Hi all. I have used Hands on Design Cakes for multiple birthdays and parties. Every time the cakes were beautifully made, exactly as requested and tasted fabulous. Michelle did not disappoint. Funny - I just saw the "one star" reviews - The Sana K. and Justin K. were a bride and groom who couldn't pay the full amount of the cake when I delivered it. Before I left to take it, they were getting all of their friends to give me different credit card numbers to try to pay the whole balance. I POLITELY told them I would not deliver it until it was paid in full (it was a four tier cake). If I remember correctly, it was at the Heard Museum event room - and they couldn't fit it in the fridge. I mentioned to the photographer on my way out that she needed to get payment in full before doing the job (due to my experience prior to delivering the cake - I told her about the experience). If that's what they are referring to, then I guess I was rude. The groom was in shorts and a t-shirt and flip flops. How would I KNOW that was the groom? The whole thing was a bit crazy...in fact, when they left a negative review on my facebook page, I responded with screen shots of all the texts they sent asking if I could accept four different credit cards from different people, and it illustrated how they couldn't pay for the cake. If I could put a photo of the cake on here, I would - it was beautiful. But I think they were embarrassed that they didn't have the funds to pay for it. Just go to my facebook page - search for Hands On Design Cakes. There are literally THOUSANDS of cake photos. I doubt I'd have that kind of client base if what they say is true - same with the Sarah person. I don't even know who that is. *****Very unprofessional*******short tempered******* This was not a professional transaction by any means. I will try to post the messages from the lady. When she delivered the cake she was yelling and going off. I heard from several people about her rude and unprofessional comments. ******Stay away from this business******this lady has no filters nor does she know anything about customer service, she's just angry at the world. She wanted us to pay her in cash because she didn't want to pay taxes. Due to some last minute issues we decided to pay with a card. She wasn't happy about it. She didn't even give us our total until four hours before delivery. She wanted us to (again) pay her in cash. Stay away from her, because she's unstoppable when angry. She will not be afraid of slamming the cake on the counter because she's unhappy. We got a crooked cake that wasn't even the right design. *****UPDATE*******She didn't stop at that. Months after our encounter with her she was having her friends harass us on Facebook. It didn't stop, she made fake Facebook accounts and was arguing with both of us pretending to be a customer. *WARNING* This lady basically made rude comments about us in front of me, because she hadn't met me and didn't know what the groom looked like. And I hadn't gotten dressed yet. So in front of my friends she complained about this order and it's difficulty. Furthermore she went on to shame us by comparing what we paid for the cake to what we paid for the venue, (basically calling us cheap). What the heck? I would never wish this kind of service on anyone, not even for a $5.00 walmart cake. I will never do business with this lady again. She also does not take some major credit cards as far as i can tell. Maybe the only way this place has even anywhere close to a 5 is from friends and family reviews. But from an outsider I will say *STAY CLEAR*. The cake was crooked, and it was not the one we had chosen. EDIT: She is continuing to insult us through her facebook page. We used Michelle and Hands on Design Cakes for our wedding cake. We called her about six months in advance, Michelle bakes from home so she fills up quickly. The weekend after we called her she prepared a sampler of cupcakes of each of her flavors and fillings for us to take home and try with our families. We loved that we could take it home opposed to try on site because then we could share it with others and when cake tasting it often starts to blend together trying so many flavors. We liked being able to space things out. Michelle was helpful in designing our cake, she was willing to think outside the box to meet our design goals. Her prices were by far the most competitive that we found. Her website says she does not deliver, but she did deliver ours for $50--I think it depends on the order and the volume of cakes she is making that weekend. I suggest booking her early. Sometimes it takes her a bit to respond to emails, remember she runs this business on her own, this is not a corporate shop so keep that in mind. read more

We ordered a fall wedding cake and it was perfect! The design was beautiful and the cake was delicious! I will definitely order again.
