What goes up, must come down

Grabbed a Groupon and decided to try something new today with a friend. Location was definitely easy to find with ample parking for the facility. Staff was friendly and helpful and provided a half hour training session to get us up on the walls and feeling like we had some idea as to what we were doing. Shoes were clean and the chalk was very reasonably priced. Instruction was thorough and we were able to do a few of the V1 climbs and feel like champions. I'm thinking we'll both be feeling it in our arms and backs tomorrow. Grateful to all the young climbers that were cheering us on.

This spot is so great, and the staff is very nice. Climbing is excellent for parents and for kids.

No one had started a review or made a yelp page for this place so I got permission and decided to be the first person to start it. This is the newest location and the 8th one of all the chain Hangar 18 in Southern California. This gym is smaller than most. It is only bouldering. The sets are great though and has plenty of different grading and styles for beginner, intermediate and advanced climbers. Upstairs they have a really spacious yoga room for members. It's super nice and the nicest one of I've seen so far in all the Hangars. The staff I talked to is super friendly, I like her a lot. She asked me immediately how I was doing when I got here. It's a great place to climb and I recommend those that have Hangar 18 memberships to come and try it out! Plan a day with other friends, go to the beach and grab food out here too :)

Decided to try something new. Bought living social deal. Threw hubby in car and headed here for his bday. Came in on a Monday, one other guy in the gym, it was perfect for first timers as ourselves. We received the BEST customer service from the girl at the desk on 3/28/16. We're noobs and she took the time to teach us how to climb and come back down. We had so much fun and her instruction, patience, motivation and friendliness made our experience. There are tons on walls and puzzles ranging from easy to hard. They will rent shoes to you. Be sure to wear comfy gym type clothes. Thanks so much! We will return as much as we can (maybe even a membership as we live in Oceanside) we may be boulderers now lol

Super fun roof feature to work on technique and endurance.

Love the gym and the creative climbs. Staff is amazing, Jake has been really helpful. Only bummer is that mats are torn in some places

Courtney's Sandcastle Playground: This place is a gem. It's gated (HALLELUJAH), shaded, and inclusive, which means every kid can enjoy it. My littles were obsessed with the pirate ship and musical areas, while my older two found enough to climb, spin, and race on to keep them out of each other's business. Bonus: there's a splash pad section for warmer days, and YES--there are actual bathrooms inside the play area. Moms, you know why that matters. Sports Fields Galore: If you've got kids in sports--or kids who just think they're in the Olympics--this park has huge open fields, soccer goals, and space to sprint until they collapse. We brought a ball, and suddenly everyone forgot they were "too hot" or "too tired" to play. Magic. Walking Trail: There's a nice little loop path, perfect if you've got a stroller crew or you're pretending you're getting your steps in while bribing toddlers with snacks. Aquatics Center Right There: We didn't do the pool this time, but the Aquatics Center is literally steps away. So this spot could easily turn into a full day outing if you're feeling brave (or caffeinated enough). Parking & Setup: Easy parking, tons of grassy space for picnics, and plenty of shade for those of us who are just there to supervise and hand out snacks. Would I go back? In a heartbeat. It's a rare combo of being actually fun for the kids and not a total sensory overload for me. If you're looking for a place that wears your kids out without wearing you down, Vista Hermosa is it.

There was lots of activities and they had options so they could choose the things that interested them. Swimming, crafts, archery, drama, rock climbing. They had a dance and camp fires, they performed skits. When I went to pick them up my little one had lost his voice from singing and cheering so much. My homesick boy didn't want to leave... He even asked to go back for the next weeks session. Days later they are still singing their cabin songs and telling stories about what they did while they were there. I know my kids can't wait to go back and I'm so thankful they had this experience. And I'm going to make sure they return to Camp Nawakwa because they have made memories they will cherish for a lifetime...and they'll make even more in the summers to come

Some people can afford to go to the South of France or some extravagant location for adventure but…read morewhy would I do that when there are so many beautiful places to explore here in Southern California. I grew up here in Los Angeles county, always just a few minutes away from the beach but every time I made it out to the water all I ever did was sit out on the sand or occasionally dip my feet. I didn't want my family to do the same. I want my kids to take full advantage of their surroundings. Enter Gary Golding. He is a human encyclopedia of this environment and how to navigate it. I felt more at ease with him as our tour guide And much more open about exploring and trying new things. I would have never gone out to Zuma beach on my own but there I was with my family having the time of our lives snorkeling and mingling with nature. Now keep in mind you can come to him with an idea of what you want to do or give him a general idea and let him plan it out. I would suggest a kayaking adventure which can be done at different locations. Since we have such great weather here in So Cal it's a year round opportunity. He is very knowledgable and enthusiastic and you'll be surprised how much you learn when the day is done. I can't wait until our next adventure.
