I'm sorry to say that my experience with this business was not great. Our initial meeting went well and we had a good feeling about the company. We had to wait a month for them to come out. That seemed extreme but we thought it might be a good sign, that they were in demand. They were hesitant to give a quote for the work. That should have been a red flag but we pushed forward. They arrived on time and were pleasant and clean. When they were finished they billed for $200.00 more than was quoted. The work was pretty straightforward and seemed fairly simple. We had some electrical work done and it was not right. We had to have it redone. I contacted the company a couple of times for an explanation of the charges and NO RESPONSE. We hired Handy Randy to replace tracking for sliding closet doors, install shelves on a half wall, replace the floor beneath the kitchen sink, recaulk the bathroom counter, and install new flooring in the closet in our new condo. We could not be happier with the entire process. First, they are great about getting back to you. Second, Bill and Bob were absolutely fantastic to work with and my wife and I enjoyed how friendly and professional they were. We also loved how fair their pricing was, including a free initial consultation. And finally, the end results were awesome. Each project they completed, 4 in total, exceeded our expectations. Just had Greg and Bob from Handy Randy come out and install 2 ceiling storage racks that I brought from Home Depot. They did an AWESOME job. There's a reason that these guys are booked weeks or even months in advance. They do solid quality work. Even when some of the parts weren't up to snuff (two of the lag bolts snapped in half), Greg and Bob used their own better/superior lag bolts (no charge) to properly secure the racks. The garage racks look great and they also helped me to swap a broken washer pan during the appointment. Not sure what Kathy B's review is about since I certainly didn't experience any of the issues that she mentioned. These guys are professional, honest, and really responsive to the client's need. Plus the price I paid was more than fair (they charge for the time worked and not from when they show up). I won't hesitate to contact Handy Randy for any of my future handyman needs. Handy Randy was a life saver! We are selling our house and we are 3 days away from an open house when the light in the master bathroom stopped working. I explained the situation we were in and Greg showed up the next day even though they were fully booked with work. I am so glad he did because we now have a working light in time for the open house! I took advantage of the situation while he was there I started asking him roughly how much it would cost to do some other work before we sold the house. I loved his honesty. We had to replace some siding because of a plumbing leak in front of the kitchen. The wood had to be milled as this siding is no longer being made. Greg arrived and went to work on replacing the ship lap siding. The problem was there was several pipes coming outside from the kitchen that had to be cut into the wood. It was tricky to get the holes to line up properly and then cutting the board to get the pipes to slide into the board. They did a beautiful job and screwed the boards on, incase we have another plumbing problem they can be taken off with out breaking them. They then replaced a faucet in the kitchen and did a beautiful job. I can say that Handy Randy did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone. Very nice people to work with. This is an addendum to my previous review. I can't say enough about how wonderful Handy Randy is. After Greg's last visit to our home, we had some other issues come up that needed attention asap. Greg was on it and arrived at my house 40 minutes later, completed the job, and with a handshake, he was off. I cannot say enough about how great this company is. It's a family owned and operated business and I felt comfortable dealing with them from the first call. Brooke, who answers calls, is very friendly and helpful. Greg is the one who came and did the work in my kitchen and it was like I had known him forever. We chatted the whole time he was working. He gave me some pointers on things around the house, which I appreciated because I am a DIYer and loved how open he was to a homeowner doing a few items here and there to cut costs. OK, I was ambivalent about rating Greg for his work on the installation of my water heater recirculation system today. Not because he didn't do a great job, but because I selfishly want to keep this company a secret so that they don't get more overbooked than they already are! All kidding aside, it took 4 weeks to book them to come out after the estimate appointment by Bill (the dad), but it was totally worth the wait. Greg (the son) arrived early, looked at what needs to be done, went to Home Depot to get the materials and came back to do the work. Throughout the process, he was very courteous, even taking his shoes off when he comes inside my house (which is a show of respect in Asian homes). He did a great job, everything was clean after, and he took time to explain things to me. Then as he was prepared to leave, my husband came home and he spent some more time explaining everything to him again. I felt bad because I knew he wanted to get home to his precious little daughter, but he never rushed or made us feel like "Oh brother, you're taking my time. I just explained it to her already!" This is a family company that shows integrity and pride in their work. Unlike most others, they're not in it to make lots money off non-handy people like myself. So glad to have found them!! I usually don't write review at all but the experience with this company really is horrible. I do have to say it started well on the phone when I made an appointment with the nice lady Tammy on the phone and had to reschedule and the handyman did arrived at my tenant's place on time for the estimate. 2 stars because of this or else it would be a 1 star. After the estimate it's where everything went downhill. I was suppose to get a call for all the works that need to be done and nothing for 3 days so I decided to call and left two messages with no call back. A week gone by I finally got Tammy on the phone after several calls and she told me she has not heard back from the handyman so she will text him and get back to me the same day. What do you know, no callback for another two days. I called again and was informed by Tammy again that she will text the handyman to get an answer. I told Tammy all I need to know is how much and if they don't want to do the job that's fine and just let me know then I will move on to another company. She said she understood and will get back to me as soon as she hears something back. Now it's end of the week, two weeks after the appointment and I still have not hear back on what's going on and gotten an estimate. I don't understand how a business can run like this with no communication with the customer. I don't know why Tammy cannot just call the handyman and ask what's going on instead of texting. This wasted two weeks of my time on top of the two week wait time for the appointment and now I have to start over with another company. Very unprofessional and irresponsible. read more
