We enjoyed feeding the larger animals as well. Watching the varieties of chickens scurry about, as well as children's reactions, was amusing. Deffinately a place for small kids, & older adults as well. We stayed more than 1 hour.

It's fully paved with rubber surface. There is one play structure that's a very cool pirate ship. There's a slope with 1 infant swing and 2 saddle swings. There are 2 tables with seating. There are 2 benches by the play structure and 1 by the swings. However, they also have a palm tree lined "bench" on Golden Lantern side. This area provides some shade, otherwise, not shaded. It's near the ocean though so not very hot. It is gated and small so easy to keep an eye on kids. There are 2 trash cans and no water fountain. I recommend this park if your kids like pirate ships and for a relatively short play time.

Bonus: there's a splash pad section for warmer days, and YES--there are actual bathrooms inside the play area. Moms, you know why that matters. Sports Fields Galore: If you've got kids in sports--or kids who just think they're in the Olympics--this park has huge open fields, soccer goals, and space to sprint until they collapse. We brought a ball, and suddenly everyone forgot they were "too hot" or "too tired" to play. Magic. Walking Trail: There's a nice little loop path, perfect if you've got a stroller crew or you're pretending you're getting your steps in while bribing toddlers with snacks. Aquatics Center Right There: We didn't do the pool this time, but the Aquatics Center is literally steps away. So this spot could easily turn into a full day outing if you're feeling brave (or caffeinated enough). Parking & Setup: Easy parking, tons of grassy space for picnics, and plenty of shade for those of us who are just there to supervise and hand out snacks. Would I go back? In a heartbeat. They do have a free trial, which is great. The woman who runs it, a former preschool teacher, greeted us personally. All of the staff made a point to say hello and ask my child's name. Instead of just watching the children play, the staff engaged with the kids, which was awesome. It wasn't super busy, because they limit the amount of kids that can register. Parent participation is mandatory, no shoes, that's about it. They have an awesome unisex bathroom, with a changing table and different toilet like things for each different stage. There's a quiet room, an art and activity box room, a big room with a slide and different play areas like a puppet theatre and a little kitchen. They also have costumes and mostly anything a young child could want. My daughter had so much fun! We will be back next time we visit in San Clemente.

My first recent try was to go the traditional route - heater, filter, bottles of water conditioner & beneficial bacteria, etc. etc. - when I unexpectedly happened upon an eye-opening You-Tube vid about the Walstad method (less homework & a more natural environment, the way God intended). So I returned all that other gear & am starting from scratch. Fernando eased My initial anxiety arriving as a total tank newbie, and gave Me a tour of the various low-maintenance plants I could start My nitrogen cycling with. Nolan - the Captain of this aquarium supplies ship - answered every one of My questions with patience & grace, did not talk down to Me or make Me feel stupid, and I left feeling happily hopeful that I might actually be successful in creating a fish-friendly safe & healthy environment. My first time here was a few days ago - I got Hornwort, bolbitus, and dwarf water lettuce. They were all thriving. Hornwort fluffy and full! Also Thursday's is 25% off plants !! I came again today and brought a friend and she was also so happy we stayed there for like an hour just looking at everything. They have multiple rooms and a lot of tanks. The store seems small but it's not ; there's a lot of variety of fish, plants, and shrimp. Today there were red root floaters, one of the employees actually grew them - they were so healthy and super red I had to buy 3 cups !! I got more dwarf water lettuce bc my axolotl loved hanging in the roots. Staff today was super nice and helpful. There were 2 guys. It was extremely busy when I came like 10 people and they were helping everyone collaboratively. I hate when an employee only focuses on 1 customer who takes forever thinking and observing and there's a ton of ppl waiting. It wasn't like that here, the guy would answer a question and move on to another client. Also when the guy was fishing out some shrimp he was still talking to other customers and answering questions. I loved the vibe here. I will def be returning!!!!!
