    Broken elevator handle
    Bradley L.

The stay at the Hampton is a little rough. I've stayed here 3 times now. Each a little unique. I personally find the bedrooms sometimes have slight mildew smell. This last visit was the worst of the bunch. Multiple families here for what would seem to be a staycation. Kids and families dragging water into the hallways from the pool. And fairly loud in their rooms. I know this is me being complainy but guests need to respect that other people are around. In general there were multiple broken items in the hotel. Benches at breakfast, handle in the elevator, signs through out, toilet paper holder in my bathroom. There was also no shampoo which was really annoying after I arrived late after a severely delayed flight. The staff did jump to fill it the next day when asked. After which I noticed the conditioner was also empty. Breakfast was normal hotel breakfast and fine. Coffee was always fresh and available. Parking was free and wash to access the building from all sides. Rooms generally clean.

They have a swimming pool which we did use. It wasn't crowded at all and they also have party rooms where they let the guest can use the pool. We've stayed here twice. Victoria and Calvin(Manager) apologized. The associate gave us the room next door. There was no refrigerator, remote control, or hot water. Additionally, the bedding was stained. I called downstairs about the refrigerator and remote. Calvin said maintenance would bring them up. Maintenance brought just the remote, and was rude when he did. He pounded on our door and said nothing, just handed the remote. I called back and was told Calvin had left. The associate said she would move us again. She also said she'd check the room. We came to the desk, got the key. When we opened the door the room wreaked of a smelly dog. It was absolutely awful. We went straight back to the desk. She asked us to take a seat in the lobby. Now she is no longer being nice or polite. She's rolling her eyes, being short and not extending eye contact. She hands me the phone, and doesn't really say much. Calvin is on the line. I explain what happened and mention again we've been traveling for 13 hours, it's late and we're tired. He responds by saying he's been working 16 hours. At that point, I'm so put off and feel very disrespected and invalidated. I respond by saying I've paid for a service and amenities I am not getting, which is most certainly not the same. When I questioned the lack of customer service he says he is solution focused. However, he left the property without solving the problem and we were paying customers who were forced to wait in the lobby at 11pm because the property was not well maintained. Additionally, you can be solution oriented and still extend customer service. We couldn't even change hotels because everything was sold out. Currently, the refrigerator doesn't work, we can't sleep under the covers because of the bedding, there is no hot water and no one has followed up with us. This stay has been a nightmare. I was informed the manager from William Tell Sonesta would be taking care of this issue. Also was told via email that Sonesta was investigating and would follow up. It's been several days since I submitted a complaint and no one has followed up from Sonesta.

The room was very dated with sticky and dirty floors. The bathroom was a real enjoy, the toilet paper holder only had one part. (PIC) The body wash, shampoo and lotion dispensers were all empty. The toilet paper roll was 3/4 gone. They finally has some Hispanics to fix the holder. They didn't bother to clean up the mess they left, that's when we found the numerous long black hairs. (PIC) The only chair was extremely stained. (PIC) We had to get a new roon key numerous times major headache. Supposedly they were renovating the 3rd floor, being on the 2nd floor (217) it WASN'T really nice to listen to banging until after 9 pm. The telephone had no cord. I couldn't just exchange towels with the housekeeper as she didn't speak or understand English but she did bring a whole new set of towels. The breakfast was sad, just cereal byt good coffee.. The outside of the hotel has lots of garbage and cigarette butts and weeds. The parking lot had a large pot hole in it. Some interesting guests made it a bit sketchy. The room had a decent bed. The mini frig and microwave were nice. The staff was OK not exactly welcoming. We learned a valuable lesson to spend more for a better experience. We wouldn't recommend this hotel.

There's plenty of parking and it's clean though housekeeping never touched my room during my three-night stay. The hot breakfast was unremarkable. Some of the furniture in the room was chipped though everything functioned. The bathroom was a different story. The shower required a feat of strength to turn on and attempting to change the spray pattern instead unscrewed the showerhead from the spigot. The Wi-Fi was very slow. Only one elevator was working of two and the clock in it was six days slow. It's cheaper than many surrounding properties and there's a reason for that.

I am diamond status and always get thanked and offered a snack or drink but nothing from her. No biggie maybe off day. I ordered a king room and get there and it is 2 queens. The room is hot as you know where. The AC is off in summer. I get a text asking if I need anything. I politely say I ordered a King room, the room was like a sauna and no welcome as diamond. She says sorry the thermostat is on the wall. I again politely let her know I found it but I ordered a king room. She said are sold out. Again I said but I paid for a king. She then in all caps (cut and paste from her text) : " I am SORRY THAT YOU ARE IN A DOUBLE WE ARE CURRENLT SOLD OUT.". I'd avoid this place like the plague.

We finally make it to the hotel and the lobby looks clean and orderly so we are happy (that doesn't last). We go up to the desk person and she can't find our reservation, no worries right they have other rooms. When she gives us the paper work to sign the total is $115 with a "discount". That's $30 more than we were initially quoted but I am so tired and cranky I let it slide. We go up old ratty dirty elevator and get off on the 3rd floor. As soon as the elevator opens the combination smell of dirty old man, cigarettes, and massive BO wafts towards our direction. We get into our room and you can tell the cleaning crew did the bare minimum to keep this place "clean". I've stayed at better hole in the wall hotels in Mexico! The coffee pot, which I had no intention of using was full of coffee stains. And the disposable cups were all crush that two of them had holes in the bottom. Against better judgement we get up for their continental breakfast. I can't complain about the breakfast it is usual breakfast fare ie. toast, cereal, etc. But that room was hot an MUGGY! It felt gross. They had no plates and the milk was not in a cool container so needless to say I stayed away from that mess. The reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because the desk people were nice and they ended up giving us the original price of $84. Next time I will prefer to stay in my home oven than this place.

We booked one of the jacuzzi rooms, and I've stayed in much nicer ones elsewhere. The jacuzzi had visible mold and clearly had not been cleaned properly. I actually cleaned it myself before we used it. The caulking around the tub was deteriorated and needs to be stripped and replaced, and the foundation supporting the jacuzzi did not feel secure at all. The bed was another major issue. For a room of this type, a king-size bed would have been much more appropriate than the small bed provided. My boyfriend and I are not large people, but the bed felt cramped. Worse, it was broken. After a six-hour drive from Minnesota, all we wanted was to get some sleep, but instead we had to rotate the bed and place towels under the box spring just to make it usable. Sitting on it felt like being on the cracked Titanic. The room was very minimal for the price charged and definitely not worth what we paid. There was also mold around the window and in the regular shower, which is unacceptable. I do want to mention that the staff were very friendly, accommodating, and seemed to do their best with what they had to work with. My frustration is not with them. However, this property desperately needs a deep cleaning and major maintenance. I watched the housekeeping staff cleaning rooms, but it appeared to be basic surface cleaning only. When we moved the bed to fix it, we found mold underneath as well. I would strongly recommend that management temporarily close the hotel, bring in professional cleaners and maintenance crews, and address the mold, broken furniture, damaged caulking, and overall condition of the property before charging guests premium rates for these rooms.
