Picked this hotel due to location to Navy Base and traditions of Hampton Inn. The Covid precautions were in full force with room sanitizing, masks, social distancing and to go breakfasts. The staff was friendly and extremely accommodating. The rooms were fresh and clean with comfy beds and pillows. The pool was closed but we managed to pass the time by driving to outlying cities for shopping and food. Had a great stay even under the conditions and felt safe throughout. Much appreciated. Typical new-ish Hampton location that does the chain proud. This one is located very much in the middle of nowhere. Right on 301 and next to the Naval facility along with a small office park of their supply companies such as Northrop Grumman & Lockheed Martin. After that you have a small shopping complex across the street with things like Five Guys, Wal-Mart, IHOP and Subway. If you're looking for the fine dining this area isn't going to help you out just like if you're looking for tons of choices that's not happening either. Lots of open farm land with a lot of sketchy old shack motels and abandoned buildings on 301 for several miles around this little pocket of commercial. No issues with the anything the hotel offered. Clean and comfortable and the room I checked into online the day prior to our arrival was the room I got at check in. The night we were there the hotel was deserted. Breakfast like most Hampton's is 6-10 and when we came down at 6:30 we were the first ones for the day. Typical choices of ham & cheese scrambled eggs with sausage although the oatmeal of which I usually eat was inedible on account of having a concrete like consistency. I would have felt better using it to fill potholes on 301 versus eating it. Hamptons aren't sexy but they're everywhere and usually they fit the bill for providing a clean and comfortable short term stay. This one does all the above. Perfect. read more

Avoid room 301. Shower door broken, and smells of sewage. Sewage smell so bad that I had to change rooms. Had an issues with my billing and where room price jumped and I didn't notice. Totally my fault but where unwilling to work with me to address. Just double check for room rate jumps. Also, I'd say the carpet on the stairs is a straight up safety hazard so be extra careful there too. read more

Stupid place changed me a $50 early checkout fee even though I told them 3 days in advance!!! This is INSANE! After all, this isn't a resort or anything like that. The breakfast was awful, most things were soggy and upmost inedible. Servicing of the room was only EVERY FIFTH DAY! The only pluses we're that the room was clean and quiet. read more

I am writing this review primarily because I don't want to see another person put in my situation. Anyway, 0. I found a live bed bug in the bed behind the mattress (see photos). I complained to the desk person, showed photos, and asked to speak to the manager - who was not on site. I was told the manager's number could not be given out. The desk person steered me to another room. It was filthy and evidenced a dead bug (see photos). I returned to the front desk and asked for a resolution to the problem. I was not given one. When I requested a bag and quarters to superficially mediate the situation at that point, I was given a bag but no quarters for the dryer. I asked the manager to provide me quarters so I could use the dryer. She stated she did not have any to give out. I asked if there was a way I could get quarters. She replied that I could give her a dollar and she could give me change. I said that she said that she did not have quarters, so what was happening. The story gets worse and worse, but there is no way I can provide my litany of complaints in this small box. So, here are the photos, do yourself a favor, don't stay here until they provide you with a good enough reason your should and ideally an inspection of your room. I am a Hilton Honors member and have stayed in their hotels all over the country. They are reliable and predictable. I was surprised to return for our second night stay to find that our room had not been cleaned. Unmade beds, no clean towels, full trash cans, no cup or coffee. When I called the front desk they told me because of Covid, you had to request to have your room cleaned. It took her three trips to supply the basics which she delivered with a heavy dose of attitude. While I appreciated Hiltons efforts during the pandemic, this is simply an excuse to do the minimum. Other Hilton properties have been back to standard cleaning practices for some time. It makes me wonder what other cleaning procedures they have put on hold. After reading other reviews citing bed bugs and dirty sheets, I won't be returning to find out. read more

Horrible. Attempted to check in at around 4:30 PM. Neither I nor the other guests waiting in the breakfast area were able to check in because a list of available rooms had not been provided to the front desk. After traveling about seven hours to get to this place and waiting about an hour to find out whether I would ever be able to check in, I booked a room at a nearby Hampton Inn and happily stayed there. I cannot believe that this hotel mishandles the ability to get rooms ready for its known guests. read more

Several times a month I drive through this area for business and, even though, I only have a few hours left on my drive to get back home, it's the perfect location to stop when I'm too sleepy to continue. After almost a year of saying, "I should, I will, one day," I finally decided to stop here for the night. I'm glad I did and will do so in the future. This is the best and newest hotel in the Dahlgren/La Plata area. I stayed at the Hampton for 62 days while attending school and have zero complaints. The staff and accommodations were beyond expectations and I could not have asked for more. Breakfast is served from 0600-1000 and is a very nice spread of juices, fresh fruit, pastries, and hot items as well. The gym has treadmills, dumbbells, a stationary bike, an elliptical, and cables; all are new and in good working order. There is also a small pool and laundry machines. The rooms have a mix of two queen beds or a king bed with a couch. The WiFi is free, on a daily renewable schedule. The bathrooms are very nice and have plenty of room for moving about; not a closet with a commode, sink, and shower. Schedule a stay at this comfortable establishment and you will not be disappointed. read more

I never thought I'd be fighting for a room at any Hampton Inn, but this was my best and last resort for needing to be in King George county for work. It's a popular hotel because it's a couple minutes from a Naval base. The night I stayed was actually when probably 90% of the hotel consisted of Navy. They seemed to appreciate the free breakfast, as there wasn't an empty seat when I got my yogurt and coffee to go. But back to the night before... because of its location, the rooms are really expensive. Like $180 after tax. This is your standard Hampton Inn, otherwise. Nothing special, nothing bad. There's nowhere good to eat, yet. There's a tiny shopping center across the street that is still being developed. They just got a Starbucks and a Jersey Mike's. Soon there will be a Tropical Smoothie Cafe. There is also a Walmart and some other stores. But I'd advise you to eat before you find yourself in King George county. And when you check out of this Hampton Inn, stop by the front desk, as they have prepared brown lunch bags for you. An apple, a banana nut loaf, a Nutri-Grain bar, and a bottle of water. Here again, in a smaller king room (304)... there's a desk w/chair, a side-chair, and a bench at the foot of the bed. Fridge and microwave as well. Loving the large walk-in shower I have in this room. Smaller tv (32"). Such a comfortable hotel... I love staying here. We stayed at the Hampton inn for two nights. The first night the room we were in was good, but there were 4 lady bugs (with a brown back) crawling all over the ceiling and landed right in front of me on the bed. The woman who was there that evening although kind was very unprofessional. The second night we were in a different room. The shower/tub was not clean, the sheets had dirt on them (like they had fallen on the ground time and time again before being out on the bed), there was a towel filled with hair in between the mattress and head board and that's not all. Somehow the tv changed to a random station at 3 AM and blared classical music! The remote was on the nightstand too! It woke up my 18 month old and she was up the rest of the night, but the young man there overnight was so kind!! read more

I booked this hotel for my wedding guests and I can honestly say that dealing with the Hampton Inn was the most stressful party of my wedding weekend. The front desk staff lacked professionalism, customer service, and were very disorganized. I made a call to the manager and let her know about the issues, but things continued to roll down hill. I began work in Dahlgren a few weeks ago and will return frequently but choose to drive to Fredericksburg or Waldorf to avoid the poor service here. When I checked in (I am only a silver HHonors member) I kindly asked for a first room floor. I was told there were two available, but I would have to move the next night since someone had already requested them and they were coming in the next night. I was staying for two weeks and I asked if they requested a first floor was it 100% guaranteed? She said no, it was just a request. So I asked again if I could have a first floor room since I was beginning my stay that evening and when the guests arrived later in the week, Hampton could inform them that it was just a request and that the rooms were taken. The clerk flatly said "no" and put me on the 2nd floor. The next morning my room was too warm. The temperature read 75 but it was set on 71. When I returned to my room after work that day, the room was again hot and humid - not what you want to walk in to after working all day. I called the front desk and the clerk came up and fidgeted with the thermostat asking if I knew how to work an A/C thermostat. She then asked me if she should call the A/C man. I said "I guess" because it was 75 and uncomfortable. Forty minutes later, the A/C guy shows up. He leaves after fixing the A/C but it only worked for 10 minutes. I had a lot of work to do so I went down to the lobby where it was nice and cool to work. I skipped dinner because I it took a good hour and a half to deal with the inconvenience. I informed them that the A/C was broken and it was 76 degrees in my room now. They came over after twenty minutes and said they had another room for me to sleep in so I walked down the hall to take a shower and it was just messed up. I decided to check out first thing in the morning. When I checked out, the sales manager asked me how my stay was. I told her what happened and she asked if there was anything she could do to make it right. I let her know that things like this happen and I have had similar issues (I stay over 100 nights a year in hotels) at Marriott properties. When issues arise at Marriott, they immediately respond with good replies offering points, or an upgrade, a bottle of water, just something to make you feel less like a sucker. It's not the problem; it's how they handle the problem(s). The sales manager then suggested she could pay for my 2 night stay or award me points. Since I thought the "stay" and the base points might get taken away from my HHonors account, I opted for the points. The points never showed up. Two weeks later, I dropped by (since I am still working in Dahlgren every day). I asked the sales manager about the points and she said "the owner has a file on you and they are working on it". I have never written a hotel review before but want others, and hopefully the management there, to know about the differences you may notice if you choose to stay here. read more

I have stayed here for a month for work and about another more. Great so far. Clean carpets, sheets, well maintained gym and pool, good grab bags for breakfast, and good breakfast beyond the regular continental fare. They have high efficiency washer/dryer for use, though for $4 for the pair. Only downside is the walls can be thin if you have louder than normal neighbors. Just make sure that you clear the bed of your sheets if you want them washed every day if you are here for more than one night. The A/C is cold. read more
