When I found their website, I was immediately attracted to the decor. I LOVE antiques! We booked our stay for the Tiffany Rose suite. Shortly after we booked our stay, we received an email from Barry. He asked if we were staying for anything inparticular (wedding, anniversary, etc.). He also asked if we had any dietary restrictions because he prepares breakfast every morning of your stay. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by both Barry and Denise. They gave us a tour of the Victorian and then showed us to our room. I was in awe from the moment we pulled in the driveway. They also gave us some ideas for places to eat and things to do. Now let me tell you about breakfast...all I can say is WOW! Our 1st morning we walked downstairs to the smell of bacon and piano music playing. We walked into the dining room to find 2 beautiful place settings for us, with juice, coffee and fresh fruit waiting. Denise came out and grabbed our plates, then brought them back out with the most delicious breakfast. We got to start our morning with a crustless quiche, hashbrowns, and "my dad's bacon", as Barry called it. So we got to start our morning, and every morning we were there, with full, happy bellies. It was a great start to each morning! Each morning was something different, but equally delicious. If I have my choice, I will skip hotels and stick with B&Bs. If you are traveling to the Herkimer/Cooperstown area and not traveling with children under 13, I highly recommend the Raindrops on Roses B&B. When we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly man, possibly the same one I spoke to on the phone and offered ice cream, cookies and apple cider! We were also told that they would be doing s'mores around the fire pit that night. I passed by a workout room and little hallway library. The rooms were clean and they made them up every day. There was a small fridge and a coffee maker with coffee, hot chocolate and apple cider pods. There were some signs of wear but nothing horrible. The hotel offered a free breakfast in a little room which consisted of coffee, tea, juice, hot chocolate, toast, bagels, muffins, cereal granola bars, fruit, premade waffles and I think yogurt. Not sure what else because i didn't open the little fridge. Tea and a granola bar was good for me. All in all I had a great experience at this hotel, I think it was very pricey for the area but given that there were not many other options, I guess they could get away with the prices they charge.

Upon arriving at the suite, we found low slanted ceilings where you would hit your head. One could not sit up in bed to read as there was the ceiling slanting in. The lamps on the end tables hit the ceiling. Our room was never made up and we were told that we had to request, which I asked the previous day. There is no air conditioning in the bedroom, the small living room had a floor air conditioner. The sofa in the bedroom has no lighting. The closet is a crawl space with few hangars. The tub retained water and one stood in inches of water while taking a shower. Will not return.

It very much felt that I was being monitored. Here are some grievances, not in any order: 1. Elizabeth entered the bedroom I was staying in, after I had left. She made a comment that I shouldn't leave a damp towel on wood. Yes, I understand I should not have done this. It would have been good to know before hand that Elizabeth would go into the room I paid for. 2. Went to an event for the evening, Elizabeth texts me to pay the remaining bill that evening. Yes, I understand she wants to get paid. Could it wait though? I would have also been happy to pay when I arrived. It was strange to be asked to pay at 11 PM when I came back to the house and ready to go to bed. 3. No visible outlets in the room with two twin beds. 4. On the website, it states there will be breakfast served. Upon arrival, I was notified there will be no breakfast and no coffee. I paid about $225 for a room and no offer of coffee. Just one bottled water. I chose to stay at a B&B for the sole reason of getting breakfast in the morning. What a rip off. 5. Was told upon arrival that I was to not bring any food or drinks into the bedroom. Elizabeth stated she would kick anyone out of her room with no refund if she found food in the room. Would've been great to know this before hand! Overall, it felt like I was staying at a house where I wasn't allowed to make any mistakes or touch anything. It felt high class and stuck up. Would much rather stay at the Colgate Inn for a higher price to be able to relax and not feel that I have to whisper or fear someone coming into the room I paid for and snooping around.

The hostess is very interesting, accommodating, plugged in into the town and vicinities, and a great cook. Both days our breakfast was amazing: homemade coffee cake, eggs and home potatoes, fantastic local yoghurt, local granola, cheeses, fruit and great conversation... My whole family was impressed. We will be back!

My daughter and I were up for Admit Day at Colgate, and we stayed at this beautiful Bed and Breakfast just outside of town. Our room (the Ryan room) was immaculate and had a beautiful view of the property. We felt completely at home as logged into wifi and were able to watch TV in the living room. We slept well and Kevin (the owner) put out a great spread for continental breakfast in the morning. Kevin could not have been kinder or more generous. We would definitely stay there again if we visit Colgate in the future.

Kevin and Leslie were wonderful hosts and catered to our every need be it food, cleaning, or making a warm fire. The property was spacious and beautiful with a large pond well stocked with fish and a hammock to rest on outside in the beautiful upstate air. The cabin itself was spacious and had all amenities you could imagine with a new grill, washing machines, and a great kitchen. Although we only stayed five days, I would recommend this a million times over and hope to come back again when I return to upstate New York and relive my collegiate past!

Because I was travelling alone, I ordered and enjoyed a delicious three course dinner each night. The large grounds are well-kept and colorful with blossoms and art in the summer. I spent one lovely July afternoon writing up my research in the shade in a comfortable lawn chair. Mary is a sensitive hostess, ready for friendly chatting when invited, but always aware of her guests' privacy. She made me feel very welcome and cared for.
