When I called to schedule the appointment, I was reassured that the recommendations were genuine. Jason was very thorough over the phone and explained everything clearly. I came to the Liverpool location to get a helix piercing. I called ahead and was able to get a same-day appointment to see Jason. He was very informative on the phone, telling me what I needed to do to prep for the appointment, how much the piercing would cost, and answering all of my asinine questions. The shop is very clean, spacious, and conscious of COVID protocols. The staff is super nice. Jason was very nice, professional, and efficient. He observed good sanitation practices, and I did not have to remove my mask to get the piercing done. He took me through the whole process, showed me how do a deep breathing exercise while he did the actual piercing, and did a fabulous job of placing the piercing. I couldn't be happier with how it came out. They gave me aftercare instructions for the piercing and told me to call if I had any problems (pro tip: pick up gauze pads, Germ-X fragrance free anti-bacterial soap, and NeilMed saline wound wash, all available at Walmart). It's been about a week since I came in, and my piercing is healing well. Just a heads up: they expect punctuality and it's a cash only shop (they have an ATM, but try to come prepared with cash to pay). For my piercing, it was $50. My family started to come here for tattoos after our doctor recommended the place because she knew they were clean, careful, and did amazing work. Our doctor was right. My mom and sister were the first to get their tattoos here and they did a great job making it an easy decision to come back here. I came here right after I turned 18 to get my first tattoo of praying hands. I loved that when I went to make an appointment the person there was really great at giving me advise since this was my first tattoo and the thing I loved the most is that the tattoo didn't go to that artist strictly because he spoke to me. At Halo the tattoo goes to the artist who is best in that area. I love that since I have gotten a couple in Rochester and it was not the same way. A person got my tattoo simply because they helped me first. After I made my appointment I went back a couple of day slater for Chris to do my tattoo. It took about 2 hours and cost $250. It was totally worth the price and the pain. The tattoo came out amazing and years later, it is still amazing. After I got this tattoo I cried for weeks saying I would never get another because the pain is so awful... well that was a lie because 6 weeks after that I got another tattoo. This one was much small and on my wrist. I got it to match my mom and three sisters and King Ron did this one. Similar as my first tattoo I said it wasn't worth the pain and I was glad that I had my tattoos but I didn't need anymore. Well once again, this was a lie because another 6 weeks after the second tattoo I went back for a third. This was the Italian flag in a heart which I love. I can't remember who did this tattoo but he is no longer working with the shop. After those three I took a tattoo break for a couple of years and then went back and got my fourth with is the footprints in the sand on my foot which my sister also got. The person who did this tattoo also did my heart and was also amazing. I got 2 other tattoos in Rochester once I moved there and they are good tattoos they are small and simple so I didn't mind getting them done in Rochester instead of Halo however, I prefer Halo and will drive an hour and a half to get a tattoo which I have done two times with my husband. This summer we will make a third trek to Syracuse for a tattoo. My husband got Mr. Feeny and had things added to a tattoo he previously had done elsewhere that needed a little more love. Overall, this place is amazing. We tell everyone we know to drive here just to get a tattoo since the place is clean and the do great work. This will continue to be our place to get tattoos and if I were into body piercing I would come here as well. read more

I had an exceptionally good experience at Halo on Marshall street. With the number of people I've seen in there the few times I've gone, I'm very surprised they don't have more reviews. In any case, this was my first tattoo and I was a bit nervous. From the beginning the woman working the front worked with me to find the right artist for what I wanted. I had DJ Rose do the actual tattoo. He was on time and went over the text and design I wanted in detail to make sure it looked right. You can tell he's passionate about the industry based on his tons of tattoos and views on people who don't tolerate them. The process of getting the tattoo wasn't all that painful considering I had it on my ribs. Good hands and the tattoo looks great. Overall, a clean tattoo parlor and great service made for an fantastic experience. I would definitely recommend them and would go back when I decide to get another one. My 6 year-old daughter has been asking me to get her ears pierced so I messaged Halo on Facebook to find out if they would pierce a 6 year-old and if they would also do my second holes at the same appointment and how they were handling appointments due to Covid-19. Jason replied back nearly instantly and was super informative. He booked us for an appointment right then and provided us with arrival information. When we go to Halo (Liverpool location) on the day of our appointment we called to checkin. The place is super clean, warm and looks great inside! As soon as I met Jason I knew I made the right choice going to Halo. He got down on one knee and spoke to my daughter immediately connecting with her. He was so warm and kind and he walked her and I through the entire process, explained all of the instruments he was using and asked her if she had any questions. He even asked her about herself, school, etc. He is thorough and takes his time, making sure the holes are in the proper place and checking with you to be sure you like the placement as well. My daughter was so calm and prepared and didn't even flinch, thanks to Jason! When it was my turn, I got a bit light headed and needed to lay down after my first piercing. Jason was so patient and accommodating and non judgmental. He let us hang for a bit to make sure I was ok and he even walked us to the car. I cannot say enough amazing things about Jason. Your JEWELRY is OVERPRICED and NOT QUALITY. Just because I don't look like any of the other SPENDING-DADDY'S-MONEY customers doesn't mean I'm not important or have money that's just as good. I came in today because I needed a new curved barbell for a cartilage piercing (stupid ball fell off!). I've been here before for just such an issue with no problem. The guy who came out was outright hostile from the beginning. I told him that I needed a new barbell and he informed me that their piercer wasn't there. I thought he must be confused as to what I needed, so I clarified that I didn't need a piercing I just needed the jewelry. He said, "Well, I mean, if you know exactly what you need then maybe". I did know exactly the gauge and we could have easily compared what I had to what was in their stock and I would have left a happy customer. However, it was extremely obvious that this guy had no interest in helping me, so I left, saying "I guess you don't want my business" as I left. He said "No, we don't". So, there you have it. I get that I wasn't there to spend hundreds on a tattoo, but this guy's attitude was totally uncalled for. read more

My little sister wanted to get her first tattoo, and we decided we'd each get one. When we arrived at Halo, we were introduced to Jeff - who from the start was dismissive, condescending, insulting and incredibly rude. He was unhelpful and mean, and clearly thought our idea for our tattoos was just terrribly beneath him - so much so, that he loudly made fun of me, my sister and her tattoo to the other artists as he was beginning to tattoo her. What the hell?! We had originally come in for just a consultation and didn't have a lot of time before we had to be elsewhere, but quickly we were strong-armed by this dickhead into one of us getting the tattoo RIGHT then. My one biggest regret is not swooping in immediately and getting us both the fuck out of there. When it was time for her to sit down, she asked him how he would like her to sit and he laughed derisively at her. When I offered to hold my sister's other hand (it's her first tattoo, come on), he snapped at me and refused to let me. Never experienced that before in any of my other tattooing experiences - and I understand there are safety concerns, but there is absolutely no reason to be an asshole about it either. He didn't ask how she was feeling, didn't prep her for what she was about to experience and in general just was one of those dudes who's too fucking cool to be a decent human being. It was like his entire purpose as a tattoo artist was to make other people feel like shit. Afterward, he tried to strong arm me repeatedly into doing a tattoo with him as well - even after telling him multiple times that no, we had somewhere to be and hadn't planned to do ANY tattoos today at all. There was only time for one. He told me, "maybe if you stopped bitching for a second we could get the tattoo finished." Seriously - guy was a major turd. And I feel we were overcharged. $70 for a tiny tattoo that he half-assed and finished in under five minutes. When I got my version of this tattoo (at a different store, Siren Studios, which was much better), it cost $60 and the guy worked much, much harder on the design and the actual tattoo. Luckily, her tattoo turned out fine and there was never an issue of cleanliness, but the way we were treated was so fucking lame that it almost ruined the entire experience. I have multiple tattoos, and I have never seen an artist behave this way. Most artists care a lot about the work they do, and most of them really respect and care about the bond you enter into with the person you're tattooing. These pieces are forever, and a first tattoo can be incredibly vulnerable. Usually people don't enter lightly into having someone else's artwork branded into their skin until the end of time - and artists need to respect that. Don't be a dick just because you're so insecure about how lame you are that you need to make everyone else feel bad - and if you can't figure that out, stop tattooing people. I read online later that this guy is a guest artist at Halo, and I don't know the rest of the artists there, but Halo really should think about how they want their store to be represented. tl;dr never get tattooed by Jeff at Halo and DON'T go there for your first tattoo! They're condescending and rude, and care too much about being cooler than you than they do about giving you a good experience. read more

Came here to get a double helix piercing on a whim one day after reading about how great of a piercer jason is, my mistake. After not even consulting with me on the kind of jewelry I wanted, he began to pierce my ear. I seriously didn't even see the jewelry until it was in my ear. About a week or two later, following care instructions to a T, the top piercing had completely swallowed the back of the labret, due to how small of a piece of jewelry he put in. Any piercer will tell you that you always use a longer post to account for swelling. So, after having my boyfriend's mom painfully fish it out for me late that night, I needed to go back to the piercer to get my jewelry switched, which he told me would be complimentary if i had any issues with the piercing. He wasn't at the liverpool location that day but since this seemed emergent I drove all the way into the city to the other location. One piercer between two locations, yikes. I walked in and immediately began receiving attitude from him after explaining what happened. "Did we do this piercing for you?" Yes. "When did you have this done?" About a week and a half ago. He then told me I was LUCKY that it was around christmas time or else he would have charged me for the service and the new jewelry! That's not what he said at the time of the piercing! He said anything after a week they consider to be the customer's fault. How is it my fault that my ear swelled due to the short post YOU put in it?! I was blown away when he said that. I chose to wait to write this review until now to see how well the rest of the healing process went. It's not going well. I've followed the aftercare instructions every day for 9 months now and it's still not even close to healed. To put it in perspective, i just got a conch piercing (from a more reputable shop), 3 weeks ago and I'm already sleeping on that side of my head more comfortably than the helix piercings! The top piercing is also crooked. I should probably just remove them at this point but what a waste of $80! Horrible quality and even worse customer service. read more

Busted a sick wheelie right out front in the parking lot on my four wheeler. Fell right off the back and clipped my cheek on a loose screw. Walked in with blood all over my face and coyheed and Cambria necked teeshirt. Immediately walked into the bathroom and slammed the door shut. Boy that was a smelly mess. Hope they didn't mind I used all the bathroom spray and toilet pape. I opened the door and power walked right back to the counter and shout "one JAG tattoo, ya heard!?" The staff pulled his headphones out and said "can I help you?" I told him again my chest piece idea and he was so stoked. We exchanged fist pounds, played a quick game of bloody knuckles and exchanged hotmail usermanes. So we walked into a room and he closed the curtains. I took my band tee off and tossed it right in the trash. "Gonna swipe me a souvenir shirt on the way oit!" Seth cleaned the needles in front of me while I was taking selfie. I laid on my back and man lowered the tattoo gun onto my chest. As soon as the needle hit my skin I let out a loud scream and punched the wall. Boy were my hands shot from bloody knuckles and wall punches. I did burst about 6 capillaries in my face also. He attempted a second time and this time it just tickle! Only took about 4 hours and I did sleep right through most of it. dreamt most about JAG and MASH. I looked in the mirror and my JAG chest piece look so good. I forgot I also had blood all over my face. I hope the wife never finds out please. The rocker man and I walked out front and I paid him for my tat as well as tipped him a few bucks and some bed bath and beyond coups. I went in this shop for my birthday which was on 2/22/2020 and wanted to get a small tattoo. Once I enter the shop I just wanted to know the price of the tattoo because a lot of people has told me that this shop overcharge. So the man at the front desk told me to pick a font for the tattoo lettering, I told him I wanted the normal and cheapest font, he told me normal can be anything I need you to pick one. So I picked a font and he showed the owner who name is David. The owner David Rose gave me a price which was 250. So I asked him why did it cost so much and that I have bigger tattoos that cost less. The owner started to get smart with me and told me this is the font I picked so that's why it's 250, he also said I can give you the scripture font which is cheaper and I told him thats what I told the man at the font desk. David Rose than started to get very rude and smart with me to the point he was cutting me off as I was trying to explain to him my point of view. As me and the owner arguing the man at the front desk hopped in the argument as well and started to attack me as well. The owner was so rude and nasty that I spread the word around and a lot of minority's said that they have experience the same treatment. I do not recommend this tattoo shop because one they are rude and two as a women who is a minority I felt really attack and felt as if the owner was racist. read more
