I had a doctor at the ER that with all the tests done and the same info I shared, he did not give me the right antibiotic. I had a serious infection and high fever for a week and he doubled the antibiotics I had before I went to the ER... yes, and was charged 1k after insurance. Dr. Ortiz Saved another trip to the emergency room or something worse. I would take a good doctor even if it meant having to deal with some issues with the staff, it might just be uncomfortable to be in that position if you are in need of efficient staff. If you are, the manager resolved my issues when they were escalated, she was kind and made sure everything was okay.

When WellMed refers you to a cardiologist, within their group, and tells you "he is the best…read moreWellMed has", and said cardiologist tells you, after not being able to figure-out how to manage blood pressure, "I don't know what else I can do", the next obvious step would be to search for a cardiologist outside of the WellMed group, which my mother in law did. She found a good cardiologist, who was willing to meet with her before requiring a referral (her insurance is an HMO so she needs a referral from primary care physician, who in this case, is from WellMed). When she asked her PCP for a referral to this cardiologist, who is in her provider network, WellMed flat-out refused and said they would only refer her to a WellMed cardiologist. So I ask you, what is she supposed to do when WellMed's "best" cardiologist couldn't help her? She is having to switch PCPs to one who is not part of the WellMed group to get the referral for the cardiologist she trusts. WellMed is clearly more interested in their profit rather than their patients' overall health. So because of their actions, they will now lose a whole family of patients.
