My daughter brought her car in to have 15in rims and snow tires installed. The car normally takes 16in rims, but from asking around, it seemed 15in rims would be OK. This tire centre said they would install them. There was a slight tick sound from the inside of the rims when the rear wheels were rotated. The owner said this would go away after some wear. My daughter accepted his explanation since he was the expert. However, when the car was off the hoist, there was a loud grinding sound coming from the rear wheels. After confirming with other auto mechanics that a vehicle should not be allowed to be released if unsafe, we brought the car back to have the summers put back on. The shop owners said responsibility was on my daughter because it was her that researched these rims for her car. To me, this is analogous to a customer saying that after research it is OK to drive a car with the lug nuts hand-tightened and the responsibility would be on the customer. I thought we go to mechanics for expert and professional service. The owner said I ruined her day and that they do have good customers. I have no doubt they provide good service to most of their customers. But you would think that a good company would also maintain a good service reputation by attempting to make the situation right. read more
