A very nicely seasoned Black Bean Soup. A very fresh and delicious Navajo Taco.

The Reuben Heflin Restaurant inside the Hampton Inn in Kayenta, AZ is a fantastic local dining spot. The whole experience was excellent. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the southwest and native inspired menu. The atmosphere was classic southwest. The food was wonderful.

Friendly people working the front desk and my room was clean (although no frills). Hot breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage, bagels, oranges, waffles etc. Overall, this property met my expectation for a Hampton Inn.

Love the hotel! Very nice! The staff is great and room was clean and the gift shop was awesome! Everything in the room was new with the Navajo native design. Pictures and even curtains was nice! So don't mines staying here again when I'm in town visiting family! Thank you Hilton and keep up the great work

If you stay here, be very careful not to forget anything. We left behind a ring that mysteriously was never found.

The location alone makes this place special. That said, the accommodations themselves were not very impressive. The rooms feel very outdated, and the floors are quite dainty. There's also no microwave in the room, which would have been convenient. On a positive note, the side wall insulation was surprisingly good--we couldn't hear a newborn, two young kids, or their parents next door at all but upper floors were paper thin we could hear people walking and slamming balcony door. One unexpected highlight of our stay was a white, fluffy dog that kept coming outside our balcony. I completely fell in love with my furry visitor. When I asked the receptionist, I was told the dog has an owner praying she was right and it was not a stray which was reassuring I think :( --but the night before checkout, it rained heavily, and I couldn't help but worry about my little friend. Thankfully, the next morning when I opened the curtains, the dog was there waiting, as if to say goodbye. That moment truly warmed my heart and wished I could take her home. I hope to see her soon. We also had the best view from our balcony to watch fireworks to welcome the New Year! Overall, we had a great experience because of the views, location, and peaceful atmosphere. However, if management were to reconsider remodeling and updating the rooms, this place could easily be 100% better and match the beauty of its surroundings. The girls in the office are so nice and pleasant! We would stay here again, maybe stay in a cabin next time.

The walls were thin and you can hear people walking upstairs. Our upstairs neighbors didn't stop walking until after midnight. Worst night at a hotel. The patio is nice with great views. I wish this facility had a complimentary coffee and hot water like other hotels. I would have given them a 5 even after my terrible night.

Ilene is a very nice, accommodating, hospitable woman who opens her home to guests from all over the world looking to explore and experience the "West." (She's well reviewed on Google!) Having said that, your experience here is more like a stay at your Auntie's house, not a 5 star hotel with a butler service! Here's what to expect: clean house with access to kitchen; mini-fridge to store your perishables; basic, comfortable rooms; clean bathroom with towel included; good WiFi (I didn't have phone service while I was there); soft, red sand to bury your tired toes in; lots of sitting areas in front of the house to watch a beautiful sunset against the iconic Monument Valley red rocks; 30min short hike out back to Tear Drop Arch; amazing night sky; friendly, curious cat named Kyle to pet at your pleasure; grill available for your use; Navajo fry bread breakfast can be arranged. Anything else you need, just ask! Ilene is a very nice, local, Native business owner. If you are looking for a room, call Ilene between 9am-6pm Mountain Standard Time (US) to book one of the comfortable, basic rooms in the main house or the cute little cabin next door with it's own AC unit (a popular option apparently). If you are budget conscious, you can pitch a tent or car-camp in her yard for cheap. Walk-ins are welcome, but call ahead of time just to make sure there is a room available or space for you in her yard AND she knows when to expect you. Once you book, consider these BEFORE heading there for a more pleasant arrival and stay! 1) FOLLOW THE RED LINE TO THE YELLOW X on the map (see picture)! Lots of people get lost using GPS to get there...me included! 2) The location is on soft, red sand so be careful not to get stuck on the way up. 4x4 recommended but not necessary. 3) There are a handful of dogs that run around the neighborhood freely. If you are allergic or afraid of dogs, watch out! Also, some like to bark at night...BRING EARPLUGS! 4) If you are planning on pitching a tent, make sure to bring some heavy duty stakes to stake your tent down. There were a few bursts of wind that rocked my car the night I stayed there (car-camping).

This was definitely staying in someone's home and not any kind of luxury B&B. The house was air conditioned but not our room, so we slept with the door open. That said, everyone was welcoming and friendly. The shower and bathroom (shared with other guests, including those in the adjacent cabin, was new and spick-and-span, with plenty of supplies. Breakfast was lovely: we could help ourselves to cereal, juice, coffee, and fix our own eggs. There's a very friendly black cat, and a cute dog. We arrived after sunset, and left after breakfast to tour Monument Valley, so weren't able to enjoy time relaxing outside.

The location was close and it was a comfortable stay. Our room was nice, especially with the comfortable bed. In fact, of all the places we stayed at during our Arizona road trip, I'd say this hotel had the most comfortable bed. We only stayed for one night and since we had a lot of hiking planned, we needed to get up early. But I truly could've slept here for hours! If only... In addition to a comfortable bed, there was a mini fridge, TV with cable, free wifi, coffee and tea with a Keurig machine, toiletries, hair dryer, AC, etc. Our room was also on the bottom level, so we had sliding patio doors that walked out to the pool. The upper levels had balconies. The only bummer about staying here was that we thought there would be a continental breakfast, which is what Holiday Inn is known for. Unfortunately, there is no free breakfast. They do have a restaurant in the hotel, and it closes at 8pm. (We learned this the hard way.) Also, there were a ton of stray dogs around, which we didn't mind. But something to note if you don't like or are scared of dogs. They didn't bother the guests. We tried to feed them whatever food we had since they sadly looked hungry. Poor babies! Overall, this was a good stay. If you're in the area and are planning to visit Canyon De Chelly, you can't beat this location. And you'll want to sleep in the bed all night and morning long!

Cost us only $48/night when the other cheapest hotel within 200 miles was $129.99 and not much better, nicer hotels were in the $200-$300 range and they were really not that nice for the price. The bed was average, but the AC worked well, and what impressed me was the owner was willing to make an exception to the no pets policy and let our little Westie stay for just an additional $10/night. Oh another note if you are heading up to this area: the wi-fi (if it works) will be not much faster than dial up and your cellphone will only get signal if it is one of the older generation devices (iPhone 5S = not going to work, iPhone 5 will partially work, iPhone 4S will work but it will be spotty and data random) so be prepared to be unplugged for a while!

I needed a clean room with a hot shower and a clean bed and this is exactly what I got. I did not need a TV or Wi-fi or a coffee maker or room service or a spa or valet service, and because of that, I was able to save a lot of money. The YouTube reviewer said it had no AC, which I was prepared for but my room actually had an AC unit blowing nice cool air, so that was a delightful surprise! I was very comfortable in the room and had plenty of space for my duffel bag, cooler, and camera gear. There was even a table and two chairs for me to sit and fix myself a sandwich. Also the owner Juanita is very friendly and accommodating, even going as far as to offer to freeze my gallon jug of water so I could put it in my cooler the next morning to keep my food refrigerated. She even met me in the parking lot the next morning at 5:30am with my frozen water in hand. The owner is very knowledgeable about the area and had great tips on other sites to see in the area. The place was quiet and extremely affordable. It is very easy to find and conveniently located right off of U.S. Route 163 so that you can quickly be on your way to other destinations such as Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. There is a 7-11 right next door for drinks and snacks and gas.
