Best kept secret in all of Bath!
Like so many tourists who are wowed by the beauty of Bath, we recently had the pleasure of spending three days in the delightful city. While walking the area around the famed Bath Abbey, we wanted to find a good, "Mom-n-Pop" restaurant nearby. Voila! Enjoying the perfect location was a quaint sign, beckoning us to visit the Hands of Bath.
We both enjoyed a very filling and delicious lunch. I had the lasagna and jacket potato, my partner had a simple, but perfect cheese/ham sandwich on a baguette.
Predictably, our dessert stomachs were empty, so we shared a "clotted cream tea", which is a traditional scone (hand-crafted by Carol, a 30-year employee), clotted cream (surprise), fruit jam and a wonderful pot of Russian Caravan tea.
We tried to go back the next day for a late clotted cream tea, but they had just closed their doors for the day. Note: if the window is left open at closing time, don't lean in and ask the server a question, as she's quite jumpy - LOL!
The owner, wait staff, food quality / appearance, cleanliness, etc. were far above our expectations. I always enjoy and treasure an unexpected pleasure when travelling and this place checks all the boxes.
Do yourself a favor and visit the Hands Tea Room. You can thank me later! ;-) read more
