem! Here was my problem. Woman working at the self checkout borderline harasses you. I've never seen anything like it. We waited in line at self checkout while i watched her walk directly behind people and just hover over them like they were stealing items! I watched an older lady ask for assist with her card machine and it took her several times to get the employees attention because the employee was too busy staring down somebody just trying to check out their groceries to see if she could catch them stealing. Finally the employee noticed the older woman and gave this poor woman such a nasty attitude for just needing assistance. Finally it was my turn at the self checkout and had the exact same situation happen with me. I felt like i was committing armed robbery for using a self checkout machine! Paper bags were flimsy, and i watched a girl next to me try to bag her items but the bags kept ripping. The girl finally just took her items in her hands with a massive hole in the bag with all her items falling out of the side and paid and left. I heard the employee make a comment to the customer next to me about her not paying .05 cents for her paper bag that had ripped completely down the side and yelled to the customer that she next time she needs to pay for the ripped bag!!!! I was appalled! Most uncomfortable shopping experience ever. Maybe it's a New York thing. I don't know. Least to say i did not sign up for that rewards program and couldn't wait to get out of that self checkout area! Will definitely be shopping at other grocery stores or might give a different location a try. Hopefully maybe this employee was having an off day...not sure! read more

The location is very convenient. The store feels a little smaller than your typical Hannaford, and the aisles seem slightly cramped, but otherwise it has everything I would need. The produce and dairy were well stocked even in the evening after rush hour. They have 5 self-checkouts, but one of them is cash only. It's a good thing they had that many, because there was only one cashier active while I was there. They only had the smaller shopping carts at one entrance; it would be better if they put some at both. read more

We live bracketed by two Market 32 supermarkets. However we drive a bit out of the way to go to this Hannaford location. There prices and customer service are excellent. However, the particular reason for this review is that over the past few weeks we have discovered their in store cooked turkey breast. OMG they are so terrific! Tender, juicy, well seasoned, and reasonably priced. As a side note, we are very happy with the brand selection at Hannaford. Price Chopper - before they converted to the Market 32 branding - used to have a great brand selection. But, no more. For us, Hannaford is the place to shop even though they are a few miles further away. They are certainly worth the trip! read more

This is my favorite grocery store in the area. It has a nice size parking lot, is convenient to get to, and the store itself is nice. The store is clean and well organized, and was recently updated. There is a nice ambiance as well, with an attractive design. The only thing that I have trouble with is that the natural products are mingled with the rest of the store. This is a more recent thing, as there used to be a natural foods section, but just something to get used to as there is a natural foods trend. I also like that Hannaford sells a lot of local products, like local breads and produce. In the summer and fall months you see signs for a lot of local farms being showcased. I also love that they added the Hannaford to Go service. While I haven't used this yet, I would have definitely used this when I had a newborn and a toddler, or in the future if I need the option to be able to drive through to pick up groceries that I have purchased online. I can generally find everything I need at this Hannaford, and the prices seem reasonable. Plus they recently added My Hannaford Rewards, which allows you to save with coupons and 2% back. I don't shop anywhere else unless I am in a pinch. read more

This is our second review of the Western Turnpike Hannaford. We mistakenly routed a Hannaford-to-go order through the Western Turnpike store instead of our usual Colonie store, and we were fully disappointed with size, freshness, and quality of the produce. In our order we were also surprised by the amount of typical foods "out of stock" - including celery, watermelon slices, and Hannaford brand apple juice.   As requested, the delivery came to our home.  Some of the bags made it to the porch.  Some of them were just left on the sidewalk. I drove to the Colonie Hannaford, bought the out of stock items and drove home. From now on we're making sure to place our orders with the Colonie store. PS. We shucked the corn on the cob today - 10 of 10 ears had the beginnings of rot at the base and one was unsalvageable.  The store shopper didn't do the bare minimum of peeling back the husk to check for freshness.  The corn was old, nobody wanted a second ear, and we threw the rest away. It still mystifies me why the ratings of this store are so high... Is it an oasis in a food desert? read more

Pharmacy is inefficient and the pharmacy customer service employees are rude, surly and not helpful

This location recently started their Hannaford-To-Go service, which allows you to shop online. You fill your cart after logging in to their site, place your order, and select a pickup time from a pull down menu, which offers hour-long blocks of time. The first few times I tried it, there were some hiccups -- some items, which were out of stock, were replaced by similar items that I wouldn't have chosen. And I feel like the service can be sped up quite a bit - after buzzing in at the special parking spot and giving them your name, you pull ahead into one of the designated HTG spots. An employee comes out and takes your card, then goes back in to get the groceries and submit the payment. They come back out and load the groceries into your car and return your card. If they utilized an iPad with a Square card swiper or something, they could save themselves a trip. Also, I tend go in to pick out my own produce before buzzing in at the HTG spot. read more

Hannaford is my favorite local grocery store. Good produce section. Great meat section. So-so on the gluten free items, but it's getting better. Just don't go at noon on Sunday. read more

LOVE this Hannaford. I'm a Western NY transplant, so I was missing Wegmans terribly. I must say Hannaford is a decent runner up. Produce is always fresh, cashiers are always friendly, and prices are always fair. What more could you want? I'm not blown away by the bakery, but everything else is top notch. The organic section is small, but has a quality selection. Pharamacy is nice and helpful too. read more

Nice store but steep in price. No other store on the area, so people pay their prices or go to cobleskill. There is a nice selection of natural foods. I only shop here if I have too. read more

They don't have as big of a selection of my favorite foods as I would expect from a large grocery store. Also , their rewards program is difficult to use if you don't have a smart phone. The rewards program won't save your password. They want a new one every time I go in the site. Then a box tells me that my email is already being used, so I can't get the savings that other people are getting. read more

Price Chopper down the street is poorly managed so I started going here and love their quick check out and single person meals and options. they are awesome. men should live by more than roast chicken and pizza. they are fresh, well stocked and diverse. Thanks read more
