We checked in past midnight for a one night stay while we were passing through. The room and its bathroom were clean but the beds and pillows were not firm enough. At least not firm enough for me. Sorry, no photos of the room, we were so exhausted we jumped into bed. The morning staff was incredibly friendly and it was nice that they had a coffee station set up near the elevator for the people who wanted to just grab and go. They also had brown paper "to go" bags near the exit with pb&j, bagel, apple, and bottle of water where you can grab on your way out. The "included" breakfast was way better than I expected. When someone says continental breakfast, I think muffins, bagels, and maybe some croissants. They had a variety of cereal, oatmeal, bagels, cream cheese, fruits, croissants, mini frittatas, sunnyside up eggs (overcooked), and bacon. The bacon was still crispy! I was a happy camper. 11 hours into our cross country road trip for the holidays we stopped at the Hampton Inn & Suites Elyria to rest. The room was booked via the Hilton Honors app which was super convenient. Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised with the facility. It appears to have been renovated recently and is beautiful. Why the one star review? After the kids were fed and everyone was showered up and finished with some TV time we were winding down and heard music coming from below. It was 11:30 pm when I called the reception and was told the general manager was having a family Christmas party and they would be alerted that I was being interrupted. Taken aback I responded ok assuming the music would be shut down so we could sleep. 10 min later we could still hear the music so I called again only this time the lady who answered took a vert stand off approach in an elevated voice stating that the GM was alerted already. I responded that it was unacceptable that they were aLerted and no action was taken. She then said that they paid for the room. At this point I was in disbelief that such a comment would be made. She was also screaming at me so I got dressed and went downstairs. When I got to the reception I let her know that it was completely unacceptable to be spoken to in that tone and that I too was a paying customer and wanted silence in my room so that my family could sleep. At this point the GM was in the party room with her family so she pointed me to the room and told me to go talk to her. I responded that I would like for her to get the GM for me. She then said she was going to call the cops on me because I was threatening her!!!!! This was the same time that the GM walked out as well as another hotel guest who told both the GM and the reception associate that at no point was anyone threatened. By this time I didn't see any point in continuing g the conversation at night so I took the business cards and will address in the morning. This has to be the absolute worse hotel staff experience I have ever had. They need serious training on customer service Hilton. There is 0 empathy, respect or understanding. Oh and when I was getting in the elevator one of the GM family members told me "See you next Tuesday" which I was immediately schooled on the meaning. Classy! read more

The worst customer service I have ever experienced! The rude front desk lady kicked me, my husband and our 4 year old child out at midnight. We arrived close to 11pm after a full day on the road traveling. We arrive to see she (lady working front desk) is already handling a room change for another couple due to "mold smell". She was already annoyed. When we got to our room we found our air conditioner unresponsive. My husband went down to let her know and she was rude, wouldn't let him finish his sentence and kept trying to throw a paper at him with instructions on how to use the air conditioner. After back in fourth she switched our room. Well guess what? Same issue! It was non responsive. So I decided to take a video to show her since she wasn't letting my husband explain. I went down there, waited and waited then finally peeked my head over to find her just sitting in the office and said "excuse me" she comes over and is immediately rude to me. I had my phone out and was saying "if you look at this video you'll see that your paper instruction answer that you keep throwing at us isn't gonna work" but instead she immediately interrupted me and from then on refused to let me speak. She wouldn't look at the video. She kept saying "it's not her job". After going back and fourth trying to get a word out and her not letting me and me calling her rude we were then kicked out of the hotel at 12 am in the middle of no where for us with our 4 year old daughter. Made this reservation from the road. I had to ask if they had clean rooms because of previous experience in Akron, Ohio Hampton Inn. The gal on the phone promised the room would be clean. That made me happy, but the greeting we got from the front desk kid was like disturbing a teen while he was on his phone. He did not have an attitude, he was just not into it, it was only 3 or 3:30 in the afternoon. Anyway, room was decent, roomy and clean. Shower track needed a good scrub. Bathroom and coffee supplies were filled. Breakfast was without incident and the lady who kept it supplied was very friendly and did a good job keeping it all going. My only comment here is a family with 5 kids came down and not one had a mask on. They were not asked to mask up. So we finished up and left. read more

I stayed the night after driving all day. Walter checked me in and was very patient with me. I was going back home after my mom passed away, and I think he saw that I was flustered. He put me on the 4th floor so that no one was on top of me in a room. I git a text from the front desk asking if my room was okay. It was more than okay. It was wonderful. Everything was super, super clean, and the beds were made really good. I highly recommend staying here. The breakfast was really good and the variety was great. Fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, cereal, coffee, and even waffles. Everything was very clean. Thank you for a great night sleep. Tucked away this hotel is located behind a closed mall and a couple of older closed down hotels. You can tell that they modernized while the other hotels didn't and that may have helped them weather the storm. The rooms are spacious and well padded for sound reduction. It's has a fabulous sitting area that is used for small meetings and breakfast seating. I think they could include a bar area for the night patrons. The service was friendly and helpful. The hotel is located on the edge of an abandoned mall and former days inn. It's surrounded by boarded up buildings and crumbled weed choked expanses of parking lot. You won't like the scenery unless you're a fan of post apocalyptic fiction. The door to my room was ill-fitting in the frame and easily opened without a key. The furniture in the room was scratched, cracked or worn out. The bathroom was clean and recently updated. But the room itself was dusty. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Was itching in bed and all I could smell was dog in my room. I was there for work and worked an event that had me getting up at 3am then back to the room at 9. I had to work another event at 2 so asked for late check out so I could sleep since I had to drive an hour home after the second event. The front desk women (middle aged white women) got crappy with me when I asked for 1pm like that is so unheard of. Then asked the housekeeping sup and said was ok. Who knocks on my door at noon?? Housekeeping. First time I ignored it then they left thinking oh maybe they asked what was going on. Nope. Came back. I looked out the peep hole and they look like they were ready to charge in like they were going to experience something they can post on fb about or something. Dum dums. Thanks for COMMUNICATING!!!! The Good - Excellent check-in experience with an efficient front desk agent with a most pleasant disposition around 10:00pm on June 19th. And the incoming front desk agent seemed to be from a similar mold. The Mediocre - If room 332 had been cleaner, it would have been rave worthy. The bed/pillows were comfortable, the built-in dressers/desk were good, the lamps and built-in lighting were nice, and the bathroom was well-designed with an oversized shower. Unfortunately, my attention to detail doesn't miss much including the stain on the carpet at the edge of the nightstand closest to the entrance (see photo - it was much more visible with the naked eye), the grime and developing mold in the shower (see photos), and the partially torn-off plastic on the top of the refrigerator (see photo). The Bad - Every time you substantially move in the bed, it makes a lot of noise. So much noise that I found myself being overly careful so that I didn't bother my neighbors. Just after I discovered that my bed is masquerading as a noisemaker, the real noise followed in the room above me - just from them walking. The Ugly - Not once, not twice, but three times housekeeping knocked on my door on checkout day of June 20th - all before my guaranteed late checkout of 2:00pm (about 10:30am, about 11:45am, and about 1:15pm). Short of painting a "Guaranteed Late Checkout" sign on my hotel door, I can't do more than verbally relaying that information - which seemed to have been ignored until the last knock. Some relief, finally, right? Not really. Within 15 minutes, the room phone is ringing. "Hello, this is the Front Desk." (Apparently, this person doesn't know to include their first name or their parents had a really sick sense of humor.) "I only have one guest scheduled for late checkout." (Apparently, that guest wasn't me.) "Who did you talk to?" My response is a polite but brief I have a guaranteed 2pm late checkout (and the reason why). To the agent's credit, they immediately accepted my response and politely ended the call; otherwise, this would be a one star review because the rest of the call violated customer service 101. If only I could hand out a ticket for that sort of thing. :P This could easily be a five star review if they cleaned their rooms fully and handled basic customer service issues better. And, oh yeah, do something with those beds! read more

Jessica the general manager is a dishonest person! she will charge your credit card even if you give a 36 hour notifIcation. I contacted the service desk and they told me they are authorized to cancel my reservation but they needed to leave it on their bosses desk and she would get back with me. She did not get back with me. I called again the next morning and she told me I talk to you yesterday. I left a message on my bosses desk but she didn't call you back yet. I said no she did not! Then I called again and Jessica the supervisor talk to me and told me she was not going to give me my refund. $264 was charged my credit card and I did not spend the evening there. Wow! We were a little nervous as we pulled off the Ohio toll-road and into a very sad area. This Inn is located next to a large shuttered mall that had obviously seen much better days. As we walked into the Inn, it was a completely different feeling. The desk person was bright and cheerful and the Inn itself was modern and bright. We ended up with a room that was a traveler's dream! It had a desk, couch, coffee counter and a separate counter for washing up. It was very lovely! read more

Had a 3-night stay arranged to move my son to Oberlin. Had to change flight plans at the last minute because my husband contracted COVID. Arriving Tuesday instead of Monday. Offered to pay for all three nights - no, she won't do that. Won't change the reservation to just two nights since the hotel was booked solid (weird?? Why wouldn't you want to take my room for Monday then and offer it to someone else?). Or take my money and have an empty room...who cares? I am paying! Female customer service staff on the desk Monday, 9/27/21 at 9:30 PM was absolutely HORRIBLE. Would NOT listen to me. Would not listen to my explanation about how I had talked through the options with the 1-800 Hilton Honors program the day prior. YELLED over me on the phone. Told me I would be marked a "NO SHOW" and would lose my room. Would not let me check in electronically and not be there physically. Called 1-800 Hilton Honors again Monday night to seek assistance. That customer service rep called the Elyria desk and the same customer service person HUNG UP ON HIM. She would not listen to him and would not make any changes. What the actual H--L? Made this reservation on the road as we needed a comfortable, clean space to stop overnight after driving all day. We were moving across the country and had a 10 foot uhaul with us, this made selecting hotel options difficult as we wanted to be sure that the truck would be safe. We were thrilled to find the Hampton Inn & Suites in Elyria. It was clean with super friendly staff. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was, the bed was super comfortable and everything was exactly what we were looking for. The other reviews mentioned it was in a "run down" area, which couldn't have been farther from true. There were quite a few restaurants in walking distance, we went to Harry Buffalo, highly recommend their Thai Chili Wings. To top it off, they were a few other uhauls there as well which made us feel great. We will definitely be back on our next cross country trip! read more

The front desk was rude. I felt as if my being there was an inconvenience. No, hi, welcome or any greeting. I'm a Diamond member, meaning spend the most money with the chain. I wasn't offered any water, snack or thanks for being a loyal member. Making me reconsider using the chain. Is happening more frequently. Hair in corner of bathroom. Refrigerator wobbly and damaged on top. Asked if could extend check out a bit. Front desk said no without even checking hotel capacity. The employees were very nice. Everything was clean. I had two big issues. There was barely any water pressure in the shower plus it was barely warm and almost cool. I also came back to my room after being gone over 12 hours to find my door propped open with the safety latch probably since the room was cleaned. I was lucky to be at the end of the hall and it probably wasn't noticed but was very unhappy about it. The manager took a days charge off my bill but that was totally inexcusable to me. The day before I also had someone call directly into my room pretending to be the manager and needing my credit card info. They hung up when I said I'd bring it to the front desk. They somehow didn't go through the desk to get my room so Hilton has to look into their security practices. I will not stay here again. read more

Nice spacious hotel, nice welcoming greetings, and complimentary breakfast. They don't enforce mask policies, or social distancing so my biggest complaint will make a lot of sense. I asked to use the gym around 9:45 pm to do my cardio and was told no because of Covid policies. I understand if you have a lot of guests or actually follow covid "procedures" but that was not happening. The upgraded suite that had no soap or any toiletries. We told them we'd be eloping this weekend and the heat nor AC works. So the whole 5 day experience outside our hotel visit was great. read more

Evening 4/14/23 staff/woman was very rude to several other guests for no reason that my daughter and I could see. It was constant sarcasm with multiple guests who were checking in or sitting in the lobby. Constant power plays. Ex: She told a group of young adults who were playing cards that they were too loud even though they were not. The staff woman, though, had several staff and what looked like friends (definitely not guests!) grouped around the desk and they WERE really loud. We had been sitting in the lobby for about a half hour but left and went to our room. At 6:30am the next morning on 4/15/23, my daughter and I went down to the lobby so she could buy a snack in the area by/behind the front desk. My daughter was wondering out loud to me how much something cost and the same woman from the evening before came around the corner, sarcastically and loudly said (like the evening before with other guests) "The prices are on the wall!". We hadn't even known she was there! My daughter gave her money and the woman slammed the change on the counter, rolled her eyes, and disappeared back around the corner. Needless to say we did not purchase anything more during our stay, did not go to the lobby again (even for breakfast) and will be going to a different hotel in the future to visit our family. read more

This place was built in July 2013 - it's BRAND NEW and easily the nicest Hampton I've stayed in anywhere. It's not even a close call. Everything is very clean, very contemporary. A great option for anyone on the road. Be warned though ... A local I met with for business in the area told me that the hotel is not in a good part of town. From what I understand, you don't want to go out to eat in the area so make your dining plans accordingly and then stay in for the night. read more

We are long time Honors members. We have had only a few bad stays. But this one takes the cake. The staff had a poor attitude. I listened to the front desk tell someone on the phone "I'm here alone, so you're going to have to wait." When we got to our room we had to endure the cleaning staff in the room above us cleaning and walking until 9pm. This also went on in rooms close to us on the same floor. This place has thin walls and floors. The area is run down and nothing close to eat. Homeless where hanging around with their shopping carts. But the worst issue was at breakfast. The orange Juice was empty and I asked if they could fill it. I stood and watched a staff member put the container to his mouth and use his teeth to open the seal and then put the container in the dispensing machine. He did this to the apple juice and the other juice container. Then as we walked out the side door there was a hypodermic needle on the ground by the door. My wife had stayed here many times on trips to Illinois. NOT ANYMORE! Horribly disappointed in Hampton Inn. I'm sure if I had told them I wasn't satisfied it would have been like pulling teeth to get my money back on their 100% guarantee. read more

Really impressed with this facility. I felt as if I was at a Garden Inn instead of a Hampton Inn. Brand new and everything is fresh - nice decor and good use of space. Comfy beds too. The room has lots of places to plug in your technology and there is a mini fridge and microwave as well. Blow dryer and irons are in the room too. I was also happy with their complimentary breakfast - good selection of hot and cold items. There was an attendant making sure that everything was stocked. The only complaint that I have about the breakfast is that they use all disposable dishes, cutlery, and cups; what an environmental nightmare! I say get some real dishes and buy a dishwasher. Wow! This Hampton Inn is awesome!! And we've stayed in quite a few throughout the United States. The whole place (lobby, our room, breakfast area) is beautifully updated and extremely clean. The room is very large and the decor is better than my own master bedroom!! Very comfortable and plenty of room for a family of three or four. We stayed at a Hampton Inn in Manhattan this entire week and are now traveling back to the Midwest via Interstate 80. This Hampton Inn is a TREAT compared to the tiny room and extremely crowded breakfast situation in NYC. However, these hotels never let us down no matter what part of the country we're in! P.S. it is difficult to get to the actual parking lot. Take your first right after you pass the hotel on your right. Then again take the first right onto Mall Drive. You'll see the Hampton Inn sign at the "T"...go right and you'll find it. read more

Decor was as nice as the five star Boca Resort (which I came from). Our room had a king bed, fridge, microwave, plenty of storage space, the room was probably 20x20 feet. Bathroom was good too. Loved our stay! My wife and I stayed here to visit my sister. The location is relatively new, fresh, clean, and modern rooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
