It was super late when we arrived at the hotel and my kids were beyond tired. Check in was a breeze and we were in our room in a matter of minutes. The room was very clean. A little on the small side, but very clean. They have a nice pool area as well as a fitness room with weights and treadmills etc. All of these areas are open for business although I did not use any of the facilities. Breakfast is being served here and there was a nice variety of items to meet pretty much every diet. Oatmeal with different toppings, waffles, western omelettes, sausage patties, breads, muffins, fruit, yogurt, cereal... you name it it was there. There aren't too many places to choose from in this little town but I highly recommend this hotel for their prompt service, clean rooms and good breakfast!

We came to this location for the Pageant and nearby historic attractions in Nauvoo, Illinois. We were very impressed with the housekeeping and the cleanliness of our room. The beds were very comfortable (and firm) and we loved the fluffy pillows and towels provided by the hotel. We requested additional pillows that the staff immediately provided. The breakfast was very good with a great selection of food that met the individual needs of our entire family- we had three children and a picky eater with us that were satisfied. The breakfast staff made sure all of the breakfast items were well prepared and available. Also, the drive to/from Nauvoo from this location is easy and nice. It's only 23-minutes and very scenic along the Mississippi River on the Illinois side. We plan to come back to visit Nauvoo and will stay at the Fairfield Inn.

The pool and hot tub are never at a temperature to make them desirable to be used. I am guessing this is because the staff doesn't want to have to maintain them from regular use. I was told the hot tub has been a "cold" tub for years. The tvs were intermittent for two evenings that we used them. I added a 2nd star for proximity walking to a couple food establishments and a large store. The breakfast buffet was okay and the staff working that area were the kindest (earning the 3rd star) we interacted with during our stay.

I'd like to start out by saying, this review was 100% EARNED. I honestly cannot say enough good…read moreabout this place, and the staff who work there. I'm native to the Keokuk area. Born and raised. I moved to the St. Louis Area around five years ago. Whenever I needed a place to stay in Keokuk, I stayed at the Baymont. First, I'd like to give the General Manager, Courtney, the credit she deserves. She's stuck through SEVERAL owners over the past few years, each of who always promised big things, and renovations which never happened. To my knowledge, she's "re-opened" the doors to that place on at least two separate occasions. - Just a couple short years ago, the building was in need of a MAJOR facelift. It sat with the doors locked up for quite awhile, as the people who owned it went bankrupt. At that time, the rooms (and facilities within them) were all old and out dated. The mattresses were used and abused, the towels were pretty much all the same way, the heating/cooling units in the rooms hardly worked, or were noisy, the pool sat empty, and in need of repair, but I still chose to stay there for a couple reasons. First and foremost, it was the staff. They always were and always are kind, and willing to do anything within their abilities to ensure you have a good stay. Secondly, in the approaching hundred nights that I've stayed here, I've never once seen any sort bugs, and the rooms, bedding, and towels have always been clean and fresh. - After sitting closed for over a year, I'm going to fast forward to 2021. The hotel was once again purchased, and the doors reopened. I began staying there throughout the week (for work) shortly after it opened back up, and the new owners IMMEDIATELY began renovating. I will say, for someone who has no clue of the history of this building, or what all was done during said renovations, it was extremely tedious, messy, and just down right not a fun experience for the staff OR the guests. Things were dusty, there were workers going in and out all day, every day, there was paint splattered in the elevator, and you couldn't even access the breakfast or workout area, as it was completely filled with a semi truck load of BRAND NEW pillow-top mattresses. Yet every morning and night I was greeted by a staff member with a huge smile on their face, and a glimmer of hope in their eyes. - Last night, I stayed at the hotel for the first time in roughly six months. I requested one of the hot tub suites, and was given room 420. I was blown away by the amount of improvements which had been made. The rooms have new EVERYTHING! New beds, pillows, and bedding, new hardwood flooring, new paint, new tub surrounds, new sinks and countertops, a new couch, new 40" flat screen tv's big fluffy towels, new heating/ac units. Yes, she's still a little rough around the edges, but progress is being made daily! - In closing, I've looked over some of the negative reviews that lurks over this place, and while I can't speak for other people, I wanted to include my own honest opinion. As far as druggies, or crackheads hanging around outside, that's just not true. In the past, maybe, but that is no more. Not only that, but do some research on the town. Unfortunately, Keokuk is a dying river town, which has had its fair share of problems, be it crime, drugs, mismanagement, and the closure of many local businesses. The fact that this building, which first opened in 1968, is still standing, and providing Keokuk with jobs, and a hospitality service to people passing through, I feel, has been extremely overlooked. - To put it into perspective for those who are passing through, or even the locals, construction began on the Keokuk Mall which sits directly across the street from the Baymont, right around the same time the "Holiday Inn" (what this hotel originally was) opened its door. Go look at the state of that building, and compare. - To the new owners, and all the staff, and on behalf of this town, THANK YOU for all that you do.

Ive never ever experienced anything like this and ive been in some questionable rooms before but at least they were clean.

The staff has always been very helpful, and even quickly mailed back my wife's pillow when she forgot it in the room. This is certainly not the most fancy hotel in town, but it's a good place to stay for the value. -- It's just after 4am on a Tuesday. Why am I awake at 4am? Well because someone at the front desk gave my wife and I a wake up call, a wake up call at 4am we certainly didn't order. Now I would be willing to let this mistake go if it was the only one during our 4 day stay, but alas it's not. This was the second call from the front desk to negatively affect our sleep. The first one was at 12am, yes midnight, on Sunday (or Monday depending on how you look at it). Someone at the front desk couldn't find a card for our room (or something?) So their solution was to call and wake us up at 12am. Why? I have no idea. And just mere hours before we had to wake up for a funeral no less. So now that while I'm awake in the middle of the night again, why am I writing this review now? Well because I can't fall back to sleep due to all the clanging showers, banging drawers, and slamming doors of the thoughtful people in the rooms next to us. The kind of people who would actually order wake up calls at 4am I guess. Thanks again Super 8 Front Desk. I'm really glad to be looking at my phone, all bleary-eyed, before dawn. And before I have to start the 500 mile drive home this morning of course. On a positive note, this hotel is cheaper than most is town, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. We have stayed here a few times now and had fine experiences.

The innkeeper was kind and welcoming, but also gave us space...breakfast was plentiful--eggs, sausage, toast, and coffee. They do take special dietary requests, and asked us about that when we arrived... Our room (we stayed in the main house) was decorated with antiques and wonderful old quilts, and faced the iron wagon bridge spanning the Des Moines River...we walked back and forth across this bridge several times. Next to the inn are several interesting shops with varying hours of operation...the general store was fun to browse through, and sells awesome homemade fudge. We did not have an in-room refrigerator, and didn't expect one but would recommend bringing a small cooler if wanting to keep drinks or food cold for more than a few hours (I did notice a mini fridge in the dining room)....also, most of the toiletries are provided upon request only. The inn has a colorful past which was fun to read about. If wanting a peaceful and interesting getaway I'd highly recommend staying here!
