Went here for the first time today and I am looking forward to coming back. Everyone in a mask. Space was nice and clean with an outdoor patio (empty when I went on Sunday morning). We were in Midland for a few days and Hand Cafe came highly recommended. So we stopped for a latte and a snack on our way out of town to fuel us for our long drive back to Dallas. The service was 10/10, as was the vegetarian bagel. The coffee itself was also delicious - but I was shocked to find out that they don't have lids for their hot (to-go) coffee cups? Insert mind-blown emoji here. Maybe it was the young barista in me, but this seems like a safety hazard? Isn't this what McDonald's was sued over years ago WITH lids? Y'all just asking for trouble in midland? "Here's a cup of hot coffee, good luck not burning yourself when you get in the car, or do anything besides sitting right down and drinking it all in our cafe" LOL. Is this why they call it "Hand Cafe" because eventually you'll burn the? If it's for the environment, I kind of get it, but the in-house drinkers all had paper cups too. Where are the giant coffee house cups? I'm assuming I'm not the first one to be confused by this lidless approach because when we were searching for the lid by the counter an older barista confidently pipped up and said "we don't carry lids for the coffee" as if it was normal? Idk. I hate to complain, but I would suggest that the baristas make note of this before letting someone order a hot drink to go! This is a cute local coffee shop that often hosts for local art events (ie pop up art vendors and live music). They have a giant slide like you used at McDonald's when you were a kid. They have some upstairs seating and some limited seating in the cafe itself. We've been here several times now and leave disappointed almost every time. Some of the times were for local art crawls where they were a stop, and sometimes it was just dropping in for coffee or a snack when we were in the area. Every time we've come here they've been out of what ever we went in for. All those great pics of crepes you see? Didn't have them at 9am on a Saturday when we tried to get one. Love a good coffee shop and this one checks off all the requirements - the adorable inside, comfortable seating, nice food selection and delish coffee. Order at the counter style with a menu board on the wall. Lots of food choices from pastries to hot items like crepes and sandwiches. I had the breakfast sandwich and Latte. Oh my gosh! My kids are so tired of my homeschooled meals!! So during this quarantine, when I ask them what they want if they could eat anything in world, they say crêpes! Crêpes?? On top of delivering delicious food, I got a Nitro Latte, falafel, churros, lemon bars... man, we are set to learn algebra ALL FREAKING DAY. This restaurant recently opened, and I've been anxious to try it since they make crepes. My husband and I went yesterday. I got a chicken club sandwich and my husband got a chicken Florentine crepe. My sandwich was excellent, and the crepe was good too. My biggest concerns about this place are location and service. It location is not only any of the main roads or intersections. It's on the side of an office building, so it was a little hard to spot. Additionally, the service was a little off. The cashier struggled to give us proper change. At one point, both employees were in the kitchen, and another customer was left waiting at the checkout for quite a while. It was generally good, but it's obvious they're still working out of kinks. I found this doozy in a business complex while running errands and I am so glad I gave them a shot. It's a perfect spot for study, work, meeting with friends and more obviously, a good healthy cooked meal. Although I didn't eat, I could just tell that the food would be good. The place, well maintained and the staff very friendly and welcoming. I was there for the coffee and what really caught my eye was the beautiful espresso machine. I had a Cortado to go and it was really wonderful. I will definitely be back to eat but for what it's worth, it's an easy decision If your in the area. Plenty of space, quiet, lots and lots of outdoor seating. Wether you need a meal or a pick me up, I'm taking my chances with Hand Cafe. My wife and I stopped in on a Friday afternoon after running some errands. We ordered a hot mocha, a mocha frappe with salted caramel, the 7-layers of heaven bar, and a chocolate muffin. My mocha was excellent, with a good balance of espresso and chocolate. It could have been a little warmer. The frappe came out without mocha. As is usually the case with errors like this, I offered to take it back but my wife refused. She said it was good, just not what she ordered. This mistake is the reason for my three-star rating; otherwise, it would have been The 7-layer of heaven bar was good. It was a little grainier than the magic cookie bars my wife makes, but enjoyable. The muffin was good, with a rich dark chocolate flavor and properly moist. As far as I know, there was only one employee in the store. We had to wait to order while she filled a couple of orders ahead of us. I'd love to go back sometime and try some of their lunch dishes. Also, I see no reason to wait in the lines at Midland's Starbucks franchises when there is a local business of this quality. read more

Came from Clovis, NM to have my car serviced in Midland and I wanted yo go somewhere different than Starbucks. I looked up this place as well as a few others. Choose this place because I loved their explanation of the different drinks on the menu and if I had to bring my kids next time I wants to check it out. Has a really cool indoor slide and an outdoor area. Was here for several hours. I didn't feel like I was a bother-which is always nice. The lady that I initially ordered from, she seemed to know about the food and helped me with my choice. The gentleman behind the counter the second time for the dessert was also the person who made my drink, he confessed that he hasn't really tried much of the food and doesn't like coffee-totally fine! I liked my drink! I wish the owner would have the workers try the food-not for them to pay for it- so it can allow them to help customers who have questions about the food. I hate to give bad reviews but it may help the business improve by knowing the experience some customers have. We were in Midland this week for a conference and decided to try out different coffee shops each day. We tried this one our last day. Sadly it did not impress us. The two workers were not friendly, and after they took our order they both stood behind the counter on their phones (even though they could have been cleaning and picking stuff up). Both of our orders got messed up. The coffee shop was not clean.. the floors needed to be swept, tables wiped and bathroom cleaned. It could be a nice little place but it's not clean and the workers seem like they don't care at all. Hopefully this will help to bring some awareness! read more
