No wonder this country is headed straight down the gutter- Hampton Beach will leave you convinced real quick that people need to be jailed for breeding & where there is an audience which keeps Viacom profitable and MTV reality shows, as well as pro wrestling garnering Nielsen shares.
Families can bring their kids minutes up the road to North Beach, Wallis, Rye....why would they bother subjecting their kids to the cess-pool of phoney bloods & crips who think blaring hip-hop & rap out their car windows & needleslly driving up oil prices will convince you that they are more evolved primates than the Lawrence bums or Cowshire hillbillies that they are? Want to listen to a redneck attempt to sound "ghetto" as he convinces the punk who looked at him too long that he is badder than Steven Segal & knows the streets of Compton inside & out just by sitting in his Seabrook trailer? Very fascinating. I actually can comprehend French better- and I know exactly two words in French.
By all means, soak in that entertainment aspect and then get your kids out if you legitimately are in the business of being a parent. Oh, and your dental & medical premiums will stay lower as a result. Boardwalk cuisine you couldn't find any where else between Salisbury & Old Orchard- everything a growing child needs to fight off the obesity epidemic- oil-soaked pizza, fried dough, cotton candy, Mickey D's. Oh the temptations!
When the sun goes down, maybe Peaches & Cream in the 2" skirts hanging on the boardwalk would be willing to give the little squirts some career advice as well, hey?
So why the 2 stars and not one? The beach itself isn't bad, there is beach volleyball, and a sand castle competition worth checking out (just avoid the tourist-trap event known as the Seafood Festival which serves Hannafords finest imitation crab meat & charges you the right to PAY for seafood & flea market crap acquired via somebody's Chapter 11 filing). Some how if you can swim ashore or parasail from North Beach, avoiding the boardwalk, it would be perhaps be worth the while... Also unlike the nearly-as-bad Misquamicut Beach to the south, the seaweed is not nearly as ubiquitous, the beach is big enough not to have to feel like a sardine even on the hottest summer days, and there is less of an Orwellian presence as you actually allowed to hurl frisbees, fly kites, etc... . Then again I suppose, not allowing people to breed would be oh-so Orwellian, now wouldn't it? read more
