We had a very disappointing experience with this company…read more We paid a $10,000 deposit to start building a garage. After receiving our deposit, the company significantly increased the price of the project to an amount we could no longer afford. We tried to discuss the situation in person at their office, hoping to find a solution, but instead we were treated disrespectfully. The owner raised his voice, yelled at us, and made the situation even more stressful. The document we signed was not a formal construction contract, yet we were left without our deposit and without the project moving forward. We filed a complaint with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC), but unfortunately we did not receive the help we expected. We also hired attorneys, which has only resulted in additional expenses while trying to resolve this matter. Our experience has been frustrating, financially draining, and extremely disappointing. I encourage anyone considering this company to carefully review all paperwork, make sure you have a detailed written contract, and fully understand the terms before paying a large deposit.

After reading the other…read moreposted reviews, I wondered if they used the same Dwaine that I used as I found Dwaine to be professional, courteous and timely. He even called to update me when it began to rain and I knew the job could not be done on that particular day. Also, huge for me was when I went by the property, I had to ask if the job was done because they left the property clean as a whistle. Thank you for a job well done and because I had multiple estimates, I certainly felt the price was fair. I would recommend Dwaine / Breyer's Roofing to anyone who needs roofing service. First of all, I'm not even sure if they are still in business, as their phone in non-working…read more I contracted with this company to do a complete roof replacement, including replacement of a skylight over the kitchen. The contract specifically states that the skylight would be replaced, along with the shingles, flashing, etc. Eventually a crew of Hispanic workers showed up and started replacing the shingles. There was nobody from Breyers supervising them, and nobody who spoke English well throughout their entire work here on the job. Overall, they seemed to have done a good job, though. Then we had some rain, and the area around the skylight leaked and stained the new paint that we had done in the kitchen. I called Breyers about the leak, and it turned out that nobody had installed a new skylight. It took weeks for it to get done, but eventually, and after a few calls, the new skylight was installed. The guy told me that "you basically got a free skylight", but it was in the contract that we both signed, and I paid 100% of the price given on both the the estimate and the contract. That comment was a bit off-putting, because he seemed to be saying that I didn't deserve to have the paint damage from the leaking (new) roof repaired. But he promised to send out a painter ... and promised ... and promised again when I called. "Didn't the painter get in touch with you?" No. Nothing. Another promise unfulfilled. So now I have a newly-painted kitchen with stains in the paint because they didn't supervise their crew, didn't do the job correctly the first time, didn't check that their crew did what the contract called for, and didn't follow through with their promises to fix the damaged paint.

Hired them based on YELP reviews as I had been so successful utilizing reviews for many other…read moreservices. So I need to be fair and honest with this so others don't get left with a job half done like I did. The quality of work and care was not there. The first day 3 guys showed and one room was presented as done (the primary). By the end of the week on a job that was quoted as around 3 days, not one entire room was completed, but instead two others started and left. Plastic was laid down on the floors and over our belongings that had been cleared to the center of the rooms. The job was to paint the upstairs hallway and 3 bedrooms with Farrow and Ball paints (which I supplied along with rollers and new buckets). Prior to them showing up, Cullin had called The Paint Shop in Warrenton inquiring about Farrow and Ball paint as they had not used it before. He told me how much to purchase. I bought $2500 worth of paint & primer. The first day he showed up he asked for half payment and a signed contract, which was not discussed prior to his arrival, and this was while the other to guys were prepping the upstairs for the job. There was a lack of communication about this job start to finish or unfinish. It turned out that the very next week Cullin and the two other guys showed up and worked at break neck speed to get out of this project. Upon inspection while everything was still very wet and them "cleaning" I found many items they needed to redo. For the back room they had very little natural light and no proper equipment to effectively see to do a good job in this room. It was admitted by Cullin later that this paint was quite different than Sherwin Williams paint, and now know they should have never accepted this job. I am also concerned with the reviews because Cullin has no idea how to calculate paint and how much for a job! I am left with nearly all the paint! The Paint Shop said it was not their place to tell a "professional" painter how much paint to use for a job. Cullen and his crew did not in fact put two coats down in each room, because if they had, more than a half gallon would be gone and they would have needed the three of them to show up that Tuesday instead of prematurely pulling out of the job on Monday. During this job there was staffing issues where only one guy would show in the late morning leaving at 3 or 4. Additionally these paint cans were brutalized as ladders and so I cannot even resale them. My paint key I provided for all these cans also walked. The closet doors were not completed as the hardware never arrived until after they left the job on Monday. Once we started to put the rooms back, we noticed several areas not even painted and certainly evident that no two coats were used since you can still see the cut-ins. There are a slew of minor other untouched imperfections that real professional painters would not have left. So this is the honest review that should have been posted long before mine. This was not a great value for the $4600 paid not including my $2500 in paint. Also, a proper second coat cannot be obtained that quickly on Monday (read Farrow and Balls directions). You know what they were good at? Caulking and talking on their cellphones.

After looking at the project, they left and said they'd email me the estimate. I've reached out no less than four times for my estimate, and even told them that if they weren't interested in my project to just let me know so I could reach out to other contractors. I was told that my estimate was prepared and would be sent later that day. I have yet to receive the estimate, but will not ask again, and I won't ever reach out to this contractor again. The rating is 2 stars because they initially showed up for the estimate, but I guess they don't need the work. Thank you finally for an answer. Yes, you did provide an estimate on stair railings and I did go a different way because you could not provide the style railings I wanted. But it was totally unprofessional to go through the motions of providing an estimate with no intention of doing so, and then not telling me that in the beginning, especially after I asked about your interest in the project. I've read your reviews and customers seem happy with your work, so it's a shame it didn't work out this time.
