Everyone here from the check in counter, the housekeeping and the breakfast service was polite, friendly and just plain nice. The hotel itself seems quite new. The room was very clean, and the hotel itself was very quiet. Rooms seemed quite soundproof, though it was not full when we were there. Breakfast was good with lots of hot options (eggs, meat, and baked cinnamon rolls) and the pancake maker on demand a highlight. Every time we have strayed from Marriott I have regretted it. Not this time. We would absolutely stay here again.

There's a game room, binoculars, hot chocolate w mini marshmallows, beautiful sitting areas to enjoy the view throughout the property including the front porch where we hung out after dinner. The restaurant right across the street about a stone's throw away at Charles Street served tapas and seafood w live jazz in a Sat night. We also tried Bugeye Grill another night and they were fantastic too. Never really had to get back in the car as you can walk just a few blocks up to the main part of town w a few shops and restaurants. Right next door is an outdoor salty tiki bar that looks fun when it warms up more. I could go on and on. If it would have been a one night stay I could have overlooked most of the issues, but it wasn't, so I didn't. Initial: room reeked of mildew. I combatted this by using housekeeping's odor eliminator spray (I used a lot) and kept the a/c fan on the entire time I was in the room and that seemed to at least keep the smell knocked down. The bathroom was basically a disaster. The toilet was unacceptable: small, cracks and marks on the seat, way low to the ground. Grouting/sealing at the base was discolored and peeling away. Shower head was unacceptable. Non-maneuverable, poor water dispersion, poor water pressure. No stopper/plug in the bathroom sink. Window was unacceptable. Almost like it was stained or something. There were what appeared to be nicotine stains (drips) on the wall across from the bathroom. Carpet had spots/stains. Door was drafty. The smoke detector was literally hanging by wires from the ceiling. Service was hit or miss. I was told upon check-in that my room would only be serviced every 3 days. Which I thought was odd, but whatever. Third day rolls around (Saturday) I had the "do not disturb" sign out (I forgot); housekeeping didn't knock, didn't ask, just slid a note under the door saying (in essence) since I had the do not disturb sign on the door, they "didn't disturb" So it was 5 days until I got fresh towels. It took a day or more extra until my trash was taken out and the bed was made for the first time. I voiced all my complaints (about the condition) to the hotel the day after I checked in when they texted me and asked me about my stay. Hotel said they would follow up with me, that never happened. Contacted Choice Hotels corporate and told them everything (and sent photos) and that seems also be a dead-end. All in all this was a most unpleasant and unacceptable experience. I would not recommend this hotel, I would not recommend the Choice brand (which encompasses a lot of different hotel brands) and I definitely would not repeat.

There's laundry facilities on site and they offer a pool and small exercise room. The room itself is great for me because I need to be able to cook. Full size fridge, stove, and basic dishes and cookware to get you started. They clean rooms every day (unless you want less, like me) and change sheets weekly during your stay. The A/C and climate control works great. The Wi-fi fast on my laptop but doesn't work so well on my phone for whatever reason unless I go outside. I would have given an extra star if the pool/exercise room was open past 5pm and on the weekends. That's kind of a bummer for those who are here for a while and working the hours those amenities are open. Otherwise this place completely fills my needs and more. While check-in went fine, the rest of our experience was extremely disappointing and far below what we expected from a Hilton property, especially during such an important time. The night before the wedding, my guests and I felt genuinely unwelcome in the lobby and lounge areas. Staff repeatedly approached us with unnecessary restrictions, including telling us we couldn't drink White Claws from the can even though the hotel sells the exact same product at the bar, and telling us we couldn't take pictures in the lobby. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere for what should have been a celebratory moment. On the morning of the wedding, things became even worse. While I was getting ready for the ceremony, the front desk repeatedly called my hotel phone demanding that I complete a credit card authorization form for mimosas we had planned for the bridal party. I didn't receive the authorization form until 10:18 AM the same day, which is unacceptable given that this should have been handled well in advance. My card was already on file from check-in, and the staff knew it was my wedding morning, yet the calls continued. This was an unnecessary and stressful disruption. To make matters worse, despite explicitly instructing them to charge the card on my room and completing the authorization form with that same card, the hotel charged a completely different card--my wife's personal card from her separate room the night before. That card was never authorized for these charges, and we were never given an itemized bill explaining the charges. My wife and her bridesmaids also felt uncomfortable and scrutinized by staff. They were told they couldn't have food in the conference room we booked and again told they couldn't take pictures in the lobby. Instead of being met with hospitality and grace on a day meant to be joyful and memorable, they felt restricted and unwelcome. Overall, the lack of hospitality, the inconsistent and unnecessary rules, the disruptions on the morning of the wedding, and the mishandling of our billing made this an extremely negative experience. This was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime weekend for us and our guests, and the hotel added stress instead of support. I hope management takes these issues seriously so future guests, especially wedding parties, don't go through the same treatment. After our stay, we attempted to resolve these concerns through multiple channels, including calling the hotel directly and contacting Hilton Corporate. The only response we received was that an itemized bill would be sent to us and that no further compensation or remediation would be provided with no real apology for our experience. We still have not received the itemized bill we were promised, which only adds to the frustration and lack of professionalism we experienced throughout this process.

The Most Unacceptable Hotel Experience I've Ever Had…read more My stay at Hyatt Place Fredericksburg at Mary Washington was the most unacceptable hotel experience I've ever had. During the night, a pair of women's panties fell out of the bedsheets onto the floor. There is no misunderstanding or excuse for that. It means the bed linens were not properly stripped or changed after the previous guest. I definitively slept in a bed that someone else had already slept in before me. I had been sleeping naked in those sheets under the assumption I was in a clean, properly prepared room. Instead, I was put into used bedding that had clearly not been serviced to even the most basic housekeeping standards. That creates serious sanitation concerns. No guest should ever have to worry about exposure to used sheets, leftover personal items, bodily residue, bacteria, skin contaminants, or any other hygiene risks because a hotel failed to do the bare minimum. What made this even worse was management's response. Rather than Joshua, the manager, taking ownership of the situation, apologizing, and making it right, the hotel chose to cancel my stay and ban me from the property. Instead of correcting a legitimate cleanliness failure, they attempted to silence the guest who reported it. Think about that: a customer reports sleeping in dirty sheets with another guest's underwear still in the bed, and management's solution is to remove the customer rather than address the problem. That tells you everything you need to know about accountability at this property. I expected Hyatt standards. What I received was a deeply unsanitary room and a management team more concerned with avoiding responsibility than doing the right thing. Avoid this location if cleanliness, professionalism, and guest respect matter to you.

Pubic hair on the back of toilet seat. Mold in fridge. Carpet in main hallway has holes, large worn spots, paint dripping all over it. Locks on external doors completely broken for most of them. Door to room doesnt shut, and has to be lifted and pushed hard to get it to close. Outdated appliances. Vending machines are completely broken. Not bad for a quick night or 2 stay, wouldn't recommend for a longer stay.

Lol The room was clean also. That said, I do have a few complaints. First of all, there's no elevator so carrying all your stuff up the stairs is the only way to go. They don't inform you of this either so if you have trouble walking up stairs, make sure you let them know that during your reservation and before you pay for a room. They even have cart dollies for your luggage but you can only use it if you're on the first floor. The set up is pretty ridiculous honestly. Second issue is once you get upstairs, the hallway smells like expired milk or ammonia depending on the time of day. Thankfully, the rooms don't smell like this but the hallway sure did and that was enough. ‍ The hot water also isn't very hot. In fact, I'd say that it was closer to warm then hot. The water in the sink however is an entirely different story. Now that water got hot! And stayed hot! As in burn your hands and steam up the bathroom hot. Same couldn't be said for the shower. So that was kind of an issue. Like it wasn't cold but it was just warm. It just never got hot. So when you take a shower, be sure you close the bathroom door to keep the warmth in. It helps. The only other real issue is the noise level. None of the rooms are sound proof or privacy kept either. You can hear everything from the hallway in your room and everything from your room, in the hallway. It's a little creepy because I don't wanna hear everyone else nor do I want everyone else hearing me. So it was rather privacy invading and that I did not like. My biggest complaint though was the fact that on check out day, the cleaning people literally unlocked our room and busted in at 10:30am. Checkout wasn't till 11am and we had no intentions of even checking out. They then came back at 10:55 and tried the same stunt. We also had people calling and knocking on the door CONSISTENTLY when they already knew there was an issue with our card - which they said was fine and they'd work with us on the issue. But they still knocked and called our room 52 times besides just busting into our room several times from 10:30am onward until it was paid. Completely ridiculous when one, we weren't checked out, two, we weren't planning on checking out, and three, they already knew what was going on! ‍ Over all though, the place is nice and I'd gladly stay here again. The staff isn't pleasant but whatever. We just avoided dealing with them. It's in a nice location and for the price and quality of the room, it was more then worth it!
