Come for the play space, leave with a boatload of new toys! Which in this case was a good thing, since we visited near the holidays and have a bunch of nieces and nephews. While I think this spot is only listed as a toy store on Yelp--and what an amazing, well-thought-out, beautiful layout of toys and other offerings they have--the small play space to me is just as lovely. The sky and rainbow theme is a dream, and the toys are thoughtful and of good quality. We had at first tried to go to a different indoor playground in town, but when it turned out to be unexpectedly closed for the week, it was serendipity that we found ourselves here instead. My two small kiddos played for around an hour, and the adults left with a wooden thumb piano, a DIY synthesizer, and a set of magnetic darts, among other things. Which are gifts and which I'm planning to keep, I'll never tell. Can't wait to come back. read more

Goto any kids daycare and they are talking about paw patrol, Daniel tiger, peppa, trains, cars etc etc and this place has stuff you grandparents would. What a cute neighborhood shop! We popped in when we were in the area for brunch and the grand opening of another shop on the street. Hammer & Jack's is adorable!!! I was worried that it was a "bougie" boutique with snobby owners and prices because it looks so clean and organized and like kids should touch absolutely nothing. We stopped in for a quick look (just my son and I,) and ended up going back with my husband and daughter as well because my son wanted to really look around. When we got back, there were several kids and toddlers in the store touching and playing with a lot of items and the store owners didn't just allow it, they encouraged it. They were completely opposite of what I had imagined. Such kind and friendly people who owned the shop and they took time to show us how some fidget toys worked and talked to each customer. You don't get THAT kind of customer service online from a big box stores right?! Not to mention they have such a cute curation of items in the store. If I had little kids I would go broke shopping here! I can't recommend this store enough, shop locally and definitely patronize this store. The people AND products are great! read more

I come here often with the kids I babysit, 3 and 5 years old. They love it! The playroom keeps them entertained for hours and gets out some of their wild energy. Went to the 5-year-old's birthday party here and it was a blast. They have great events, the hosts keep the kids engaged the whole time. Their products are high-quality, and they have a lot of books and toys I haven't seen anywhere else. Lots of great art supplies. I hosted my three year-old son's birthday party on a Friday evening at H+J and I have to say that it was most serendipitous thing to happen in our family history of birthday party planning. I unexpectedly lost my reservation at another venue, and since we live just around the corner, I decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad we did! The party room is fantastic! I love how simple the structure is, and how it lends to imaginative and collaborative play. The space is really well thought-out and meets all the needs of families with young kiddos. And as everyone's said, Jillian is a joy. She's super accommodating and helpful, and just the right energy you want when you're in the party-producing flurry. My helpful hints to any folks looking to host a party: -Order the 15 balloon add-on. They are set on the tables and brighten up the space, then can be given away as favors at the end of the party! -They let you bring in wine and beer with some very easy-to-follow restrictions! This was a huge bonus for our Friday evening party. -Don't pooh-pooh the idea of the evening party for kids. Our invited families had a total blast kicking back over beer and pizza on a Friday night, and it was great to be able to provide the gift of not having to think through Friday dinner to our friends and family. read more

The owner was patient with my questions, friendly and excited to help make our daughters birthday perfect! One of my balloons was a"Happy Birthday " individual letters- long - stringed balloon. She literally took the time to blow each letter up ..one by one herself - that was beyond nice. She knew the theme was rainbow she put up a rainbow tulle curtain for us. That wasn't easy either. Like a mullet- this store is business upfront, party in the back. Truly, the first half of the store is a whimsical wonderful toy store filled with some of the best and most carefully procured toys. My son was in heaven running from one treasure to the next. They also have a nice though limited selection of adorable infant clothing. In the back, there is a large playroom with a castle (complete with small slide) and a full inventory of toys that are also available for purchase. You have to pay to access the kids play area, but it's worth it and an excellent rainy day escape (be warned the room isn't too large and it will fill to capacity quickly). This toy store is amazing. We went for their toddler Halloween party in 209 and my son loved it. For his 3rd birthday during shelter-in-place, I ordered balloons and gifts online and they delivered them for free on his birthday, all the way to Fairview! And even though they made a small mistake (giving me one train instead of another), I gave them a call and they went all the way back to the store to get the correct train, wrapped it up, and quickly drove all the way back to exchange it. I can't get over how amazing this place is. Independent, mama-owned toy store with high quality items. They even have very cute locally, made party supplies! I think it's locally made. Either way, Jillian, the owner makes sure to have locally made items in her store. My daughter celebrated her fifth birthday here in their back playroom and everyone had a blast. It's a nice, clean play area with quality, intact toys and the play castle where kids can climb on one end and walk across the top of the castle to slide down the other is a hit! We are so lucky to have a place like this in our neighborhood. The kids toys and clothing are lovely and top quality. We also love the community space in the back. I brought my son in the other day during a downpour. We were both feeling stir crazy and needed something new. I had heard about this spot from a parent at the park. It was SO MUCH FUN. Yes I bought a puzzle and the store has a great selection of toys/puzzles/stuffed animals and so on but the main attraction for us was the huge play area in the back.
