Stayed here one night in order to see the Mesa Verde National Park. The hotel was in a convenient location in relation to the park and the city. The room was a nice size and the beds were comfortable. The only negative is that the air conditioning unit was placed in the middle of the window and the heavy curtains were framing the sides of the window meaning a sheer curtain was in the middle of the window. Light could enter through the sheer curtain so if light bothers you, this may not be the hotel for you. I was fine but my friend got no sleep. They did offer a small breakfast which was nice. I would stay here again as the curtains did not bother me and it was convenient to to town and the park.

We drove a marathon day from southern California into Cortez to line ourselves up for the next day at Mesa Verde National Park.

Good experience at the White Eagle while spending the night from Pennsylvania and exploring Mesa…read moreVerde. Held our breath while opening the door to the room, but room 17 was clean and well equipped with 3 double beds for our family of 5. Cable TV worked well, internet took a few minutes to connect but worked fine, and showers were hot. Other patrons were quiet and caused no disturbances. Only issue was the tub drain that did not drain, but after borrowing a plunger and attempting to gain flow, the manager gave me the room key to the room next door so we could continue our shower process. Problem solved! It is family- run establishment, which I like to support- and although dated, it was clean, convenient, and at $147, more affordable than other options in Cortez. Thanks, White Eagle!

**Family-Owned, Clean Pet-Friendly Motel That Checks All the Boxes**…read more The White Eagle Inn was a very nice stop to recharge on our way to New Mexico. Being a family-owned hotel with just three owners in 60 years, it was satisfying to support a local business run by two charismatic and enthusiastic owners that deeply care about their property rather than another hotel chain run by the "Big Six" (IHG, Choice, Wyndham, Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton). We arrived late at night, but the owners were so kind to arrange a late check-in process. Check-in time is from 3-9 so they were generous to accommodate us. The late check in was convenient and socially distant. The owner Kellie even sent ice to our freezer! Nice touch. -Location: The hotel is located right off the highway through Cortez, though a little removed from the city center. -The Hotel: White Eagle has a homey, down-to-earth yet earnest feel. It is a lovely throwback! There are 16 rooms and a nice picnic area with grill. There are 2 areas for the furbabies. Pet friendly but you absolutely need to declare your animals. Rooms are a single level motel format with quaint front desk area. -The Room: We had the triple room 17 which was very comfortable with three double beds. It is located at the end of the motel and has two chairs and a table in front. The room was clean and had retro wood paneling and traditional lamp shades. The bathroom was properly sealed and very clean. There is a table and chairs for eating as well as desk with chair. The beds are a bit springy but nice. It was so nice to have three beds for three travelers. Light fixture above window may need some dusting (mostly negligible but just wanted to point it out). Room blackouts out with ease for easy sleep. The bathroom had tile floors and the shower was very quiet. The water pressure is lower, but this is the desert! Perfectly understandable. However, the hot and cold faucet knobs took more adjusting to get the right temperature (bounced between very hot and very cold fast). They did not skimp, with tons of towels, washcloths, toilet paper, and shampoos/soap (came in individual packages) in the room which was so welcome! A/C ran consistently and the room stayed cool in the Colorado heat. Two important notes are that check out is at 10 AM and that there is no breakfast (though there is tea and coffee). Better get your early bird game on and get the worms! Check out is seamless, just put the key in a drop-off at the lobby door. The owner Mark personally sent us goodbye and gave us some great recommendations for the area. Positives: + Enthusiastic Staff + Three Beds Option + Tons of Towels + Quiet Shower + Only 16 Rooms + Easy Check In and Check Out + Great Value Neutrals: / Location Quips: - No Breakfast (understandable with COVID) - 10 AM Check In (due to COVID) - Knobs on Shower Overall White Eagle Inn was fantastic and we will definitely return when we see Mesa Verde! Excellent Value! 106 for a clean room and three beds is unbeatable.

I'd leave zero if I could…read more I made a reservation, that was all well and good. Then I had to cancel my reservation four days prior to our arrival. We got word that my mother in law was very ill and was going to die. We had to cancel our travel plans. I called immediately and spoke to a woman at the front desk. She said she would take care of it. Stupid me, I trusted her. She didn't. A few weeks later, I see a one night charge on my card (that's their policy, if you're a no-show you're charged one night). Uh, no, I called and canceled! So I called again and asked to speak to the manager. That was a no, he doesn't take phone calls and I had to email him. I did. Twice. No response. I submitted a dispute with my credit card but I shouldn't have to. This bonehead of a manager should 1) take calls from confused (and now, angry) guests) and 2) respond to emails. So, screw you Best Western Turquoise Inn. The manager there is a jerk and the front desk woman I spoke with is incompetent. You can bet your ass we will never stay at your hotel. Not only did we lose my mother in law, but I was wrongfully charged $60 despite me being responsible and canceling. I'm being punished for your employee's lack of follow through.

Absolutely terrible. Almost all channels didn't work on the tv and I was traveling with kids. Staff…read moreis so rude and unprofessional. The manager is no where to be seen. I booked a one night room for my nephew's birthday way before the pool broke down. I drove all the way from California to be with them. When I got there and told them the situation they said I can have a refund for the one night on his birthday because I booked it before the pool notice was up. They needed a manager to assist with this but she wasn't in. I stayed an additional 7 nights and went to the front desk everyday and the manager was never there. I gave my room number and left my personal name and number. Never got my refund. Seems shady to me.

What a prize! I was driving east through Arizona to Colorado…read moreand just couldn't drive anymore. When I arrived in Cortez, CO I decided I would stop. I looked on Google for hotels, but all the listings (commercial ads) were $90+ so I pulled into a place that the place with the sign that said, "Historic Hotel, Low Rates, Free Wifi". The office staffer, Connie, was amazingly nice. She gave me a "National Park Pass" discount of $10 so my room was under $70. Price is nice, but the room was truly "historic" AND very clean. Queen bed with lots of room to walk around it and a large bathroom. Plus the Wifi was lightening fast. I download all my photos from the Grand Canyon without so much as a slow down. I'd like to come stay here as a weekend destination get away; too bad its 1400 miles from my home.

Given the reviews here and on the other sites, I was expecting a well above average motel. But it…read moreappears there was a recent change in ownership and, with those ownership changes, came changes in hospitality and the guest experience. I stayed here in August 2019, which judging by past reviews, was shortly after the change in ownership. Check-in was alright and I was directed to a room in the front of the property. When I pulled up to my room, a staff member doing work on the came up to me and asked for my room key so he could turn on the AC and make sure the room was ready...okay. This might just be my New York paranoia talking, but I gave the room a thorough inspection when I got inside. The room was a 50s motel room, which was about what I expected. Furniture was dated, but it was clean. The internet password was not posted prominently and required me to read the fine print in the guide. Most hotels post the wifi password prominently and don't expect you to spend 15 minutes looking all over the room for it. Once I got that settled, the room was generally quiet and comfortable. The next morning, renovation work was going on pretty early in the morning. Thankfully, I wanted an early start anyway, so I wasn't bothered. This property worked for the night, but I'm not sure I'd return. Independent motels are always a gamble and, unfortunately, this one didn't live up to the past reviews.

A bunch of the photos on here are flat out not this property. This is a motel, no bones about it…read more The room doors open to the parking lot. My husband & I had come out for a memorial service for his step daughter . We drove from California…read moreand it was a long tiring drive especially because we were both not feeling well! Unfortunately, we had to move our room each night due to problems with the rooms. It was difficult enough being there for the memorial of my husband's child, but also that neither one of us were feeling good and having to move room to room made things worse! This shouldn't have happen in any hotel! The hotel is older and is quite rundown in some areas it needs improvement! The hotel itself is not bad as far as layout with pool in middle and nice plants but in whole , it definitely needs some work to repair those things . On the other hand, the day crew each day were outstanding, and several employees went out of their way to do what they could to accommodate. The number one person there was Amy, she was outstanding in every way Customer service oriented and very friendly, and did what she could to accommodate . There was also Shaunna, who was informative regarding the town and Nick who was very good in the kitchen and helped me to room with some food without me asking. He saw the need to help and offered! If it wasn't for those employees, our time with you guys would've been extremely bad & a disappointment.

First I'll mention my only two complaints: 1) the shower didn't have any shelves to set my stuff on, and 2) the kitchenette didn't have any dishes, pots, pans, or utensils. Luckily I didn't need to use the kitchenette, but it would have been nice to know I needed to bring my own kitchenware ahead of time. Now for the positives: the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, and the shower was hot. I read some reviews about the shower not being hot, and I actually had some friends staying in a different room, and they said their shower wasn't hot. My shower actually started off lukewarm, but after a few minutes it was hot, so all good there! I had a fridge, a microwave, the A/C worked great, the TV was good, and there was a coffee maker too! Next, I have to say that the breakfast was fantastic! It is very difficult to know what the breakfast will be like before you're actually there. I had scrambled eggs, sausage patties, potatoes with bell peppers, toast with butter and jelly, coffee, and orange drink. There were also bagels, cream cheese, cereal, milk, and a waffle maker available! The staff were very friendly as well! This place was a bargain! I highly recommend!
