I now have an estimate of $500 to replace oil pan (because trans mounts need to be removed to access). This is 100% the fault of midas, kalkaska and was either due to sheer incompetence, or it was intentional.

As somebody took it into the service bay somebody else was trying to come up with backup options in case it wasn't fixable at that time since we were away from home.
