They delivered the order on time but it did not meet my expectations and customer service was not satisfactory. I just received a picture of the floral arrangements and I have to say that I am extremely disappointed. There was an unexpected issue and I am thankful that an arrangement was able to be delivered on time. Unfortunately, the flowers did not live up to my expectations. I spent a great deal of time and money selecting a unique and tasteful floral arrangement. This morning I received an email message from the owner about the inability to locate yellow orchids per my order. I too work in sales and I sympathize with this position. I understand that certain things are out of our control and promises fall short. I was a bit annoyed by the lack of communication, a simple telephone should have been made as this order was planned for delivery today. Additionally the email did not even provide a telephone number for me to call. I followed up with a representative at Grove Garden Florist at precisely 10:06 am and was assured that this problem could be worked around. The women that I spoke with said that an arrangement with roses could be made and I explicetely and repeatedly said that I did not want any roses since this was being delivered to a male in his 30's. I also explained that it was his first day in his new dental practice I didn't want anything feminine and I wanted something tasteful for the office. The woman reassured me that a white orchid or some kind of plant could be delivered today. I agreed and she asked if I would like her to follow up with me once she figured out what she was going to send. By 12:38pm I had not received a response and I reached out again. The woman answered and said that she made an absolutely beautiful arrangement with ROSES and it was delivered! As you can imagine this was not satisfying to hear for the reason that my request for 1) some sort of botanical other than roses, and 2) notification of the type of arrangement being sent. The cherry on top was the picture though. Truly you can imagine who my expectations did not meet the reality. The arrangement looks like it can from Stop and Shop and I was extremely underwhelmed. I really hate to be a difficult and angry customer but I do not feel as though this level of customer service was sufficient. I am not looking to make a mountain out of a molehill but I hope that they can improve on this for future orders. Grove Gardens is located right on Main St. very close to the Westbrook line. It's been here for a long time but for some reason they changed the name to Pink a while but now I noticed they changed the name back. I'm not sure what that was about. They have the usual collection of mulch, soils and great bags of manure. Some building stones and rocks and some very cool garden ornaments including these things that look like pterodactyls with huge flapping wings that move in the wind. The inside of the building smells real nice, more like flowers rather than manure and it has a nice selection of small plants. The outside has the larger flowers and nice inventory of shrubbery like plants. The employees are always friendly and love talking about gardening stuff. When they didn't have the certain species of Canna that we wanted they even advised us where we could find it. That's pretty damn good service. One more thing, they also sell a nice variety of gravestones. Not exactly sure how that came about but If you are in a hurry for a funeral you can get the flowers and a gravestone in the same place. I'm loving the discovery of this awesome florist! I run a bridal shop a couple of exits down from them in Westbrook and I had a very last minute request (super sweet surprise) by the groom of a bride I had scheduled to come in later that day and I had about 12 minutes to figure out how is was going to have food, champagne and fresh flowers delivered in time for her appointment. I just on a whim googled local florists and they came up first so I called and Donna was awesome! She not only made it happen flawlessly, but the arrangement was INCREDIBLE!! Fresh, gorgeous and well worth the value. I gave her a budget, a color scheme and a credit card and did NOT expect a bouquet that was so lush with high end stems! She is fabulous and friendly! I adore this place! Well ever since another bride saw this floral surprise on my Instagram, I'm getting more requests for this service so I really look forward to working with Donna and Grove Gardens for years to come. Grove Gardens convinced my elderly mother that she needed to have a very large part of her lawn scraped and replaced with new topsoil and grass. She paid them $5,000 and trusted them. The lawn was horrible, it looked like it was done by a seven year old. They removed somewhere around 4" of beautiful topsoil and replace it with 2 to 3"s of garbage filler. She lifted small stones and wood chips from the "soil" and we together pulled a plastic bag from it. The "soil " they put down settled to approximately half the amount they removed. When she complained about the results they convinced her to trust them one more time. They came out and seeded for $1,500 more, i didn't find out til later that she paid them more!! She has no lawn where they touched it! Just a few small patches of grass and weeds, 90% nothing! When i spoke with them about the poor soil and amount of it, the owner told me how wonderful the soil was, it was "special", and that they put down atleast as much as they removed. He said they would come out in the fall and work on it. obviously for more money. Other than that, i was basically out of luck. Too little! Too Late!! They should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of a older person like that!! It has been this way for a year now! We will be hiring someone else. read more

We met with the florist, Kathy about a month before the wedding and she was polite, welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable about her flowers. She knew what would look nice at our venue, what flowers could be used for which pieces, and how to make our vision come to life. She was receptive to our ideas and helped us create the perfect wedding at a great cost! Throughout the planning process, she was always available to ask questions, bounce ideas off of, and supportive of us when we were feeling stressed. Kathlene and crew did the most AMAZING job on our wedding! For my centerpieces, I wanted a rainbow in every wildflower bouquet without it looking like a little girls b day party, and boy oh boy did she hear me and deliver! The rainbow wildflower bouquets were the most beautiful arrangements ever! After the wedding, we brought them to hospice to brighten up the rooms of those in care and I am sure they will. There were two styles of floating candles along with the flowers that Kathlene prepared beautifully as well. Then there was the chuppah, which we built ourselves with sticks that we have collected from 4 special places. Kathlene completely had a vision and decorated it in the most incredibly gorgeous way while still allowing our branches to show. Using beautiful flowers that smelled soooo good! I HIGHLY recommend allowing her creative freedom because you will not be disappointed! The little extra details, flowers around the fire place mantle and guest book table were all her imagination, created then executed beautifully. I wanted to get an arrangement for my grandmothers birthday and stopped by hoping they would have some nice flowers. I was greeted by a very friendly staff and 2 little girls that ushered me to the right place (I think it's family run). The woman behind the counter made a beautiful bouquet for me with lots of long white flowers for only $25! The only thing I told her was I'd like neutral flowers and my budget, and she really created something lovely. While I was waiting the little girls entertained me with a 11 month old puppy! They showed me all his tricks and told me stories of his antics at home. It really was a lovely time and I couldn't be happier with the arrangement or the price. Several people gave my grandmother flowers for her birthday but she was most blown away by mine, she kept commenting how lovely they were and put them in a prime position for the festivities. Definitely recommend, will probably come back for more! read more

I was told for a total reseeding and replanting of existing shrubs and perennials I would be informed throughout the process. Workers were sent and did what they wanted and pulled out oriental grasses and I heard them use profanity when they realized it was to be saved. They also removed a decorative stone wall and the perennials I wanted kept as no one spoke to me. The seeding job was awful and they forgot to put straw over the seed, contact the fertilizer co. and did not use enough top soil so some drainage problems existed. They had the nerve to tell me that I had to pick up the straw in the spring after I finally got them to put it down. There were too many calls to mention to get corrections made. This was a $10,000 project and I still have a drainage pipe in the backyard that never got put in the ground! Oh let me state that when they started there was rip rap in the ward with lily pad plants within the valley where the water drained that they removed and claimed they didn't know the drain was there when they ran over it with their equipment. I would never recommend them or buy even a plant from them! Gary needs to keep his word and write things down so he remembers what he says. read more

We just had landscaping done by Grove Gardens and are very dissatisfied. They put in grass seed over what was pretty much a field of weeds. When asked to rectify the problem, they defended what they had done saying that the weeds were 'woody' weeds and would not grow back after several mowings. When I said that I would pay the balance of my bill when this proved to be the case, they balked. This is still a situation in progress. read more

When i was moving and down sizing I sold a 1200 dollar front gate christmas tree to the owner of grove gardens for 350 dollars. Although she didn't have the money to pay me at the time I told her It was not a problem. When I went to collect she told me she still did not have the money and gave me a small partial payment. I have been battling cancer and have not always been able to make it over to her business when I wanted to. The next time I went over her freezer was broken and she still did not have the money. When i last went over to collect the balance she told me she was not giving me a dime more that the tree lights did not work properly. The lights worked properly when she bought it and saw it at my house and when it was delivered to her. She told me to take her to small claims court. I am not that kind of person and I told her I would not take her to court and left. Because of the way I was treated, and the way Kathy cheated me even after I reduced the price even further, I will never frequent this business again. read more
