    Peach cobbler

Casual bar setting with good home cooked food. They have daily specials. Check out their Instagram. I went for smothered turkey necks and peach cobbler. Gumbo is also excellent. Staff were friendly.

Outside the spot.. I thought I had a picture of my Seafood potatoes dish, but I guess I ate that as well ‍..

Found out about this spot while walking with the 2nd line, on my first visit to New Orleans. This time I made it a point to try some food. Had their seafood and potatoes plate. Straight fire! . I guess it's a thrusday only special, and it was definitely a neighborhood favorite. This is a small spot on the corner in the heart of Treme, but I felt very welcome and safe. They even had security, so don't be scary, but at the same time don't be dumb, making yourself a target. You never know who is watching you, and that's just a rule you should apply whenever outside in places you don't know.. Love this place, gonna try and catch the grilled rib eyes next time.. P. S : Couldn't find the pictures I took of my dish of seafood and potatoes plate, but if you are a fan of shrimp and grits, then trust me ;you will love the dish

I keep hearing about this neighborhood Bar with exceptional food.

Looks like my first visit to Hanks was a lucky one or they have new Employees who are just plain rude. Hank doesn't have to worry about me coming back. The lady in the pink Bonnet made eye contact with me at least 3 times as I'm standing there. I can see you are busy and I'm not upset at all that you are. I just want to place my order and wait. Not even so much as a ," I'll be right with you". I have and will continue to expect at the very least average service but in all honesty I'm going to say something. As a Customer I am not always right. But I am always the Customer. Why in the hell would I give you my money to be treated like a second class citizen? I kept my money and took it to Lil Dizzy's just 1 Block away. I ain't having it. It's 95 degrees outside too? Hell to the no. We're done. Y'allhollaatchaboy!

I chose the first Thursday night of the new year to try the seafood stuffed potato that I've heard so much about. Don't bother calling to order, because they won't answer the phone (personal experience and the guy who took my order confirmed). Don't let the lack of phone service keep you from the best seafood stuffed baked potato in town. Hop in your car and pull up to the side door. The super friendly order taker will walk up to your car window, take your order and payment, while you relax in the comfort of your vehicle. (This is surely a Covid precautionary measure, but it works!). After a few minutes my food was delivered to my car, by another very friendly gentleman (perhaps Hank, himself?) who thanked me for my business, asked how I found about them, etc. I left with a bag of food that smelled amazing and a strong feeling that I'd just done business with someone who very much earned and deserved my support. What a treat it was to open that bag and the boxes inside. Both stuffed potatoes, seafood and chicken, were wonderful! Perfectly seasoned and beyond filling. Can't wait for the opportunity to dine in and try a strong drink, or two, but until then I'll be perfectly happy to drive by for another awesome stuffed potato on an upcoming Thursday evening. #blackowned

    Seafood potatoe with extra seafood
    Helen M.

First off. On Thursdays Tradition at my job is Hanks Seafood Potatoe. When i tell you the best potatoes full of seafood goodness. Its I believe 14$ but it is well worth the price.I was so full and content. It is inside the bar so you will see people partying sometimes in the daylight. There's always music while you wait. Time will be spent because everyone cones to crap these potatoes. So again you will be waiting for your food I mean but its still worth the wait. It cones with crawfish tails, shrimp,Lumps of crabmeat and topped off with green onion!! I can not write the goodness of this potatoe! Just try for yourself!

I have been too this bar 3 times within the last 6months. Let me say this by for is the best curb side corona virus service. You can place an order over the phone, or drive up curb side and place an order. I would bring cash credit card system was not working on May 4,2020. My suggestion after the social distance is over keep the curb side service or a window service; sometime you don't want to go in a busy bar for food after work. Staff was very nice curb side or when I had too go inside. -Gumbo too small but they had alot of meat inside not too spicy taste was very good; I think if they add hot sausage this gumbo would rate a 10 right now I give it a 8. The grill cheese was good but if you know you burn the grill cheese why give burnt food too customers. But then again the Gumbo substituted for the burnt grill cheese. Yakameim- great taste, nice size, need more meat and definitely more then 1 hot sauce 2 soy sauce make u ask for extra or have your own hot sauce. -Seafood overstuff potato I can't say anything bad about the potato judge for your self plenty seafood, hint of spicy just right. Fish- seasoned right fried to perfection. The environment, is comfortable and feels safe. The bar consist of older mature adults, more oldies but goodies blues having a good time vibe.. I don't think you will be disappointed. This bar is in inside a neighborhood parking is limited.

The infamous SEAFOOD POTATO! But where's the potato tho?!
    Iona W.

So this is a neighborhood bar. That's been around forever. Strong cheap drinks. Friendly people. A chill vibe. And the best spot to get a seafood potato in the city!! So obviously everyone knows that their Thursday special is the seafood potato! I mean this thing is monstrous. I couldn't even see the potato underneath all of the seafood sauce, crawfish, shrimp and a huge lump of crabmeat. $10 for The potato with out the crabmeat. An extra $2 to add the crab meat. I added some fried fish on the side ($3). But I don't like that it's cooked in cornmeal though...to me it gives the fish a gritty feel when eating it. But it was flavored well and hot n fresh!! I come in every few months or so. Only for the potato though. My friend swears the BBQ shrimp on mondays are the best. Who knows....i may return to give em a try! Until next time though....if it's a Thursday and your trying to figure out what you want for lunch. Go get you a seafood potato!! You won't be disappointed.

There was a doorman who charged us something like $5 each (still cheap!) and we ordered beer and a N/A drink at the bar and listened to a great jazz group playing old-time jazz. Interior is tiny and you're pretty close to the performers. We were standing at first but eventually found some seats as people left. There is even a back courtyard if you want to be outside, although I don't know if you can hear the music or not. We bought a CD from the band and enjoyed it when we got back home. I wanted that New Orleans seafood but had late lunch, so I opted for just the crispy gulf shrimp on cheesy grits. I really wished I can hungrier because the dish ended up being very heavy. The shrimp were nice and crispy. The charred Brussels sprouts gave me the false sense that this was a healthy dish because I was getting my veggie intake. The bacon jam was sweet and went well with the Brussels sprouts. I loved the combination of the cheesy grits and the Crystal hot sauce. It was the perfect amount of both and some how led me to understand why Americans put hot sauce on their Mac n cheese and some other cheesy dishes after 30 years of not really understanding the attraction to that combo.
