I was in need of an emergency repair due to someone trying to steal my car the night before. I called Halls auto tech to explain my situation and they asked me to bring it in. That morning Joe and his team were able to replace my key ignition switch asap. The experience was so great and fast that I had them replace my brakes and oil too. I will definitely be back for future car repairs. read more

I had a alternator issue today on New Years. Eve. They were busy, but found a way to squeeze me in. I am so grateful that I gave a tip cause their prices were very reasonable and did it charge me more for the emergence on New Year's Eve. I am for sure coming back here. read more

I feel so blessed to have moved next to this mechanic. Joe and his team are amazing. I have a PRIUS...They are extremely honest, and always work hard to source the best/cheapest parts for me and give me the best price. My old mechanic would charge me a lot more for services Joe provides. Even if I move I will still be coming back to Joe. Thank you HALLS! read more

I'm surprised there aren't any more reviews for this place. I was hesitant to come here because my friend had recommended the place and I usually go to Radi's (love them). Radi's had a telephone meltdown and I couldn't get a hold of them by the time I made an appointment here (they called me back within 15 minutes, though). My transmission was slipping and I was running through oil like crazy, so I took it here for the last-minute emergency. One good thing about this place is that it opens late compared to radi's (5pm versus 7pm), and Joe was able to take my car in at 4:30pm and had it done within 1.5 hrs. I was a worried over how expensive the problem might be because it involved my transmission, but after showing up @ 5:30pm, my car was up in the air, had been inspected and almost repaired. I was able to candidly ask Joe any question off the top of my head concerning my car, and although running back and forth and busy as heck, he multi-tasked his way through my inquiries and answered them without inconvenience. The job knocked me down a mere 95 bucks, which was a relief, and I decided to have it picked up in the morning. Even noticed I was running low on motor oil and didn't charge me for the top off. By the time we arrived at 8:30 AM, the car had already been drive-tested and re-parked. Car's running great now. One minor complain involved some cigarette smoke residue emanating from my car seats, but that dissipated within a few hours and I'm only partially inclined to drop the rating. But considering the last-minute notice, the speed at which it was fixed, and the fact that this place was absolutely PACKED when I got there, I'm hard pressed to do so. The difficult part is deciding who I should go to, Joe or Radi's. *_* read more

Joe kicks ass Total pro No BS honest and reliable, fair in price had alway been available when we need him even Sundays I'd recommend him to anyone read more

I drive an hr away from Huntington Beach to come here! When friends ask do u know a good mechanic u trust and I refer this place. my car: '02 mustang and from tune ups, oil changes, hearing nasty weird sounds from the brakes fixed right away every time. I came in without calling on a very busy day, the owner (Joe) still took the time to drive my car around the block and see what the hacks going on... wasn't expecting that at all Thanks guys! read more

Thank you for your honesty we do appreciate your work and effort to keep us happy. We like how we can depend on joe on what ever our vehicles may need. Satisfied 100% thank you. read more

Had this oil leaks for years. I was not sure if it was the rear crank seal (which is too expensive to fix). I was tired of putting a cardboard under under the engine every time I park on the driveway. I've had a few other mechanics look at this leak and and no mech could find the leak and said it is probably the rear crank seal. Took my car to Hall's for an AC issue I asked Joe if he can also look at the leak. His first look after looking at the engine was the rear crank seal was bad. I was disappointed that we had the same conclusion. A few days later, I was ready to pick up the car and Joe suggested that he may have found a different oil leak. He mentioned he was not 100% sure if this would stop all the leaks but changing this seal would help reduce the oil dripping/leak. I did go ahead and he worked on that leak and he had the car the rest of the afternoon to fix the leak. I picked up the car and noticed oil on the bell housing right away. I kept an eye on the oil drip on the bell housing and every day there was less oil. Now it's been five days and the oil build up is gone on the bottom and the housing is dry. Joe did a great job and was patient looking for the REAL oil leak!! He kept the car for 4 days but it was well worth it. I can now park anywhere on my driveway with no oil drip!!! Thanks Joe read more

Joe and his team are about as legit as it gets. They deal with my classic truck, my 4x4 jeep and my daily commuter Benz. Good guys, great work and good communication. I would recommend this place to my woman or my mom and that's saying a lot They do get busy, so be patient! read more

I moved to LA at the beginning of the year from the east coast with my car and one of my first tasks was to find a good, reliable mechanic. I decided to take my car to Hall's for my first oil change because I lived nearby and though I've moved farther away since then, I haven't been anywhere else. Their rates are very fair and their work is honest. They always let me know if something else needs to be done and give me a timeline of how long I have to do it. I also recently changed my out of state plates to CA ones, and these guys helped me remove the troublesome rusted bolts for no charge. Highly recommend!! read more

I recently took my 2009 Audi because it was running badly. Spoke with I believe the son and he pulled up my codes. My coil was bad and needed to be replaced. I was really not looking forward to how much it would cost but I left my car there and in no time I was called to pick up my car. They didn't charge me and arm and leg like the dealership would have and It's running like a champ now. I def going to recommend this shop to family and friends. Great work and reasonable prices and fast service. Thanks hall's automotive!! read more

Had A spark plug stuck in one of my 2005 nissan sentra and I was fearing to worst, meaning that the damm thing will break when trying to take it off and It will most likely would had to take the head off and take it to a machine shop, long story short I was look for a good mechanic and boy are those hard to come by, found this shop very close to my house and yelp them. Saw that they had good reviews and gave them a call, they were very nice from the get go I explained my situation to Hall and told me that my issue with my car was very common and that I should't worry, took the car in on a Friday afternoon and I got a call on Monday with and estimate for $238.00 and that my car will be done on Tuesday. Fast, inexpensive and great service what else can you ask for in a mechanic shop. I will certainly be coming back to Hall's for all of my repair and would highly recommend them. read more

I took my truck to Halls because my neighbor said they did good work and they are reasonable. I am moving out of state and haven't had my truck serviced in a long time, I knew it was going to be a pretty hefty price. Not to mention right before I took it in, the truck developed a huge leak in the heater core and I freaked out because I knew that would be expensive. Which was not the case not the case at Halls. In the past I have had bad encounters with mechanics and they tried to squeeze every penny out of me, but not Halls. Automotive places were quoting me for all the work over a few grand. You could imagine I was freaking out, but when I spoke with Jay, he reassured me that they can do it all and there quote was well under what I was quoted. I was impressed, because I had a laundry list of things that my truck needed. I asked them to do a full inspection and I figured they would call with more to add because that's what happens, he called me once just to tell me one thing and that everything was good and the price didn't change. It took a few days but it's important to take time when working on something your depending on to get you from point A to point B. Joe the manager was so nice and explained to me every detail they did. I was kinda a nervous reck because I had so many bad experiences before and they were so great. The truck runs so smooth and doesn't smell like antifreeze anymore. Yay! Thank you Halls. I highly recommend people go here for their repair needs. read more

I usually don't write reviews but seeing how helpful Joe was, this is a must. I noticed my car overheating and in dire need of service, I was referred to Hall's by a friend. Joe was able to diagnose the problem, without hidden fees and reasonable pricing. I had my vehicle repaired and back on the road again. I continue to get my regular oil changes there and Joe goes the extra mile for his old and new customers. read more

Thank you so much for a quick oil change at the last minute. having moved from the West Side a few months ago, I expected busy, super $$$ and no personality. None of that at Hall's. If i could give them O stars that would be the REAL rating of this company. First of all the Labor charge is through roof, rude customer service. For as long as they taken their time with your vehicle you would think they doing a great job, Wrong... The son is rude and doesn't know crap, so much for a secretary. Took my truck for a re- thread on my spark plugs, to only come back 3k miles later, and no warranty on his work, i was charged again, brought it back a third time, getting charged a ridiculous amount. Given the fact I only brought it to Halls and no other mechanic still no customer guarantee or Love.... WTF.... i would not bring my vehicle here anymore... PSA...take your vehicle, time and most importantly your money elsewhere.... read more

don't take your cars to Joes even if there moving to a new location your reputation follows you! maybe at one time Joe Halls was a reputable mechanic ,but I think people are thinking of Joe Sr. because the Joe of today is a straight thief ! took my car to get engine work done . I paid 2,000.00$ and my car after 2 months left me stranded my only sole means of transportation when going back to Joe Halls there staff would lie and say Joe was out of town and they had nothing in there system saying my car had work done there ! man Joe hid for 6 months avoiding phone calls I would go to the shop the guy avoided me period ! when getting car fixed again mechanics opened engine up and told me Joe Frankensteined my car heads didn't even belong to the Honda ETC. please do your selves a favor never take your car to Joes close friends of his family go to different mechanics ! read more

My girlfriend took her 2009 honda civic to this place for an oil change about 3 weeks ago, when i noticed the oil light flickering on and off a few days ago. "But, how could this be?" i told her "as you just got the oil change?" Then low and behold, a small puddle of oil where the car was last parked. Drove by this place on New Years day knowing quite sure that they would be closed even though Google had them listed as "open with flexible hours," to find them closed. So I decided to take it in today as there was no notice saying they would be closed the whole weekend and Google telling me they were open on Saturday, the day after new years with no "flexible hours from 9-5" to find them once again, closed. So having been forced to go to a different mechanic, he tells me..."the oil filter was very loose." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? If that isn't an act of sabotage, I don't know what is! So Hal, please tell me how you or your people can make such a huge mistake for such a simple procedure? There really is no excuse, so this must be your thing...you prey on people who come to you for simple fixes to further damage their cars in hopes that they're dumb enough to go back and spend more of their money fixing what should never have been broken in the first place! Shame on you and this God forsaken place! read more
