Here's my list: 45 RPM vinyl singles 33 RPM vinyl albums Eight track tapes Cassette Tapes Compact Disks Digital Downloads As the state of musical technology changed, it left music lovers with a dilemma -what to do with our old purchases if we don't  listen to them anymore in their original format? Years ago, I pitched my cassette and Eight Track tapes (Trouble Man by Marvin Gaye and Superfly by Curtis Mayfield were personal favorites). But I have hundreds of LPs and CDs and really didn't know what to do with them. Until now. Today I sold four of my albums to the Trading Post as a test, and I was very happy with the results. I will be going back with more of my LPs and CDs. I exchanged e-mails with Elise, and then met her at the store and she couldn't have been more personable, helpful, professional, and just plain nice. Trading Post is most interested in 1960's-2000's rock,  reggae, and metal genres. They inspect your records for quality, their inventory and pricing data and give you an offer in either cash or store credit. She researched my four albums while I wandered around the store.  It's crammed with records, CDs, video games, tie dye everything, posters, shirts, blankets and smoking accessories. Elise made me a very fair offer, and that was enough for me to know I'll be back with my CDs and vinyl after the Holidays.

It's hard to consign here. I've done it twice. The first time they said they didn't sell two items…read morebut they couldn't find them when I went to pick them up. You have to search through all the hangers and find your own stuff by the way! So take pictures!!! They ended up giving me money for the items, so I tried again. The second time they didn't call me to tell me if they were taking my things for two days. I had to text them to see what was going on. They aren't very organized. That's hard to trust when I am giving them my designer clothes and bags, some worth thousands of dollars. :/

So I don't know why I'm treated like I'm making their life hard. They definitely treat you how you dress too. I had the nerve to wear a teeshirt today, and the woman I gave my consignment items to scowled and said she probably wouldn't have time to process them today, so look out for a text, and expect to hear back in 48 hours. But the woman who was behind me was wearing a Lulu Lemon set, and even though she had the same number of items I had, the same store helper said she'd let her know in a few minutes if her items could be taken!! Kind of laughing, and I guess it's a lesson for me to dress better, but idk. They do have some valuable items, and I always stop here to Christmas shop for great finds, so I do recommend it as a store!! Just if you want to consign here, have thicker skin than I do.

Strange hybrid (vintage clothing/jewelry and lamps) that somehow works, probably because most…read moreeverything in the store is Art Deco or a little later. Clothing, hats, and (tons of) jewelry are in fabulous condition, but the prices reflect that. If you're looking for a fedora or a ladies hat to go with your vintage Chanel, this is the place. I'm not sure where you'd wear it, but check out the long green velvet cape in the front window. Very Gothic, or Jane Eyre, or fairy princess. Some furniture, books, and other stuff, but the main attractions are the dozens of unusual fixtures hanging from the ceiling. There are also floor lamps. One-of-a-kind stuff. But, again, the prices give you pause; a pair of Deco milk glass pendants were $895. Lamp repair seems to be a major thing here, and they'll also do appraisals (I don't know if that's just for jewelry or what.) Fun to browse, but I haven't been tempted to buy. The guy repairing a lamp in the back said hi but didn't offer any help. And I think this is the kind of place where you need help.

First, I am OBSESSED with vintage,…read moreparticularly Art-Deco and Mid-Century, jewelry which is beautifully displayed and organized in rows of carefully curated display cases making shopping this enormous collection a much more manageable endeavor. Amazingly, Karen, the owner, is not only extremely knowledgeable and helpful but knows where just about every little thing is at all times!! While the jewels are my primary target, the lamps and vintage clothing, especially the hats and furs, are to die. I have been shopping here for many years, as have numerous friends I've sent in, and am always surprised by the treasures I discover. Since moving to NYC, I long to make more frequent visits as even the city does not boast stores of this quality in terms of selection, value and expertise. I have also had several pieces repaired - including a Robert Lee Morris belt buckle - all of which are now in even better condition than they had been originally. Other reviewers have mentioned that the prices are either high or unfair and I strongly disagree. Clearly they do not understand the value or quality of this type of merchandise. Karen carefully selects, repairs and restores costume jewelry from many well-known jewelers as well as anonymous original pieces - the likes of which are often cheaply replicated and may be difficult for some to distinguish from the real deal. Trust me, it is worth it to by an authentic piece that you will either have for many years or be able to resell at a later point.
