This a PSA for your weekend plans. Join Hambone's for virtual trivia (while quarantine is still happening at least!) and have a blast. Their games are family-friendly and they offer both free and paid games (for specialty, themed trivia games such as "The Office" trivia). How'd I hear about them? It all started when I entered their Twitter competition to guess how many pieces of candy were in a jar. When I found out I won (most excitement as of recent), I circled back to learn more about them. It turned out that they're one of the most fun companies in town. We partnered with Hambone's on a Yelp Coast to Coast Trivia night that was a BLAST. I can't put into words how wonderful it was to work with owner Matt, Jessica, and their entire team. They're complete professionals that have really got trivia questions down to a science. Matt used to be an attorney and gave that up to follow his passion in using trivia to bring smiles to people's faces. You can imagine how great an attorney is at having a loud, clear voice and facilitating a crowd. Matt is perfect for the job! After that trivia game was so much fun, my family members kept texting me to sign us up for more games. This week, we've played the free Wednesday "Monster Game" (assortment of questions) and this Saturday, we paid for The Office themed trivia. The paid games are only $22 a team (few dollars per person if you gather some friends or family, or even video call them while social distancing). They even offer trivia themed off of Friends, Vanderpump Rules, Desperate Housewives, Marvel, pop culture, and many more. So much freakin' fun! We're addicted over here!

Yelp's Coast-to-Coast Trivia Night with Hambone's Trivia was an awesome way to spend a Saturday night. Matt Hammond "Hambone" did a masterful job of running the Virtual Trivia show while hoards of Yelp's Elites racked their brains for the answers to obscure trivia questions (like what is Judge Judy's salary?) I'll definitely engage again with Hambone's in the future when I'm looking for fun, excitement and friendly competition. Great show Matt along with a shoutout to Niki Burt, Yelp's Community Manager from Indianapolis, who hosted the event. Five Big Ones!

WHAT A FUN NIGHT! I participated in a trivia night with Hambone through a yelp virtual event, recently. I was a little skeptical of how much fun it would be, but boy was I proven wrong. Hambone's Trivia hosted and did such a great job - great energy, enthusiasm, questions, managed the chat room well, and quickly got scores back for us even though there were over 200 teams stretched across the globe. They had to hire more graders just for us! I can't wait to play again!

Having a blast with my teammate!

So much fun! Just a tad stressful because I hate to lose but what a fun time at home! Thanks for the event! Didn't do well but still had a blast. Well organized, easy to participate in, fun host and opportunity to chat with the community via youtube! All in all a great time! Can't wait to participate in the FRIENDS trivia event!

Chaotic having YouTube, video conference, and the quiz open in 3 windows. I prefer Mentimeter over Hambone's virtual trivia but I like Hambone's 5 phases of answers in Google Form format over some others' Trivia Google Forms. LA Trivia shows the answers and team rankings on their Youtube screen live. Hambone has the questions in their form instead of just "Question 1". It is also interesting that there are separate Google Forms/ Answer sheets for the captain and the team. The Infatuation virtual trivia makes you answer each question within their video but only gives you 15 seconds, which is too short. Mentimeter has good timing, you can answer with your phone, and it has a great interface. Overall, this was fun, but it's hard to hear both the team discussion while the moderator is talking. Having more visuals on the Youtube would be nice but totally understandable since it is live.

Game time, let's go!

I have to be in a pretty desperate situation to play trivia other than Hambone's. Great format, great hosts, great questions.

A lot of fun, Hambone gave us a variety of challenging questions presented in different ways. A nice way to spend the Pandemic!

Parking is a little bit of a struggle if you don't want to pay for the garage but we were able to find a spot close by after a little searching. The event is located inside the City Way Gallery on the first floor (next to Yolk). It wasn't too busy on a Thursday night and there were plenty of good seating options. There are also lots of board games available so it would be fun to go with a big group and play. Drink-wise the menu was pretty extensive but there were no mocktails on it. Usually this isn't an issue, but since the drinks were pre-batched they couldn't turn the drinks into alcohol-free versions. The staff were nice enough to find us some canned mocktails, however. They also have some cute food options for people that don't drink, like milk and cookies and cupcakes. Overall, I was very impressed with the event and will likely be back with different friends this season. The only feedback I have is to include some mocktails on the menu for those of us that don't drink but want to come for the vibes.

Still a fun Christmas explosion, you get your ID checked by a sign that asks if you have had 21 Christmas yet, the inside has a mess of colorful fun tinsel decorations, couches and Christmas pictures from the staffs childhood. The menu is awesome my hats off to whomever thought it up, every cocktail is Christmas themed. I went with the kolalalalalala made with gin it was light and refreshing. I was sad to have missed the Christmas music, I believe when we went since it was a Saturday night they were playing more popular songs. Great service and awesome activity for Christmas

I'm not sure if the catering is set up by the venue or the host, but it was very nice. You can rent the building that includes several bedrooms. Based on the tour, it seemed the home still has most of it's original features. There is quite a bit of parking available and you don't find a TV in every room so it's perfect to stay a bit off the grid. I look forward to coming back for one of their hosted events to see what else there is to offer.

They did a great breakfast and made it a personal interest that we were happy there. They were easy to talk to and made us feel very comfortable and welcome. In between going to events we got to relax and have some good conversations with them about things to do in Indianapolis. They are the jem of this place. The house is very historical. We love the architecture and the character it carries. It felt like living back in time before tv's and cell phones took our time from us. Very clean. I slept like a rock in the comfortable bed. I am thankful these places still exist and the atmosphere that brings family together. I can't wait to stay there again next year.

It has been over ten years since my original review of Fort Ben Pub, a locally owned pub and grill…read moretype establishment located in the Fort Ben area in the same strip center that includes Moo & Lou's Ice Cream and Phaya Thai. There's a wheelchair ramp in the middle of the building - I'll be honest, I don't quite trust it as I've noticed people in this parking area tend to block it without noticing it. There's also easy access from a ramp at the end of the building. Lawrence has done quite a bit to improve their curb cuts in this area, an area that has grown massively since my last review including 2-3 apartment buildings, a library branch, and an improved civic plaza. Fort Ben Pub itself is pretty accessible, though it becomes less so when it's packed (for example, my most recent visit was on a Friday karaoke night and accessibility was definitely more limited). There's two glass doors going inside the pub and, yes, they do offer a few tables on the sidewalk for outside dining. As you enter, you arrive in a large dining area with a beautiful bar to the right. The restaurant is decorated in warm woods with a few televisions of varying sizes and, on this evening, background music playing. On this visit, I was with a festival after-party that was placed off the main area in a smaller area that had two pool tables along with a variety of food/appetizers, etc. It's a cozy room that gave me a chance to check out the rest of the building. I did see the restrooms, which I would definitely not consider accessible - plan accordingly. I could possibly get in the door of the men's restroom, but it was quite tight and I have a smaller chair. This is a beloved place for a friend of mine who lives nearby and within walking distance. They treat her well. She was there during this visit, and I honestly just smiled at their clear affection for her (it's mutual). I love places that become community, and knowing this makes me want to return. That said, my accessibility concerns do somewhat limit my options. Fort Ben Pub does offer space for private events/groups and does catering. They have pool tables, Putt Putt live, Mega Touch, and Golden Tee and most of the sports network channels. While I'd tried both their tenderloin and burger in the past, I had a variety of items this time around due to the after-party, though not everything it seems was on the menu (or I'm just not recognizing it). As I noted previously and my friend also proves, the employees are super friendly and helpful. There are definitely times when it gets busy, though it's also pretty easy to come here during slower times. This particular visit was the first time I'd experienced accessibility issues. There's an awful lot to love here. I have to say that while I wasn't in the room with karaoke, the people were having a blast with such sincere enthusiasm that I was almost in awe. I've done karaoke one time in my life, and I don't think there's enough alcohol in the world to fuel another attempt. I also know from being close to the folks at Moo & Lou that these businesses watch out for each other - which I really like as it's a nice little safety factor. In the end, my star rating isn't changing but my appreciation for Fort Ben Pub has grown. This visit made me want to return in the near future, and it made me grateful for those places where you can get so comfortable that it feels like the people become part of your village. That's Fort Ben Pub.
