I needed to find a few gifts for some holiday party gift exchanges and after endlessly browsing through other stores in the mall, I about gave up and was on my way to Target to buy something generic and mass-produced when this store caught my eye. I walked into a homemade art HAVEN! Everything in the store is handmade....heck most of the things are made in store! From jewelry, candles, kitchen accessories, art, and clothing, you can find uniquely crafted items that are creative, colorful, and useful! Best of all is the prices are affordable! There's a big focus on local art, with a lot of bay area-themed items. I quickly found several items I loved and purchased them. Will be back if I ever need to find another perfect gift!

Cute things!!

I have Case for Making to thank for getting me back into exploring my creativity and artistic side. They are a small shop in the Ocean Beach neighborhood of San Francisco, but they have a great selection of handmade watercolor paints (kinda pricey but worth it for their beautiful colors) that can be shipped anywhere and a terrific selection of online and IRL watercoloring classes (recommend instructors Dave Muller and Anjelika Deogirikar Grossman). I am looking forward to trying out more of their paints and classes for years to come!

Around 1pm on a beautiful Saturday, we found parking in Judah and made our way into a small storefront with two doors: one for workshops and one for retail art supplies. I love that they offer workshops here, and I love any sort of community-centered art outreach in San Francisco. My partner is the bigger artist between the two of us and I'm glad I brought him, even though he didn't buy much, he was able to see the selection of amazing quality watercolors and the wide variety of pens, of which I ended up buying a handful because I am a stationary lover if I'm anything at all! The prices were about what one would expect for a small store in the sunset, and I was happy to pay them. Some of the prices were actually much better than I thought they'd be. I purchased a large-ish art clipboard for $18 and I know I'm gonna use the heck out of it! The store was fairly empty when we arrived but filled up quickly with Saturday shoppers, and the cashier was wonderful and kind, and I appreciated their calm demeanor I'll be back here! Really just a great little spot for quality art supplies: watercolor pallets, brushes, notebooks, mixed media notepads and paper, high quality colored pencils and artist pens, etc!

It was packed the day I went (day before Mother's Day). Regardless, the staff was super friendly and very, very helpful and no one seemed stressed. They have everything laid out on the tables for you; paint color palette to choose your paint colors, paint tray, water, white butcher paper on each table. They then bring pencils and paintbrushes to you as well. The employee helping us explained the process in detail and was there every step of the way when we needed help. There is a separate room for parties here which is nice for both party guests and for the other customers just going to paint. Looks like you can bring in trays of food to the party room, which is a nice feature. I found the painting experience here to be fun, clean and very organized. They have a large selection of paint items to choose from too. I would come back in a heartbeat. For those who care, it does seem a little smaller than the other 2 places, especially on a busy day but not so much so that it would deter me from coming back. Whoever does the hiring and training of your employees - GREAT JOB! I hope it's consistently like this on all days and if so, you're going to attract repeat customers.

You have a better chance at getting a table if there's 2 people, or if you're able to - split your party to a couple of tables so you're not all waiting so long. Weeknights is complete opposite. My son and I went to pick up some pieces that were ready, and there was not a single person painting. So we decided to stay and paint another item.

I have found baby shower gifts birthday gifts white elephant gifts ornaments and honestly something for every occasion you can imagine. The selection is always creative and feels thoughtful not generic. I especially love the Sunset District merch because it is always a crowd favorite and feels personal without trying too hard. The stationery is also dangerously cute and the wrapping paper and gift bags are truly top tier which honestly makes the gift feel even better. If you are looking for a gift whether you are panicking or just browsing this place is a must stop. And as if it needed another reason to love it one time a bunch of hummingbirds flew into the store and were just flying around. I do not know about you but I fully believe hummingbirds are a good omen so at this point the good vibes are confirmed

I didn't even realize that Wishbone (the former store in this location) is now called "My…read moreFavorite," until hours later in Golden Gate Park - after I glanced at the artful "My Favorite" stamp on the brown paper bag from my recent purchase. I suspect that the delay in recognizing the name change was because My Favorite has very similar inventory to Wishbone. I was pleased to learn that it is even run by a former Wishbone employee. On my recent visit here, I was particularly enamored with My Favorite's jewelry section. My eyes were drawn to a pair of delicate beaded gold earrings and the daintiest elegant beaded bracelet. In addition to their well curated jewelry items, they also carry fun SF themed puzzles, cute dishcloths, empowering kids books - and other colorful quirky finds I ended up buying a petite hooked rug pillow with daffodils on it - to commemorate my Welsh heritage - https://www.wales.com/about/welcome-wales/national-symbols-wales . I had hoped the pillow was handmade, but after talking with the helpful and kind staff member here when checking out, she revealed that it was likely mass produced in a factory in China. I appreciated her candid honesty. Even though the pillow was actually fairly hard to the touch, and not handmade - I felt called to purchase it. I would much rather say "aw I love this place," as I pay for an item, rather than "aw I loved that place," when the business is gone. My hard whimsical daffodil pillow now sits upright in the corner of our place. A reminder that even small purchases help support wonderful local businesses. Trust.
