I hired Frederick from HANDY SERVICES PRO LLC to help with winterizing our 10x13 gazebo. The task was simple: he was to bring a ladder to remove the existing cloth netting and cover, then install a tarp to protect the structure for winter.
During his visit, Frederick measured the gazebo himself after we realized the tarp was slightly too small. He confirmed we were off by a few feet and assured us that he would return the following weekend to complete the job at no extra charge. I heard him say, 'No worries. I'll be back next weekend,' and he confirmed this in writing on the Thumbtack portal, messaging, 'No worries. See you guys soon.' I have screenshots of this correspondence as proof of his commitment.
After accepting the full $150 payment, Frederick only covered the top section of the gazebo, leaving the sides exposed and the job incomplete. When it came time to exchange the payment, he made an uncomfortable show of recounting the money directly in front of my husband after my husband had already counted it out for him. This action came across as distrustful and unprofessional, making it seem as though he doubted the honesty of our payment. The entire exchange felt uncomfortable and disrespectful.
Today, when he was scheduled to come back at 1:00 PM to fulfill his commitment, Frederick messaged saying he had 'totally forgotten' the appointment and asked to reschedule for later in the day. This was the first time we experienced this kind of lack of reliability from him, but it was especially frustrating as I had sent two reminders earlier that morning. Despite his previous assurance, he failed to prioritize our project, further adding to our disappointment.
His lack of follow-through, coupled with an uncomfortable payment exchange, left us feeling misled, disrespected, and taken advantage of. Professionalism is built on respect, honesty, and reliability, qualities Frederick did not demonstrate in our experience. His actions made it seem that securing payment was his main concern, rather than providing quality service or honoring his commitments. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend his services to anyone who expects a job to be completed as promised. read more
