I had issues with the shower not working in my room, and the hotel not sending an engineer up for several hours to fix it. This was a frustrating start to my stay. Rooms are very tiny, even for two people. Mediocre experience overall, but relatively inexpensive if using Hyatt points and worth it for a short time due to its convenient location and proximity to DC.

When my sister responded that she could make the show I immediately looked for a hotel in Old Town Alexandria (VA). I've lived in Alexandria for 14 years and believe we're well served by the hotels operating locally. Because she would be arriving from New York on Amtrak, I looked for hotels in Alexandria that are within walking distance of the King Street Metro station. There's an Embassy Suites, a Hampton Inn, a Hilton, and a Hyatt Centric, all within a five-minute walk from the Metro station. Right from the start the experience was a good one. My reservation was quickly recognized, as was my membership in the World of Hyatt, Hyatt's loyalty program. I was able to cover the cost of two nights ($580.92, including taxes, total for the two nights) when I checked my sister into the hotel. The hotel is perfectly located for using the Metro bus and rail lines (a five minute walk to Metro's Yellow and Blue lines and bus lines) - including the bus that will take you across the river to the MGM Grand Hotel in Oxon Hill, Maryland. There's also a free bus and trolley circulator and free DASH buses that all share a bus stop directly across the street from the hotel. The bar is well stocked and staffed by friendly and courteous bar staff. There's a valet service (best to check first about the cost - I think it was $45 per night but I didn't need it so I'm not sure I have the price right). The Hyatt Centric Old Town is probably the newest of the national brand hotels located near the King Street Metro station. It's clean, reasonably priced for the area, and as far as I can tell it's a safe and secure option for visitors to the DMV (District, Maryland, and Virginia).

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, and my room had an amazing view of the Potomac River and the Ferris wheel. It was truly an incredible experience from start to finish. What stood out most was the exceptional staff and customer service. From the moment I checked in, they made me feel celebrated. I was greeted with a warm "Happy Birthday," and throughout my stay, every staff member I encountered was friendly, welcoming, and eager to help. They truly went above and beyond to make my birthday special. I especially want to give a huge shoutout to Michael, who was there every morning at breakfast. He was the perfect person to see first thing in the morning -- friendly, helpful, upbeat, and genuinely kind. He made each breakfast experience even better. Queen and Kendra were also incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful during my stay. I also have to recognize the wonderful woman who checked me in upon arrival. First impressions matter, and she absolutely delivered. She welcomed me with a beautiful smile, wished me a happy birthday, and immediately made me feel comfortable, valued, and excited to be there. Her warmth and professionalism set the tone for the entire stay. I wish I caught her name. Location was close to everything we had planned. Check-in: Quick and pleasant. Cleanliness and staff: The hotel was clean, and all staff were helpful. The cleaning staff in particular were attentive. Room: Amazing king suite with harbor views. Felt like a mini apartment with separate seating from the bedroom. Breakfast: Decent complimentary breakfast; my dining man appreciated the turkey sausages (no pork). Overall: A great stay with just a small parking drawback. I will most definitely stay here again.

Were given great instructions via email on how to get in and out of the house at our leisure. It was clean, quiet, and amazing. It's like old world charm and modern day had a baby. Great mixture of both decor not only at the house hit the surrounding area. GPS will take you to the front of the house at 506 Cameron Street. To access the house and parking, take a right on Pitt Street and then an immediate right on Washington Way. The back of the house has five parking spaces, feel free to park in any of the spaces in our lot. If you plan on parking, please send us your car model and license plate information.   The parking lot covers the 5 spots to the right; directly behind the house. Parking behind the house is on a first-come, first serve basis, and only one car is permitted per room. Jeff drives a large Ford Tremor and was able to get in just fine. If you need additional parking, there is a lot across the street at 517 Cameron Street or there is also street parking.   You are directed to enter through the black gate and then through the purple side door. Accessibility from Cameron Street is from the iron gate and alley in the front. All of our doors have electronic keypads. you are asked to always enter the code to lock the door when you exit the premise, and deadbolt the door behind you after entering.  When you enter the house, to the left of the purple side door is the kitchen that was once owned by George Washington. This kitchen was built in the 1700's, and the rest of the house was built around the kitchen in 1815. They encourage you to take a step back in time and check it out!  To the right of the purple door is the common space. The William Harrison Suite is up the stairs on the 3rd Floor, all rooms are labeled. All fireplaces are non-functioning and are prohibited for use.  All smoking and open flames to include candles and incense are strictly prohibited.

I am only giving four stars because when we booked directly through the Hilton website we were not informed about limited pool hours. When we checked in we were informed that on weekdays the pool was only open 3pm-9pm, and the weekend only had limited hours as well. On the evening of 7/7 our family was swimming and it was sprinkling rain. We didn't think much of it, nor did the lifeguard that was at the outdoor pool. On 7/9 we attempted to swim at approximately 6:30/7:00pm after the rain had cleared and there was blue skies and sunshine. The pool was closed and locked. We were told that the lifeguard had been sent home and that the pool was closed for the night. This really disappointed us and our kids. This morning at check out I spoke with the manager, Charles. Charles was very understanding and was a great representative for the hotel and brand. He stated that laws in the county require that they shall have a lifeguard on duty when there are people swimming in the pool, and they have been trying for two years to obtain a waiver from the county to be able to open the pool without a lifeguard due to difficulty staffing that position. After Charles explained this to me it made more sense, and I better understood why the pool hours were limited. Charles helped me to understand and made situation right. Charles stated that he will attempt to have the limited pool hour information put on the Hilton website as well. I would recommend this location for families visiting the Washington DC area!

I never got anyone's names, but everyone who worked there was so lovely. The entire staff was accommodating, kind, and extremely helpful. I really enjoyed my stay here, and I also loved their complimentary breakfast. I usually never eat hotel breakfast, but this one was actually delicious. Thank you again to the staff. Each and every one of you made our stay pleasant.

You can hear every footstep of the patrons in the room above yours and the movings about of those in the room next door. Tru hotel is ok if you're only looking to crash somewhere for the night. For example, there were quite a few motorcyclists staying over as they went on a multi-day tour. They came to Tru for a Sleep-and -go. Not my style. I like to enjoy a hotel experience. This hotel is designed for very functional efficiency. Tru is the hostel of The Hilton Line.

It's a comfortable, modern hotel with a friendly staff that makes you feel welcome. The rooms and common areas are well kept, and the location is excellent. The room was very nice with a large bed, a large headboard, a business area, a lounge, refrigerator and microwave. It has 2 window treatments: 1 for limiting light and one for blocking the light totally. Each of these work with a chain arrangement. It's just steps away from the main Shirlington shops, including restaurants like Busboys and Poets, cafes, and even grocery stores. The whole area around the hotel seems very walkable. It feels like a nice little neighborhood rather than just another hotel strip. The one drawback is parking. You do have to pay, and the garage is about a block away rather than right under the hotel. It's manageable, though, and, I think, the convenience of the area makes up for it. Overall, this Hilton Garden Inn is a really good choice if you're visiting the DC area. The mix of comfort, service, and the nice neighborhood makes it a place I'd gladly recommend to others and hope to return to in the future.

It has been renovated. It has some satisfactory and less than satisfactory attributes. At first appearance, it seems like a nice hotel hidden within the trees and foliage. The outer appearance and entrance areas of the hotel are clean and inviting. The basement where breakfast is served has large panorama windows and is well lit. Breakfast was very satisfactory for our in-laws. The usual free breakfast IHG provides. These were the satisfactory attributes of the hotel. The unsatisfactory attributes of the hotel: You can see signs of the original VOQ building despite renovations done to make it a hotel. There was a stained crack wall area by the hotel room. One of the elevator doors was out of order. The hotel room was so so yet looked satisfactory. No problems. Overall, we were not highly satisfied with this hotel. We decided that we would book our in laws in the other hotel on base.
