We've been sending our son to PCA since elementary school. We knew we wanted a strong academic…read moreprogram and the full breadth of extracurricular activities (sports, theater, etc.). And we wanted both of those things laid on a Christian foundation that upheld basic tenets of character formation. It was a challenge for us financially and geographically, but after trying it out that first year, it became clear that PCA was able to deliver on what we wanted, and more. Our son thrived academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. They quickly advanced him in the academic areas in which he demonstrated giftedness so that he continued to be challenged. Regular conversations around the importance of persisting (in the face of boredom, subject matter that's challenging, lack of personal interest), developing healthy habits of mind, flexible thinking and more contribute to a child's growth beyond the textbooks. Now in Junior High, we're seeing our son being given opportunities to lead and to serve. We appreciate being treated as partners with the teachers and administration in our son's education. The teachers, principal and head of school all make themselves available for conversations. And I love that the teachers reach out with recognition of "good stuff" our son is doing before contacting us about infractions. We love the setting of the school...open green space, beautiful river, small classroom sizes. Yes, we make sacrifices to send our son to PCA, but seeing first-hand the "product" they turn out makes it all worth it. We would do it again in a heartbeat.

We have been incredibly impressed with the teaching philosophy, and curriculum. The owner combines the community into her studies, and the kids gain exposure into multiple facets beyond a traditional kindergarten. We are very satisfied with the care, attention to detail, cleanliness, and enthusiasm. Highly recommend!

It is a great, smaller school with a very hands on, play approach to learning. A few months later he started school and hasn't had a bad day yet! My shy son is now 3 months in and opening up, he is always talking about how much he loves his school and his teachers. Ms Kimberly is amazing with the 3 year olds, I feel that she had truly taken the time to get to know my son and ensured that he is social with the other kids. He also loves Ms Danielle and Ms Kristin, they all go above and beyond for him. The school is very clean and the play areas changes with each lesson plans so the kids never get bored. I also love that they go outside everyday, rain or shine! This is truly a gem in Portsmouth and my son has opened up and learned so much already. I definitely recommend checking out The Treehouse School for your little one!

They don't cut corners and have a full range of creative ways to help the children learn and grow. The preschool and school room teachers are exceptional. Both my daughters were more than ready for public school education. The outdoor play areas are large and have a very natural feel to them... They go out every day, sometimes several times a day and they do that year round. The classrooms are always changing with projects and paint and a liveliness that makes a parent feel good about trusting their children in these caretakers hands. Truly a wonderful school.

The new sole owner named Parker really cares about his students. I also understand that he is hiring for a second instructor to do charter services for more rural coastal parts of Maine such as the islands around Jonesport. Maintenance on equipment is good and nothing is left to chance.
