Some things you just can't avoid in life. Like those things we are born with. I was born with a venous malformation (VM) on the inside of one of my knees. Nothing serious just a ugly purple blob. Recently it has really been bothering me as I get these superficial blood clots that are painful. And I've noticed some strange spider looking veins branching out around it. Also my lower legs have been feeling unusually tired (full). Wasn't sure if that was related to all the hiking I've been doing this year or what. Well, I've met all my deductibles this year so I decided that it was time to kiss this purple sucka good-bye. No pennies out of my pocket. Let's do this!! Ha! Seems like I got more problems than that. Yeah, my superficial veins in my legs have defective valves. Glad I caught this now as it could have eventually led to some serious problems later on down the road. The treatment for this sounds scary as all get out, but, is quite simple. It's called Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA). In a nutshell they insert a catheter into your lower leg and advance it to the groin. Next they work down the leg burning the vein at 250 degrees Fahrenheit! WHAAAAAT!!!? Don't worry folks they use lots of numbing medication and this really cold spray that is guaranteed to give the guys a shrinkage problem. The only discomfort I experienced from this was from the needle sticks for the numbing. For me it took five consecutive visits each lasting an hour or so. Two days per leg and a day for injecting that purple blob. You couldn't ask for a more professional and pleasant staff. Man, these guys are top notch. From the first time you walk through their door they make you feel like they've known you for years! Seriously! Everyone is awesome here. EVERYONE!! You got a vein problem? Go see these guys. Recently I was referred to Hamilton Vein Clinic by my dermatologist regarding concerns with chronic leg discomfort, excruciating leg cramps along with bouts of relentless leg skin itching. I called Hamilton Vein Clinic and a kind-voiced Abby facilitated my initial appointment! Before the appointment day I downloaded new patient forms from the Hamilton Vein Clinic website. The website is richly informative and easy to maneuver! The Hamilton Vein Clinic Round Rock office is easy to access with lots of available parking. The office has an inviting welcoming ambiance with low-key calming decor and nice amenities, i.e., current magazines and newspapers, bowls of peppermints, a Keurig beverage machine for coffee, tea and other hot beverages, bottles of water and artfully arranged uncrowded seating! The office team is superb! ANYA is the warm smiling personable front arena concierge! Medical Assistant NOHALANI took me to an examination room to review and gather additional information, take vitals and then introduced Physician Assistant AMANDA, who continued with the information gathering and examination process. Next Sonographer BRIANNA carefully "sonogram'ed" both legs. Before, during and after STEPHANIE is the catalyst ensuring everything needing to be communicated for appointments and messages, and all else is executed in excellent clear communications! YOU ARE AWESOME! After reviewing the sonograms it was determined I would benefit from the Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) since there were three veins involved and the nature of the procedure would take three quick succession appointments and then a follow-up sonogram! During the discussion of the procedures, I asked if we could proceed as soon as possible! Fortunately their schedule allowed us to proceed immediately with the first of three RFA procedures! Medical technicians Marisela and Maritza provided exquisite careful prepping of the "operating room" and my leg and narrated each step of the process! It was impressive! I am grateful they and Hamilton Vein Center is obsessed with sterile everything in this office! After getting me prepped they asked what music I wanted to listen to throughout the procedure and brought up my requested playlist on the laptop next to the procedure table! That was a first for me and what a great idea! After all the prep was completed Dr. Justin Smith arrived to do the procedure! Whereas it is not essential to this review I will include that Dr. Smith is a movie-star handsome fella! What is essential to know: Dr. Smith has performed these and the other vein procedures every day for years! Dr. Smith possesses a personable, kind demeanor, and like Marisela and Maritza, narrated each step and aspect of what he was going to do next, and as he was performing that portion of the procedure! In addition to the professionalism exhibited and the warm manners towards me and the other patients I observed coming and going is the great camaraderie and kindness exhibited between all members of this exceptional team as they interacted with one another! It is obvious this medical practice has given careful thought and planning in creating and providing a sterile environment and practices as well as ensuring all the details are in place for a memorable patient experience! I cannot sing the praises of this office enough. First of all- PSA to anyone even considering visiting- numbness, pain, tingling and swelling in your legs and feet isn't normal! So don't make excuses like I did and come visit this office so they can help! Second of all, I have this (somewhat bad, somewhat accurate joke) that you never get both good staff AND good doctors at any office. It always seems you have to settle somehow. But Dr. Parker is kind, patiently answered all of my questions with his thorough knowledge and empathetic heart. The entire office is is so kind and friendly (Hi, Andrea!) it honestly was kind of strange the first time I visited how nice and happy everyone was! You just don't get this kind of experience anymore. I never waited more than a few minutes and even though the procedure to fix your veins is a little uncomfortable by nature, they walk you through it every step and make sure you get plenty of numbing medication! I'm sorry for how lengthy this review is, but I also work in healthcare and am really blown away my the great experience I've had. The physician and nurses were very nice but dealing with the front office and billing were a pain. The cost out-of-pocket was NOT what they quoted, it was much more. I thought it would be a one-time procedure for my one leg, but it took two more visits, more money, and it still is purple. Scheduling the procedures in a timely manner was very difficult and it took 4 requests to billing to send me procedure codes for my FSA insurance. They, evidentially, have only one person working in billing for all their locations. Getting a hold of her was impossible! I'd look elsewhere for your care to avoid the headaches. read more

The people who work there are the best, but the follow up help was not. Had some problems that cropped up ( sore leg, redness, swelling) and wanted a consultation, but no time to deal with it. I visited Dr. Smith and crew over a period of about 6 months in 2020/2021. My visits included initial diagnosis, ultrasounds, ablations and scleropathy. Nothing extremely remarkable ever happened during my visits, but isn't that exactly what you want? To go in, be diagnosed, treated and leave - all while being under the care of nice, caring, funny, normal people? That's what you get at Hamilton Vascular (Round Rock). Every single person was extremely polite every single visit, whether in the waiting room, the exam room, in surgery and even in the bathroom. (They have 2 attendants handing out mints. Just kidding. They don't.) I wish I could remember everyone's name because everyone I spoke to was fantastic. The select few I recall are Stephanie, Rachel, Gabby and Dr. Smith, but every single person I spoke to was kind and had a smile (I think...couldn't really tell because of the masks. But I like to think so.) I hope you never have to deal with blood clots of varicose veins, but if you do, go see the team at Hamilton Vascular. You'll be in great hands. read more

The physicians and PA were nice, but scheduling was difficult since they're only at this location three days per week. The reason for my low review is twofold, the first being that my original complaint/concern was never resolved and my leg actually looks and feels worse 2 months after the ablation and sclerotherapy injections. Secondly, they want to be paid at the time of service but over quoted me every time-- make sure you wait for your EOB from insurance as mine was always 50% less than what they told me I owed when I was in the clinic. When you go in for a varicose vein and they tell you they can "fix" it, you want to be hopeful. But after 4 visits, mine hadn't only worsened, but I also wasted $400. Wouldn't recommend. read more

I went to Hamilton vein about 10 times and spent about 5 thousand dollars. There is no difference to my leg and the treatment received was extremely painful. I was told it would take 3 treatments and be minimally invasive. In reality it was more like 10 times with no effect and more comparative to a medieval torture chamber. What a scam! Didn't live up to the reputation for me. One nurse was chewing gum and popping bubbles in my ear while she took my blood pressure. It felt more like a sales pitch for their services than an examination to see whether or not I needed the services. I had to specify what color compression stockings I preferred before I was even examined, like it was a given that I would need them. When I checked out the front desk gave me one total, which I paid and then decided it would be $50+ dollars more than that because they had charged me incorrectly, so I had to pay again. When I asked for a detailed receipt for my FSA reimbursement I was told I would have to wait until next week to get one. Just not very professional. read more
