Hammermade is a very nice men's store. Aesthetically pleasing with good service. I felt a little awkward coming in because I was literally the only person there at that time but the staff made me feel at ease. Apparently this brand was the vision and eventual production behind one man, Jason Hammerberg, who at an early age, showed great interest and passion for clothes. He pursued a degree in retail/clothing design and took off on his own after gaining experience in various retail markets. One thing he stands behind is the high quality of his shirts without high pricing. Here's where I'm not so sure I agree. I'll have to see how the shirt holds up but as far as pricing, I guess I'm used to Banana Republic. This line is more along the upscale Pink by Thomas Pink but not quite as expensive. These shirts are visually appealing. I like that they aren't so in-the-box so to speak, and that there is great attention to detail. And much like my beloved Lululemon, a shirt may be there today and gone forever tomorrow, which makes them more unique. I like where they stick their logo on the side of their shirt so if you wear it out, you can see it. It's actually a pretty cool symbol. And if you roll up the cuff, there's detail inside the cuff that will show off nicely. I'd say if you are a very traditional man, their merchandise isn't for you. And I love their bags. I know...their what?! But I love a good shopping bag, and they have really cool bags. I'll have to see how the shirt stands through some washes before I'd buy more, but I like it. One of my favorite stores. If you are looking for limited made quality shirt (not made in China!), this is the store. They have a wide variety of colors, styles and patterns. I always find myself stopping in when I am at Avalon to just see what they have in stock. I have close to 10 now and not a single one has any signs of fraying, wearing out, fading etc. Fit and finish are great, and I always get compliments on either the style, color, design, cuffs etc. Tineal (the Assistant Manager) is always supremely focused on customer service, and despite being a small store, always provides a great experience. read more

HAMMER TIME! While visiting Avalon today, I noticed this store. As I peered through the front window, I saw colorful clothing and could not tell if this was a store for women and men. As I entered, I noticed that this was a very intimate space that carried Italian shirts and accessories for men. There is a huge mural on the rear wall and it depicts the Italian town from where the material for the shirts are sourced. I love a men's store that is not afraid of color and this is that store. They featured shirts in a variety of colors and I particularly enjoyed the section of shirts that had contrasting colors and patterns on the turned cuffs. I love a nice substantial sweater and they had a great selection of sweaters in cashmere and cotton. Very nice. As I stated they also had accessories such as socks and ties but the best accessories were their collection of convertible belts in vibrant colors such as red, orange and purple. My husband is super conservative so he would never wear such a belt but I thought they were great and if I was a guy, I would so wear that orange belt and order one in yellow as well. But, I tend to take more risks than the old man. Although they had more conservative options available, I wasn't interested because I need visual interest and color. Since I tend to purchase the clothing for the men in my family, I tend to purchase what I like, (within reason). However, I understand that there are men out there who like quality but appreciate the more conservative options so that's okay. I say be bold and be brave and go for that pop of color. You can keep your foundation conservative but you can add a simple pop of color with your tie, belt or socks. ***Keep it interesting and she might actually call you back! Wink, Wink! read more

Although I've only been in the Alpharetta, GA store a couple of times, both were exceptional visits, but that's what I expect, right? However my recent experience with the Hammer Made Customer Service has prompted my review, and I NEVER post Yelp reviews.... good, bad, or indifferent. On Sunday morning, I ordered a pair of men's pants online. Within 2 hours, (on a Sunday mind you) I had an email from Hammer Made that my order had been filled, as well as an email from UPS with my tracking information. I was amazed at the quickness and I wasn't even in a rush, as these pants were intended as a Christmas gift. Back story, I am a horrible gift giver but decided this year that I wasn't just passing out gift cards (should have). That was my first mistake. Hammer Made is a go to clothier for my recipient, so I went out on a limb and ordered a pair of pants. Can't go wrong, right? So for the second mistake.... taking the time to actually review my order on Monday, I was MORTIFIED. The order (by me) has already been filled and UPS has been scheduled for pick up. AND I'VE ORDERED THE WRONG COLOR!!! In a panic, I emailed the customer service address to confess how I'd messed up and asked if it please, please, please be corrected. I take full responsibility for the mistake and was prepared to accept the fact that I was going to receive a pair of pants that my recipient was NEVER going to wear. Dayna is my angel. She straight up said, she made no promises, it was dependent on the shipping store as to when it was packaged and left the particular store. I know she pulled some strings...... (if not Dayna, take credit for it) I have written customer service modules, and guidelines, scripts, and actual manuals for (corporations) all of which were high end furniture, but my personal experience with Hammer Made is that sometimes, you need to actually provide customer service that isn't expected. I made a mistake. And someone corrected it for me and I am forever grateful. I'm not in the income range that can just waltz into a Hammer Head store and pickup a shirt like they just grabbed something from Target. But I was treated no differently than a person making 6 figures per year. Love Dayna and love Hammer Head! read more

Do Not Buy From Hammer Made Shirts I have bought about 10 of these shirts -I liked the style, design and fit even though they are expensive ( you get what you pay for - right?) However, one of the first shirts I bought , once i wore it, looked as if I had slept in it after only a couple of hours. I brought it back and it turns out I had bought it on sale, so they would not refund my money, but they did give me a store credit which was acceptable to me. Fast Forward 8 months - I have all my Hammer Made shirts dry cleaned, not laundered, because dry cleaning is less wear on the shirts and will not cause fading over the years. Last week I got one back where it was clear that the weave of the fabric was separating in two, creating approximately 2 one inch square spots, right next to each other on the front left of the shirt. At this point, I had worn this shirt maybe 7 times. To my wife and I this looked like a defect in the manufacturing of the fabric; so I brought the shirt back to Hammer Made. No manager was there so I had to drive back the following day. As soon as we went in and inquired about a credit, the manager, rather vehemently, said he was not giving us any credit as this damage was done by the dry cleaners. He said he could feel starch in it ( I never use starch and, surprise, shirts that are dry cleaned by my cleaner never have starch). He said the dry cleaners had "stretched" the shirt too much while handling it when pressing and that caused the damage. I told him that was not logical and had never had any issue with our laundry ever. He repeated his claim that the laundry did the damage. My wife told him with this terrible service and ridiculous position on his part - he would be losing a customer for life. His basic reaction was well if I lose you - I lose you. Guess he completely failed Customer Service 101 ? Here is the real rub -- I have worn a dry cleaned, or professionally laundered shirt, every day for decades. I have used the same laundry for 18 years and I have, literally, had 1000's of shirts cleaned by them. In the course of 18 years I have never had them damage any shirt of mine - not once. Logic says that shirts should be made to withstand the many laundering, or dry cleaning, cycles, they will go through. This shirt has been dry cleaned maybe 7 times. You tell me - is it a defect in the manufacturing of the fabric, or the professional laundry that does this every day for 10's of thousands of shirts a year with no complaints? Caveat Emptor - I really dislike companies that do not back their product and worse, have employees that behave as egregiously as this guy did. These shirts are pretty expensive - they should be able to go through hundred of cleaning cycles - not 7 . I will never buy one of these shirts again, and I am hoping this review will guide you away from ever buying one of their shorts. Perfect Combination - poor quality product not backed up and guaranteed coupled with a serving of unfriendly, nasty customer service. read more
