Stayed here recently on the third floor in a room with a balcony overlooking the pool and river. If Yelp allowed half stars, I'd give them 3.5, and here's why: Pros: - Every employee we interacted with at both the front desk and breakfast were friendly - Free breakfast had a variety of options - Location is convenient, just a short walk to the main stretch of town - Free parking during the stay - The room itself felt modern, and they were renovating the second floor while we were there Cons: - Cleanliness was lacking. The floor in our room did not feel clean. Behind and under visible areas of furniture I could see debris, and one night there was a cockroach crawling up the wall in our room. There was also a dirty Q tip in the hallway, and overflowing garbage cans in the hallway, that stayed like that from the time we checked in (5pm ish) until the following morning... I surprised they didn't have any staff checking the floors to clean more frequently. - Breakfast staff was keeping an eye on refilling hot food, but I didn't see them cleaning tables or refilling the other items. Also the TV in the breakfast area was playing Fox News which I felt wasn't very family friendly considering this is a family oriented hotel. Not sure if I'd stay here again. read more

Absolutely Disgusting Experience Getting ready for bed revealed hairs all over the pillows and bed--completely unacceptable and revolting! My wife had already been in the bed for 30 minutes before we noticed, which made it even worse. There were no other rooms available, so we had no choice but to check out and drive home late at night. While I was offered half off, that does nothing to make up for the gross negligence in cleanliness. When I complained to Hilton the next day, their 'solution' was to extend the expiration date of my points--an insultingly inadequate response. Rooms are HUGE! Bathroom had whirl pool, little dry bar with table and living room with fireplace. Breakfast was good, but packed! So go right in the beginning or at the end. i have very mixed feelings about this hotel. pros: - very convenient and close location to the main strip - beautiful river view -very friendly staff with great recommendations cons: - room was humid and smelt of soil? had to keep the air on 67 so the room didn't feel as wet. - called a few times out a spiderweb on our balcony which wasn't addressed until we asked the cleaning lady directly on our floor - a very large palmetto bug crawled on me during my sleep and woke me up, so i think they may benefit from some screened in patios. not sure if i would stay here again. read more

We like to give our business to the mom and pop businesses in an area but not seeing that any of the B&B's served a German style breakfast in their reviews, we decided to go with a Corp. business due to the location. Great walking distance to businesses while being a bit secluded. The staff was friendly, especially the lady responsible for the breakfast. She was attentive and friendly. The room was clean, looked like the bathroom had been remodeled within the last few years. The Hotel had a nice staff. The hotel is needing remodeled like most of Helen GA. The hotel is not anywhere near a $350 a night hotel. The Hotel is over priced. The rooms were a 9 of 10 on cleanliness but a 5 of 10 on needing updated. The breakfast area was hot. I asked them to at least turn on a fan, they did but we were all sweetie at this point. They had had the curbs recently painted and it looked like a 3 year old did it. The hotel is just not what I expect as a Diamond member with the Hilton family. It is in a fairly convenient area. We have stayed here twice during our visits to Helen. During this last trip, we came to stay after our elopement. We were upgraded to a River front room and the staff left us a sweet display. The location of the hotel is great, you can walk to everything. We love the River area with the fire pit and swings. Parking is covered which came in handy when it was raining. We look forward to our next stay and appreciate the kindness of the staff. They don't have daily housekeeping, but will provide you with extra towels and anything else you need. read more

This is absolutely the cutest hotel I have stayed in. I am so very happy. Friendly front desk clerk. Clean room, excellent wireless internet. Everything was perfect. 1st floor is covered parking and you take the elevator to the lobby. I got a 2 queen bed room. Price was on point. Breakfast left some to be desired. Hotel is not on the main street. Everything does seem to close early at least during the week. I appreciated the cold bottles of water from the front desk clerk that were complimentary. The freshly baked cookies were also wonderful. I am so glad I stayed here and would recommend to anyone! read more

I usually enjoy the Hilton chain hotels. I enjoy Hampton Inns. The check in associate was friendly and helpful. I definitely have no problems with the staff. Our room itself was a little less than what I expected and hoped for In Helen. First, there were sugar ants in our room on side tables next to the bed, not sure where they were coming from. My husband noticed there was mold from possibly a leak in the room in the hallway between the living area and bathroom. I feel like the mold is something that the staff would definitely notice. It was by no means a tiny spot. I guess I should have brought my own pillows as well. They had no firmness and shaping them didn't help. The continental breakfast was decent. It was fresh and had a good amount of choices for everyone. read more

Stayed in many Hampton Inns This is unique as you park ground floor under hotel and take a elevator to the second (1st) Floor. No problem other than an extremely slow elevator.. The afternoon manager was an amazing helpful individual, knew I was a gold member, offered us our water and actually upgraded our room without me asking (mid week very slow season).. She advised us what was open in town and what was closed. She referred us to a couple Restaurants for dinner, which we did choose one and we where completely satisfied with... I want to give a public commendation to Robbie and Ryan at the front desk, who welcome you to the hotel with the warmest and sincerest of greetings and are just fantastic people who go out of their way to do everything they can for you. And most of all, I want to say that Susan Cromwell, the general manager, is FANTASTIC! We had a few issues with our stay, but she called me personally and was the epitome of professionalism and kindness. This hotel will continue to have my business because of her. Work ethic and excellent customer service and just common politeness are harder and harder to come by nowadays. But you'll find all of that with these 3 people. read more

Customer service: Hit or miss really. The front desk person was friendly and helpful. One of the workers was kinda odd and wasn't wearing a mask. Cleanliness: This was the biggest problem. There were a lot of carpet spots throughout the property, including my room. Cobwebs were present in corners in my room, as well as pubic hairs in the shower. Also behind the tv was VERY dirty (see picture). Their housekeeping staff needs serious retraining and supervision. Convenience: The hotel was very close to the shops on the main drag. It was a very short walk to everything. Overall, I was happy with the convenience of the property however the staff needs a lot of training and supervision. We chose this Hampton Inn because it's a "name brand" that was absolutely located within walking distance of everything and NOT on the main drag. Friendly staff and all but the facility seems to showing it's age. There's plenty of parking, with spots under the hotel which is great in the summer time! In our first floor suite, you could hear the laundry room and people above us. Would we stay here again? Not sure since there's another "name brand" that just opened recently at the other end of town and it's a little cheaper....just a little further to walk. read more

Great location to walk to everything! Please have the construction workers that are working on the renovation to pick up after themselves!! There was nails and razor blades in the parking lot where people walked and parked. The construction workers left trash everywhere and didn't keep their work area clean at all!! There was empty drinks containers and bags just laying in the parking lot. Some days several parking spots were blocked off due to the renovation but the prices didn't reflect the renovation. Prices were high!! If I would have known it was going to be this bad I would have stayed somewhere else. I am sure someone got a nail in their tire while staying there. I picked up many nails in the parking lot. We were unaware of the renovation until we drive up to the hotel. Please post on your website. Don't get me started on all the noise. Please fix the fireplace in room 127. It does not work. We paid too much for what was going on. Very disappointed because when we travel for business or pleasure we always stay at a Hilton. Pool was closed and please cut the grass. Workers started work too early and even on a Sunday. I did not feel like I was able to relax with all the noise. Workers right outside our window so we were not able to keep open our drapes to let the light in. Again, please post on your website that the hotel is going through a renovation. Chair had a slice in the fabric. Lampshade hanging crooked and dirty. Paint chipped on furniture. Shower drain looked older than me. Cheap fiberglass shower stall. Balcony floor dirty, too. The worst Hampton Inn or Hilton Hotel we have ever stayed with all our travels. We only stay at Hilton Brand Hotels. This worse the worst smelling and filthiest hotel. The carpet made our socks filthy. The AC unit had not been cleaned for a very long time. When we arrived to the room it had not been vacuumed adequately. There was a chair wheel on the floor and trash on the floor. The odor was terrible from the carpet and AC unit. The breakfast area tables were not being cleaned as people ate and left. We cleaned our own table. The furniture and everything at the hotel is outdated. You can be "old" and clean. It's not clean. As we were leaving the a Shriners Group was arriving who come there every year. One of them asked us if we were with another Shriner group. That person also told us the most likely be coming back to that Hampton anymore after this year because it wasn't kept clean. The ground are kept up beautifully near the river. It's a shame the management and owner can't upgrade and keep this Hilton property clean. We give it 1 star for the outside grounds and groundskeepers. Zero stars for the rest. They need new management. Very disappointing in the cute town of Helen where we have been going for years. read more

Fair priced, good location that's close to everything as well as by the river with a pool and covered parking. I was confused as to why they put so much effort into "sanitizing" (stickers everywhere) yet NO GARBAGE BAGS. Makes no sense. Sink and tub where not very clean... 2 long black hairs, nasty as we don't have black hair.... The fan in the bathroom didn't work, shower curtain should be replaced, bright lights at night through window, the breakfast was not good,, other than that, decent room. read more

I'll start with the good parts. The Hampton is located in downtown Helen, you can walk pretty much anywhere in the town without much trouble. The staff has been very nice. However, this is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The coffee was absolutely horrible, tasted extremely old, and is nearly undrinkable, and instead of a Room was not cleaned once during our stay, the garbage can was overflowing. We received 3 towels/washcloths in a room with 2 double beds. And, my personal least favorite part of the stay, the water pressure (or lack thereof). Water trickled at best out of the showerhead and faucet and made showering miserable and take twice as long. Oh, and the microwave and fridge were broken which I was a nice touch. I really hate to be a Karen and no hate to the staff they were great but nevertheless I stand by everything I said. read more

If you are expecting the amenities of a Hampton Inn this is not the hotel for you. It is more like a Days Inn or Motel 6. The rooms are old, the bathroom is ok but if you are short you will have problems getting in and out of the shower. I'm 5'1 and I could barely do it. My 11y/o needed my help getting in and out. The shower water was weak, it was difficult to get the soap off. The beds are comfortable. The refrigerator had been defrosted before we checked in but they didn't come empty out the pan so it was filled with water that I had to empty. I had to figure out how to turn the fridge back on which I did but I think they should have taken care off that before we checked in. The breakfast is good, lots of variety and cooked food. The pool was small but clean. I wouldn't stay here again. read more

The location of this hotel is amazing! A block away from the strip in Helen and the river runs right behind it. Drew at the front desk helped us every step of the way- from early check in, to storing our luggage, to accommodating us when we slept in (he extended our checkout to 12:30). A sad example of a Hampton Inn. I have stayed at enough Hilton properties to be a Lifetime Diamond on their program, so I have stayed at 100's of Hampton Inns. The room we stayed in was very dirty, showing an obvious lack of even basic cleaning. Right down to hair and caking on parts of the sink, and enough stains on the pillowcases that my wife improvised with tiny travel pillows we carry. I will give kudos to the very pleasant GM who checked us in and out, but given a choice, I would choose another location. We were seriously bummed, and would have left for another hotel if we realized earlier what we had gotten into. read more

We booked our room online and requested a non smoking king room facing the creek out back. When we arrived, all that was available on that side was a smoking king room. This is hard for me because of my allergies but the clerk was apologetic and said he could switch us if we wanted or we could check the room out first. He said that generally the staff do an excellent job of airing the rooms out though, so we decided to check it first. Upon inspection of the room, we could get a faint smell of smoke but it really wasn't too bad. We opted to stay in this room. We opened up the door to the deck and a couple hours later, we couldn't even smell the smoke any more. The room itself was clean and large. It was nice having the view of the woods and creek outback. The location is convenient to downtown, to walk to all the area attractions. Free parking and wifi as well. We would stay here again. read more

If you take your health seriously, do not stay here. Not one employee, from front desk to cleaning staff, wore facial coverings. I found leftover food in my refrigerator from a previous guest's stay. As Hilton Silver I'm used to staying in high quality Hilton establishments, but this property does not take their cleaning or the well-being of their guests seriously. read more

This is an old hotel. When we first got to our room my first thought was I paid way too much for this simple room. Although the room was "made up". The floor still had hair on it and nothing seemed to have been dusted in weeks. We kept or socks on so as to not touch the floor. We had our own pillows and slept on top of our own blankets. The first night my daughter killed a live roach in the bathroom. When I told the front desk about all of these things all they said was "sorry". It was my first time to the town of Helen and after looking around there are a lot better looking places to stay. Even the budget inn looked better than this place. I would say stay away from this hotel. There was no compensation for inconvenience and filthiness. It was so bad we didn't even eat breakfast there. This is your warning. Take care of yourself and go anywhere else but here. read more
