Prices might be a…read morelittle high for parts, but not much and the labor costs are fair as well as paying for convenience in small town. My brake replacement was done same day, and the owner offered to drive me up to class so that I didn't miss class or have to call a friend for a ride. I would definitely recommend, especially for anything that needs to be done on a quick time frame or for any students with cars on campus at colgate.

I'm new to the area and needed a car inspection, so I decided to give D's a try (despite some mixed…read morereviews on various sites). In a nutshell, the mechanics are capable and hard working, but the owner/manager is untrustworthy. I would caution anyone who goes here to be on your toes, and if possible, to get a second opinion. During my inspection, the mechanic (a nice young guy) determined that everything was fine except for the windshield wipers. I told them that I had a spare set in my trunk, and the mechanic began putting them on. Then the owner asked me if I wanted them to install the wipers for me. I asked if he'd charge for labor, and he said yes (and gave me some line about needing to pay his workers). So I told him I could put them on myself, and mentioned that other places typically just put the wipers on for free. He replied by telling me, "You don't understand how this works...," and tried to trick me into believing that I needed to let his mechanic install the wipers. So I told him that if needed, he could fail the car and back it out of the garage so I could install the wipers. Then we could pull it back in and he could pass it. Now, realizing that he would just be making more work for himself, he simply let me put the wipers on. When paying, I told him that I would keep this experience in mind the next time I needed a mechanic. This visit was a small matter -- a squabble over a few dollars, really -- but it was enough to show me that D's Auto can't be trusted, and that they may outright trick you. That said, if anyone has any recommendations for a knowledgeable, upright mechanic in the Hamilton area, I'd love to hear them! Thanks.

And I mean RUDE! The disgruntled tow driver was rolling his eyes, sighing, and acting like a grumpy 5 year old the entire time. I try to give the benefit of the doubt and have patience. Maybe he was having a bad day. But even after I paid him and thanked him repeatedly, he had the nerve to take up more of my time and complain about the sound of my truck, among other things. Basically the business is run by an annoying boomer who enjoys price gouging and thinks he knows everything. Next time I will call the guy on 220 in Oxford who was incredibly pleasant (even in 10 degree weather and icy roads at midnight) and charges $50 less to tow 20 miles longer!! Forget this place.

Please do something else that doesn't even include these disgusting folk that care about nothing but money, I tried to get my receipt after and he talked to me like I was an enemy, straight up mad that I was even on the phone with him after the transaction. Dismissing any of my worries on where my money went saying I would "just have to deal with it" WHO SAYS THAT IN A BUSINESS SETTING?? in what world?? Don't.go.here. -- it doesn't let me reply to their response but if you think this is due to insurance your insane. I know what I was told. And I was given a rate of 700 before the day I called to get my vehicle out of there. I even called on that Monday to no response but only a dismissive "we where busy" I surely do understand that, but when your charging 95 a day YOU DONT GET TO BRUSH OFF CALLS OF SOMEONE TRYING TO GET THEIR CAR OFF YOUR LOT. This all with the most rude person on this earth on the phone with me still making threats. I'm not so silly to just come and drop a one star just because it's so fun, every thing has a reason. Another reason being the mechanic you brought it too says that you guys caused more damage to my cars frame due to you guys NOT KNOWING how to do your jobs, you think someone is going to go for that? You must be on something strong. Craziest part is I was asking so politely to just leave my car somewhere else that weekend if they would charge that much a day but they refused. And what you guys did after I tried to get my receipt was what tipped me over enjoy this one star.
