I'm sure if leadership from Hilton Headquarters took a tour of this hotel, they would be shocked by the conditions of this hotel that is attached to their brand. The disturbing conditions include water stains in the sealing, visible dirt and stains in the hallways, stairwells, elevators and in my room. I'm convinced they haven't done a deep cleaning of the entire facility in years. I'm sure of this because on the shelf of the hanging closet, I found a used condom wrapper; no telling how long that was there. Not only that, I heard every toilet flush, shower running and conversation of the unit next to mine throughout my stay. Bottom line, this hotel needs a complete renovation, or tear it down. read more

Front lobby looked dilapidated and there in fact is no pool. the room's floor was dirty, the fridge in our room kept coming out of its corner because it was not only loose, but elevated in the back of the room. When we checked in our room it had a faint fishy order and the tub/bathroom floors look like they haven't been cleaned in months. I often stay at Hampton Inns because the amenities, customer service, room cleanliness, and breakfast setup is predictable...this place nailed it once again! The front desk staff was always nice during my 12 night stay and the room was always cleaned impeccably. The breakfast was stocked and one night the front desk allowed me to go in there to grab a couple condiments. The team managed the front desk professional at all times. There was always plenty of USA Today's by the fully stocked coffee area in the morning. The breakfast hours 6-10am was well maintained, as well. The room was great and this Hampton Inn delivered the courteous and cleanliness that I expected! It was a great place to stay and I appreciate the Yelp reviews I read before staying, otherwise my stay may not have been as comfortable if I stayed elsewhere! Thank you, YES! read more

A mediocre stay to say the least. The woman at the front desk was very kind and professional; however, the room really wasn't great. The pillows were super uncomfortable and they wouldn't give us any new ones when we asked for them. The bed felt like we were sleeping on a wooden board. The room was freezing when we first walked in - keep in mind, we're staying here in December. They also had a phone in the room that didn't work at all, not even to call the front desk. They seem to be cutting costs to the detriment of their customers. When we checked in, they told us "By the way, there is no pool." Their website said they had one. A housekeeper told us they haven't used the pool since the "new people" took over several years ago! We had a king bed with only one night stand! There was space where a second one had obviously been, but only a wall light and empty space on one side. The bathroom door would not stay open. They could have at least provided a door stop! There was no hair dryer in the room. (I thought hair dryers were an industry standard these days.). I was going to call the desk to request one, only to find there is no phone in the room. Isn't that a safety standard? I had to go down to the desk and they said "Someone must have absconded with the hair dryer." Then said they didn't have any more. I had to go out and buy one and felt like I had to beg to be reimbursed for it. It was the next morning when they finally agreed to reimburse me, but I had to give them the one I bought with the receipt. Then they magically found another one when the housekeeper came in. And we found a "lost" earring on the floor of our room. Housekeeping didn't do a great job. The one day they came in to clean our room, they only cleaned the bathroom and didn't go any further into the room! I heard several "I don't know. I just started" while I was there. I felt the hotel as a whole looked like it could use a face lift, even though in one review from 4/2023, it said it had been recently renovated. The only positives were the breakfast was pretty good and I found the beds very comfortable. Staff smiled a lot and was friendly, but not overly helpful. Traveling for business unlike 99% of other guests. Likely wouldn't stay here again - just used to a much higher quality hotel. Bathroom has a very weird smell, bed is lumpy, hard and so uncomfortable. A/C doesn't have a wall unit, it has the old school "dial" directly on the unit. So it either runs constantly and freezes you or you have to turn it off. This means you hear every single sound and noise from the other guests. Lots of door slams, cars, etc. Next to a not very nice shopping center. Also there appears to be no a/c except for in the rooms. The rest of the hotel is oppressively hot and thick. read more

This hotel was the perfect beginning, middle and ending to our day. We stayed five days four nights for a staycation away from Northern Virginia. We dined on their free breakfast in their cafe in the mornings, we hung out in the pool area and played UNO there everyday for at least two hours between lunch and dinner, appreciated the coffee and tea and fresh baked cookies in the lobby in the afternoons, and enjoyed HBO at night. The rooms were clean, the beds were very comfortable, we had such a great time in Norfolk, and felt we made The right choice in accommodations. We can't wait to come back for another relaxing staycation at the Hampton Inn. read more

Purpose of staying here: Passing through to catch a flight out of NAS Norfolk as NAS Norfolk lodging was full. To my surprise, this little facility has been renovated. I say again, it has been renovated. So ya gotta check it out! The rooms have been updated to "simple and clean." The obvious offering of coffee in the main hallway (ground floor) was heaven-sent as we all knew where it was and it was well-stocked as we ambushed it early morning to pre-game for the long day of waiting and waiting for our flight later that day. Across the street is Starbucks - but we decided to just drink local cause it was free, convenient and satisfactory. The best part of the hotel = customer service: I arrived super late in the evening (midnight) due to delayed commercial flights. The angelic lady working the front desk assured me that the room would be held as I taxi'd around the area checking in luggage on base and grabbing food off base. A young gentleman the next day educated me about calling local taxis and provided me numbers to successfully do so. Note: Taxis in the area are rumored to be often over-whelmed and slower than our impatience can muster. Be prepared and call early for your ride. read more

The staff at the front was very helpful and greeted me before checking in. Offered which floor I wanted to stay on. Room looks half modern and half from the 90's. Bathroom was super contemporary/modern. Thermostat is digit and works to within 2 degrees. The lighting uses energy saving LED or CFL bulbs. It's no luxury hotel but it can almost pass for one(at least in the rooms anyway). Bed is super comfy and comes with 4 pillows. Lamps and radio clock are contemporary style. Room phone looks like it's from the wrong decade. In room food nuker and fridge for your food needs. The doors don't abate sound too well but overall impression is excellent. This hotel is the absolute worst, especially if you are under 21 and Military. My son had to fly all the way from California to Virginia to be stationed at the base nearby. Exhausted, he wanted to sleep and be close to base so he could be at ease reporting the next morning without too much fuss. He is one month away from 21 and was turned away from renting a room. Even though the law CLEARLY STATES THAT MILITARY CAN RENT HOTELS STARTING AT THE AGE OF 18. I am so disgusted in this hotel and staff for turning away a member of service . Thankfully, he found a better, more upscale hotel that had no issue renting him a room. The Hampton Inn deserves 0 stars. Do better serve our military members. read more

Staff was friendly. We had a room with two queen beds which were nice and clean. Bathrooms were the same. Only reason I did not rate our stay 5 stars was because at some point our toilet eventually stopped working and would not flush. However, when we reported it to the front desk, maintenance hopped on the job and had it fixed not too long after. The complimentary breakfast bar was nice. If I could rate my experiences with negative numbers, I would. I am so very upset with Hampton. I made reservations for two rooms in April for June. My husband is retired military, we were given a discount. Ok, cool. Planned the entire trip around the proximity of hotel. Drove 8 hours. Get to hotel, I am told that they will not honor the reservations. Even though i had email confirmations and had spoken to an employee twice concerning the amount. Turns out the rate was only good if we were active military. No one said that. Not once. They quoted us a price which was significantly higher than the orginal price. Almost double. Pretty much said sorry about your luck. So we had to find another hotel. I suggest if you plan on using a military discount, verify what is excepted. I feel this is a little scam-ish. read more

Was expecting fruit, cereal, maybe waffles. (Which they had). But they also offered oatmeal other hot breakfast items. Day one sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs and sausage. Never experienced a lamer hotel. I arrived late at night (11 PM) and was very tired. I just wanted to check in and sleep... but there was nobody working the front desk... just no one there! I called their corporate office, spoke to customer service (James) and that was useless. After an hour of being put on and off hold I had enough and went to their competition (Quality Inn) who immediately took care of me. James did call me back and offered me a room at some other location- too far for my morning meeting. I told him I wanted someone from management to call me the next day to discuss. Little surprise, no one called. The experience was terrible, weird and frustrating. Never again!!! read more

No stars. This is absolutely the worst Hampton we have ever stayed in. We are Hilton honors members and one of us is in the military. When we arrived there was no one at the front desk. The two of us are physically impaired. When the clerk finally arrived, we checked in. The clerk would not help us with our luggage or provide assistance of any kind. We asked the clerk about the indoor pool as it was covered in foam. The clerk responded that it was a cleaning agent like chlorine but it was safe to swim in. As a disclaimer, I have not stayed at this location yet. HOWEVER, I have dealt with the customer service here multiple times and they are phenomenal. I made three bookings that had to get canceled well past the scheduled arrival time due to circumstances outside my control. I am typing this at 12:30 in the morning where I am going out of my mind. The room next to ours is filled with adult juvenile males that are loud and cursing. After 3 complaints, The front desk says they are not loud enough to do anything about. They have offered to move us. I really don't understand why it is unreasonable to think that after midnight the hotel would not enforce quiet. We did move rooms and everyone at the hotel has since been super nice. They comped our first 2 nights and we are going to stay here for the next 3 in our new room. I changed to 2 stars from 1; because I am still disappointed that disruptive individuals could not simply be asked after midnight to be respectful of other people. read more

It is a standard Hampton Inn, but probably the lowest quality I have been to. I am a Gold Hilton Honors member and can see the traffic of Navy personnel throughout this location has worn it down. The elevator is the slowest elevator of all time. Expect to wait at least 5 min for it to come. There is only one elevator in the facility... We had ants in our room and it seemed the person who cleaned our room hadn't moved the furniture to clean behind it. Of course you will get ants if it doesn't get cleaned. The location is next to a railroad and next to a huge electric plant. Rates were $80ish for the government rate. This location is near the Navy base, and close enough(5mi) from civilization, but I won't be coming back. read more

Nice renovations! Friendly staff. But, something about Internet service at Hilton properties in Norfolk is not right. Spotty connections. Kicked off mid stream. Just not professional for the year 2016. The 3rd floor ice machine was broken. Has been for 3 years, but the 1st floor machine is working. The new renovations didn't leave much counter space. So for those of us that travel weekly, bathroom was not comfortable. We will be here just about every fall weekend for ODU field hockey games, so, we will be staying there a lot. So convenient. If so, then you'll over look the rates and accomodations for the sheer convenience. The hotel was dingy. The chair and the desk were at different heights, making it awesome to use the desk. I don't think the rates here are bad for an older Hampton. Here's a few things: The fitness room has free weights. That's a plus. Most Hamptons I've stayed in have only cardio in the fitness room. The rooms are remodeled within the last 3 years. They have flat panel TVs and the furniture is all in good shape. The guy at the front desk told me a common area remodeling is forthcoming. Speaking of the front desk-- I got the most enthusiastic, genuine welcome that I've ever had at a Hampton. He was working hard to check in three guests and answer the phones all at the same time and handled them with class. Yeah the views aren't interesting and the surrounding area is blah, but what do you expect when you book in the Naval Base area? The chair and desk are at different heights though (hat tip to Graham C.). I don't know what that's about, but you'll be kind of low riding if you are doing lots of desk work. read more

We booked the hotel to be near the Naval Station Base. The hotel is about 3 miles from the base, a perfect hotel is you are visiting a sailor. Tons of chain restaurants within a block Taco Bell, McDonalds, Mike's Pizza, Hardees, etc. It was a very quiet hotel. My husband and I are both very light sleepers. Never heard people next door or doors slamming. The staff was extremely polite. Every employee said good morning, hope you have a good day & how can I help you. They were very helpful with finding morning coffee places (not Starbucks) & restaurants. Having a sailor in Norfolk, we will definitely stay there again. read more

Arrived late at night, so I'm impressed with the greeting when I arrived to get a room. Lobby very welcoming, and tidy. Not many rooms available though. However, I was able to get a king sized bed with a whirlpool tub. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to try out this whirlpool, even after my long 4 hour plus drive. Parking appeared to be good. It wraps around in a "U" shape, which is choice if you're staying in the rear of the hotel. Very close to Naval Station, some fast food, and a few other restaurants. Nothing too interesting in the immediate area, be mindful that this portion of Norfolk isn't the best, but it's not the worst. Customer service was good overall; check-in/out process was effortless. At check-in I was given directions to my room and was provided info. about breakfast in the morning. At check-out I was asked if I enjoyed the stay. Breakfast choices were decent, most of it is set up in a small room adjacent to the seating area and the front desk. They had make your own waffles, oatmeal, cold cereal, pastries, etc. Basic stuff and it's free, so no complaints. Was pressed for time, so I regret not making waffles. Hallways were clean and so was the room (towels, furnishings, bathroom, and bedding). It was a smoking room and I could not tell the difference. I wore white socks, and my socks were spotless. Also, the air-conditioning was in working order (cold air). Bed/pillows comfortable. Now, I'll shift gears. A light turned on by itself one time (for some odd reason). The ceiling was unprofessionally repaired, which was a very sloppy job. This is the first hotel I've stayed at where towels are folded and stowed on a wood shelf below the sink. In addition, carpet is noticeably worn in spots throughout. Seemed to me the TV volume is kept at a controlled setting and I could not hear some channels. When other guests shut the door to their room in the vicinity, it could be heard inside my room; it was very obvious. Price of a nights stay is high considering the area and such things explained above. I would recommend in a pinch and I would consider staying again. read more

Hampton Inn is A-OK. It's a little old, with some fancy decorative decals slapped on doors and walls to make it look more modern and chic. The front desk staff were friendly and eager to please. The room was fine - no complaints - fairly average. I slept fine - no issues with the bed. There is no thermostat - just a fan speed control and a red-to-blue temperature dial on the A/C unit in the window. The fitness center has one treadmill, one sit-down bike, one elliptical, a few weights and exercise balls. Surprised how much they charge and that they didn't offer the military rate when I was there. I normally stay on base, but all the lodging on base was full this time and I got to stay in the Hampton Inn instead. It's definitely close and convenient to the Navy base. The hotel itself was fine and the rooms were ok. Our issue came with the night clerk video taping into someone's private bedroom. My husband and I witnessed the night clerk reaching his arm so to record (we think) into a residents room. When he heard us talking about it he immediately pulled his phone to his ear and pretended to be speaking on the phone then promptly walked around the hotel. My husband confirmed it was a residents room by counting the windows and aligning it up on the inside of the building. The amenities were decent. It's like staying at an average Best Western. The staff were very helpful but the location is not that close to a lot of the major points of interest on base. I found out, the hard way, that if it's raining, walking from there to anywhere is a long walk. Reading previous high rated reviews, I'd hope their expectations are higher than being satisfied with 'no bugs.' They must've caught the breakfast area on a good day because I was there for a week and it was mediocre (although I won't say anything bad about free or complimentary). Again, the staff really stood out to me and gave me the sense that they really wanted to be courteous and polite so I wouldn't give them anything below 3 stars just for that. read more

Spent a long weekend here with the wife. It's your typical Hampton Inn. Beds are comfortable, room is clean. There is an indoor pool and an exercise room. Breakfast is your typical Hampton Inn breakfast. The service here is wonderful. Everyone is extremely friendly. My only complaint is about the guy at the front desk named BranDon. He is a Steelers fan. I just don't think decent places should employ Steelers fans. :-) read more
