Disappointed. Ordered 2 arrangements on short notice, they did deliver, one was beautiful, the second was sub-par based on us requesting and paying for a "premium sized" arrangement. Now hold the phone. Why on earth are the yelp reviews for this establishment so poor? I have been to Hamden Florist 3 different times and every time I have been very satisfied with their service. More importantly, however, was the satisfaction of the recipients of these flowers, and I have heard nothing but positive feedback. Hamden Florist is a small little flower shop right in the heart of downtown Hamden. The staff is as friendly as could be, and beyond helpful. Two of the three times I've used Hamden Florist I had absolutely no idea what specific flowers I wanted. Instead, I would tell the florists the occasion and the person the flowers were for, and they would do the rest. I have never been disappointed with their work. These people really do know and love their craft, as they have educated me on flowers with every visit. From Mother's Day arrangements, to girlfriend bouquets, this place has never let me down. All I do is give them a price range and they knock it out of the park. What really inspired me to write this review was my last experience with Hamden Florist. It was my 1-year anniversary with my gf and I wanted to surprise her at work with a dozen roses. I called a couple days ahead to place my order and give delivery instructions and was obviously helped by a very friendly member of their arrangements staff. I even asked if i could wait until the day of the delivery to pay via debit card over the phone (because that was pay day) and it wasn't w problem at all. The next thing you know my girlfriend is texting me Friday afternoon saying how absolutely blown away she was. The arrangement came out beautifully, and the fact I got to surprise her at work made it so much better. It really upsets me that the majority of people looking for a local florist may be turned off from this gem because of their poor Yelp score. I am here to set the record straight. This place is a treasure. Support your local businesses and step your game up from the blasé bouquets you get at stop n shop. You won't be sorry! read more

We stopped in the store to personally select the specialized arrangements of choice and added to the order two times over the next week via phone. I come occasionally to pick up arrangements for my classroom and projects. For a small floral shop they do a great job. There is always a a variety of flowers for selections. I like how when I need something for a class project, they are attentive to my needs and give me the time I need to execute the project in a smoother manner. read more

I live in San Francisco but grew up in the Greater New Haven area and wanted to support a local shop when I sent flowers home for Christmas. I chose a pine centerpiece that came with candles and ornaments for around $50. What arrived was a bouquet of flowers in a vase- no candles, no ornaments. When I went back to the website I realized they delivered a $30 arrangement. I called the 855 number but it was out of service. There was no answer at the local number and no option to leave a voicemail. Very disappointed. read more

My family and I used Hamden Florist for both a funeral and a wedding during the past year. They were extremely helpful, friendly and professional. Laurie's help with bridal selections went above and beyond. Their prices are reasonable, and there is a parking lot behind the store. They recently moved into a larger storefront just a few doors down from their previous location in same shopping strip. read more

The Best Florist in the entire Hamden Area I have been using Hamden Florist consistently for over 40 years. I don't even live in Hamden anymore but I always have my flower needs filled by Andy and his team. I have live in other areas of CT, in NH, and now in NC and I continue to purchase all of my flower needs where Hamden Florist can accommodate me even if they co-broker the order due to location. I share the same feelings about Hamden Florist as Geraldo does since we have obviously received consistently EXCELLENT service. read more

The worst expirience I've ever had ordering flowers. Never even arraived at the desired destination and didn't answer the phone for me to see what was going on. I ordered a memorial floral arrangement from Hamden Florist by phone. They were very helpful in designing an arrangement for me at a reasonable price. They delivered the arrangement when they said they would. I had a photo of the floral arrangement emailed to me. I'm very pleased with the arrangement and I would definitely use Hamden Florist again. read more

They did my wedding flowers and were awful. I asked for cymbidium orchids on the cake - there were no cymbidium orchids at all. I asked for no flowers sticking out of the bouquet- the calla lilies were poking out - not the round shape that I wanted. I asked for hot pink roses and they gave me these awful wine/burgundy colored roses. I was clear with what I wanted and gave them a picture and everything. They were easy to contact and easy to work with - they just didn't give me what I wanted. read more

Can't even get Valentine's Day right. They had three delivery options for Town Walk apartments . The apartment, the Rec Center, or call. They just didn't deliver them and my daughter, away at school didn't get flowers from her parents. The owner said the flowers were returned to the shop undeliverable. Just so you know - I'd prefer giving zero stars, but yelp doesn't allow. Our office orders floral arrangements frequently for clients and business associates, and we *always* order from local shops. Recently, an associate celebrated the birth of her first grandchild, so we looked through the arrangements available on the website, and picked a wonderful $50.00 arrangement. The flowers arrived lacking nearly all the flowers pictured on the website, and when we called to complain the manager more or less blew us off. We have a photograph of what our client received, and in comparison to what's featured on the website it's an absolute joke (no hyperbole). When she offered to send the picture for comparison (wouldn't you want to do quality control if you were in the manager's position?) he said he had no interest in seeing it, and refunded half the amount paid. Poor, poor customer service. Would not recommend - there's too many good local florists to put up with a business so lacking in honesty. This is especially sad to one small business trying to benefit another. Will pursue our regular orders somewhere else from now on, and would recommend you pass on this place. read more
