We stayed here on a business trip and, frankly, this hotel falls far short of basic standards. Despite repeated issues over the past eight years--including mold, outdated facilities, ill-fitting bed sheets, and plumbing problems like a stopped-up toilet--nothing seems to have improved. It's baffling how this hotel is still operating with such persistent problems. While the staff were friendly, that unfortunately doesn't make up for the ongoing maintenance and cleanliness issues. We are actively working with our company to have this hotel removed from the approved list, as it simply isn't acceptable for business travel or otherwise. I strongly advise travelers to consider other options until this place undergoes serious renovation and management overhaul. read more

I've stayed here previously and everything has always been good. This particular stay was good until after I checked out. I unfortunately left my Ghostbusters Classic Clogs in the room. Once I got home and took everything out of the car, that's when I realized that I left them. Of course I called the hotel to let them know and to see if housekeeping would be honest and turn them into the lost & found, however unfortunately she wasn't honest and STOLE my crocs because they were not turned in. When talking to the front desk person Eugene at the time he said that they weren't turned into the lost & found. Soooooo, if you stay there PLEASE before checking out, do a double and triple walkthrough of your room because certain housekeeping employees aren't HONEST and they are THIEVES. She must've really needed them BAD to have to steal someone else's shoes. Doesn't make any sense to me. read more

This is the worst hotel experience ever. We arrived November 30. The rooms are so small, there is hardly any room for suitcases. I had a 16 day stay planned, two people, lots of suitcases. I was surprised to see there was no cleaning of the room, even when requested so towels had to be picked up at the front desk which was not always easy.. No towels, etc. By December 3, I started to complain more loudly about the room. That night, when I returned, I noticed a very expensive pair of jeans were missing that were folded on top of a suitcase. When I looked inside the suitcase, I noticed right off the bat extra room, like more was missing. It ends up that another pair of jeans and 3 expensive insulated shirts were missing for sure. I will never know exactly what was stolen. Who inventories their suitcase? When I contacted the front desk about this, they said they would contact the manager. By Friday, December 5, Brian the manager still had not returned my call. I called back and insisted on talking to him. He was very angry when he finally answered the call. He claimed he cleaned the room himself and that he was positive nothing was stolen. I told him on 50 years of traveling I had never had a single item stolen until now. He said I was a liar that he was positive nothing was stolen from my room. He said if I continued claiming this theft that he would like me to leave the hotel. I called Hilton and they arranged another, much nicer Hampton on Battlefield, just 3 miles away. I told them I couldn't move until Friday at six and they said that was fine. When I check out of Hampton greenbriar they said they were charging me for Friday because I wasn't out early enough. The hotel looked to be was 1/3 full. When I got my bill, I was charged through Sunday for greenbriar and starting Friday for Battlefield, so the double charged me 3 days. I called Hilton numerous times, waiting for a total of 4 hours on hold. I filed a claim and after a week and no contact from Hilton on either the room overcharge or the stolen clothing, I called again. The claim number was no good. So I filed a second claim. Hilton or Hampton has not returned any calls nor have them made any adjustment to my bill or reimbursed me for over $1000 of stolen clothes. Brian is a vile, dishonest man, the hotel rooms are very small, but I will say, the breakfast area was managed very well at this location. I'm sure this is no thanks to Brian as he was some type of fill in manager for the actual manager who was away. read more

I have stayed here numerous times. The service at the front desk and at breakfast has always been very very nice. There are other locations I like better in Norfolk/VA Beach but this one I always get based on per diem. It's close to Eagles Nest which can be an entertaining place with some good bartenders. Hampton Inns are fairly consistent what makes this one better is really the front desk. read more

Enjoyed our stay here. room was clean and great size for two people. Customer service was beyond amazing!, check in was easy and everyone we came into contact with was extremely friendly and professional. had an issue with the fridge not working, maintenance came within 5 mins and replaced the whole thing (he reeked of weed every time we saw him). They don't offer cleaning or making of the bed daily unless requested. Breakfast was pretty standard (egg omelets, turkey bacon, bread, bagels, bananas, apples, muffins, cereals, yogurt, waffles, coffee, and oatmeal with toppings to add) over all the room was exactly what we needed for our 5day stay here. The ONLY thing preventing me from giving a 5-star review is the smell of cigarette smoke in our non-smoking room on our non-smoking floor. And honestly, the pet owners can keep their pet debris picked up but the smokers can leave the cigarette butts outside every entrance? The more crowded the city, the less luxurious of the hotels I expect or seek, for a good value. This Hampton Inn gets the job done. Parking, a place to sleep and breakfast is what you need and why you're coming here. I had a conference at another hotel to attend, but didn't want to spend their prices or be in the same hotel either. I also didn't have to worry about parking, so commuting made sense. I prefer Hampton Inns because their breakfast satisfies my family: the cereal and bagel lovers and the curious toddler who may want eggs or sometimes yogurt. read more

The hotel is a little outdated compared to other Hampton Inn locations. The staff is so rude! We went downstairs to get our bagged breakfast. Well, yeah, we were 3 minutes late, but there is no need to yell at us trying to get the bagged breakfast they had prepared on the counter. I'm not sure who those bagged breakfast were for, but for sure not for us. The staff did not wear mask correctly, and hand sanitizer by the elevator ran out for days and not being replaced. It's nice to get the "Lysol" sticker on the door, but I could see dust on the window and on top of the AC unit. Good thing I brought disinfectant. read more

Oh my gosh, The best sleep I've had in so long. My partner and I originally got the hotel just so we can use the pool, Which of course was very nice, but the room. Let's talk about that. Super clean, Every room was sealed with Lysol protection. The bed was super crispy and cold, Mattress was so comfortable. The soaps they give you are Neutrogena, Which for a hotel, Is surprising. Anyways, I literally am booking another night here ASAP, just because of how nice the room was. I truly felt like I was in a castle. read more

It sucks that I have to write this because I am a Hilton owner and all I stay in is Hilton. This was the worst experience I've ever had from the room to the complimentary continental breakfast. The rooms were dirty and the showers were moldy. The bed's mattress cover was on backwards so you can tell there is a lack of effort and attention to detail. Counter staff was very nice Room was very nice. One of the sugar packet things was open in the coffee maker area of my room which was weird. My toilet handle broke and someone came up to fix it as soon as I asked for the help. The breakfast was nothing to wright home about. I only got a muffin and some coffee. They just didn't have that many options. The room had a bit of a Smokey smell. I really noticed it when I first got in my room and now after I've left it's smell is on my clothes and blankets and pillows and stuff. Overall it was a decent stay. read more

This place has potential for a 5 for a Hampton Inn. Checking in was a breeze, the new girl on the counter appropriately sought out assistance with a veteran colleague, and she handed me a bottle of water while I waited for her to give me my room keys. The room I reserved for 1 night had 2 queen beds, a fridge and a microwave, was clean with plenty of towel, and has all the necessary toiletries although I always bring our own Dove soap, and other personal hygiene necessities. It was a very short stay but the limited interactions with the staff were pleasant, and truly, the place was not bad for this lower end of the Hilton brand. Indeed, the overall interior was very clean although the location itself, was near the road, with limited grassy area...The location itself has different points of busy streets leading to, and off to the side towards back of the hotel was a major road. Still, for the well-intended reason of being friendly to pet, this hotel deserves an excellent rating. I was just a little letdown for it was missing the point a bit...ugh, I wanted so bad to give this place 5 stars rating. If I didn't know it was pet friendly, I would not have guessed it because it really was an adequate very clean (interior) hotel. The very reason for choosing this Hotel was their pet friendly policy; and that alone for me deserves 5 stars, BUT I am only giving 4 because it could use some improvements on the grounds (pet friendly in mind). I don't always travel with a pet, this was one of rare moments. However, I think that if a hotel caters to folks with pets, I expect there to be a good place outside for the pets relief. While narrow, the one somewhat acceptable grassy area was closest to the road on an upgraded hill and would have been okay if not for the grass/lawn looking malnourished. I would compare it to a thinning hair line, for lack of a comparison. Further, that area need some cleaning and grooming for my Tucker's delicate sensibilities were definitely irritated!!! Tucker and I would absolutely stay here again and would like to give them 5 stars but only if the landscape and grounds are improved with pet friendly in mind! Still, it deserves 4 stars with potential for 5. read more

We stayed here for a weekend get-a-way and noticed the following items: In the hallway, I saw that the rail was missing and there was broken piece of edge that was sticking and could cause serious injury to another guest. In the breakfast area, there was very limited breakfast options and the staff were not very pleasant (the front desk staff were even more friendly, I also saw the hotel manager emptying the trash cans)! Loved the David's Cookies at check-in!! In our room: the toilet flushed very slow, at times having to hold down the handle to make sure it flushed. The AC unit was very noisy and loud. I thought that a plane was taking off and landing every 10 minutes. I had to turn up the volume of the TV to offset it. Speaking of the TV, 32' is really small for a large room, we had a king size room. In the bathroom, the nob for the shower was very tight and made a squeaky sound every time you turned it. The exhaust for the shower seemed like it was taking out the steam quickly enough and wasn't powerful. It did when I opened the bathroom door, unsteamed in 2 minutes, but the other end: it made the room very muggy. I am very familiar with the Hilton brands but sorry to say that this property doesnt meet my Hampton 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. read more

I don't often give 5 stars, but my stay at the Hampton Inn Chesapeake-Greenbrier earned it. Check in was a breeze. Toni at the front desk was friendly and helpful. While I'm a Hilton Honors member, I don't travel enough to have some special high status, which is usually what it takes to get anything at all at check-in. The bottle of water was a welcome thank you even for just a regular Honors member. My room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. The room was a nice size. No complaints at all. The window was a little bit small, so there wasn't a lot of natural light, but that was not a problem. Free wifi connected easy and performed well, even for streaming video! Breakfast started at 6 am, even on a Sunday, which was very convenient since I had to be on the road by 7. Many hotel breakfasts don't start until at least 7 on the weekends. Breakfast offerings were typical for Hampton. Everything was plentiful and well-stocked. Great experience thanks to the staff who keep the place clean, prepare the food, and welcome the guests! read more

We stayed here one night while stopping to visit friends before going to the OBX the next day. The hotel was very nice. The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is a little dated but they have done a good job keeping things up to date (except for the elevators...). The only issue we had is that a very loud fight broke out in the parking lot around 1am and lasted for at least 30 minutes. This woke my wife up and kept her up for a while. This could have been the hotel not calling for help or the police not getting their fast enough, I do not know. I am not counting it against the hotel though. We will defiantly consider staying here again. read more

This is a decent hotel, nothing fancy, but definitely clean and a good option if you're on a budget. Me and a group of friends did a staycation, and was not planning on being in the hotel except to sleep so this was a good option. We liked that they offered a free buffet, but after looking at the options they had available (there wasn't much) and the crowd up people, we just decided to go out. The front desk person was extremely nice and unlike other Hilton brand hotels, I appreciate the complimentary water/sodas and snacks that were in the lobby. The room was taken care of, although the bed wasn't as comfortable as I had hoped and for the 4 people the bathroom is tiny. I will recommend this to others from out of town if they just want a place to lay there head, but if wanting a more upscale experience, definitely not. read more

Stayed there this past weekend after the snow storm. Parking lot was terrible. Only area clean was under the shelter. Park at your own risk. Then the rooms were ok until I noticed pet hairs on clothing after placing them on the bed. The breakfast was good and staff very friendly but I would not stay again because obviously not properly cleaned after pets. They should have designated rooms for people with pets. So I decide to stay here at the last minute due to a weather related airport delay. While I didn't except the accommodations and amenities of a 4 or 5 star (which I rarely have to review because their reputation and ratings which speak for itself), I did expect a vermin free environment! On the day of check out, I go to the bathroom to take a shower and was greeted by a dead( thank God!) roach. I call the front desk, she apologizes and ask do I want maintenance or would I just come downstairs. I told her I would be down at checkout. Now, considering I had snacks in my room etc, it nearly nauseated me to think one could've crawled on my food! God forbid I back up one to take home!! Yikes!! OK, I have stayed at this Hampton Inn probably 10 times. It is not the greatest and like I said before, could use a proper remodeling, but it suits my purpose for a night or so. In my past reviews, I have noticed that even though you make a reservation and actually pay for it as well, they still will give the best rooms out to the folks that check in first. Needless to say, I asked for a room closest to the back exit doors (since I have a dog) and when I arrived at 2:30am from NY, I got the room right next to the elevators and near the front desk. Fine...I have dealt with that before...What I haven't dealt with is the fact that they neglected to vacuum the carpet? There was white dog hair on the carpet (my dog is black) and the room reeked of cigarette smoke, even though it was a nonsmoking room. This made me second guess EVERYTHING I touched in the room. Not a good feeling at all. The front desk dude assured me that it was a nonsmoking room, but there is no way...Maybe it is a nonsmoking room but the last guest DID smoke. My clothes stunk of it the next day. I am disappointed and am not sure if I'll return. read more

I am writing this review not for the whole property, but for the friendly and helpful housekeeping staff. I left my iPad in my room. It took a month or so for me to figure out where I left it. After I contacted housekeeping, specifically Michelle Lester, it was sent to me immediately. She was gracious and kind, making me feel like a valued guest instead of a silly dummy. While we do like the Hampton Inn, this one is not located within walking distance of any restaurants, shopping etc. There are two malls nearby, but you have to cross a major highway and there are no sidewalks to get there. There is a pool, which is nicely maintained. read more

The first time we stayed here for 4th of July weekend was fine (early check in, late check out, plenty of breakfast bags, clean room and friendly staff) except the day we were checking out there were cops and interviewing the staff in the hallway and we overheard that someone was found dead in the room. We also found caps of needles outside. Despite all that, we came back from our trip symptom free from our stay since it seemed like the hotel was cautious with the whole pandemic, we decided to stay here for the Labor Day weekend. I invited my whole family including my parents and brothers who all got their own rooms. But this time our stay was not so great. Our room on the second floor smelled like smoke and when we would get out of the shower, we'd always sneeze. I thought it was either the chemicals they use to clean the bathroom or something in the water. But when I would inhale my chest would hurt like I've been inhaling chemicals/ chlorine which was weird. I didn't want to complain and end up in a worse room. The remote in our room didn't work also. The lady who was giving out the breakfast sandwiches was SUPER rude. Also when they say breakfast is until 10 a.m. not true! Came down at 9:15 a.m. with my whole family and they said they were out of food. So, make long story short I had a gut feeling that we should've stayed somewhere else. Being a Hilton member, was def not a Hilton experience at the Hampton Inn. I truly feel bad that I dragged my parents and brothers here when we should've paid extra somewhere else. What we overheard when we were checking out from our first stay should've been a red flag for us to stay there again. There will be no next time for sure! read more

Stayed here for a couple nights during the fall. The building is quite old and could use a renovation. I stayed in the King suite. Which was nice pretty nice for the price. The beds are comfy, the staff is pretty down to earth, but the water pressure in this place will drive you nuts. It's barely a steady stream in the morning, and a fire-hydrant at night. It's in a convenient and inconvenient spot at the spot at the same time. Anyone who knows Greenbrier PKWY, knows the struggle. Hampton Inn Woodlake: Simply fixing the water pressure and renovations will bring this site up to par with Battlefield Blvd address. read more
