COULDN'T HAVE BEEN ANY HAPPIER. Starting a new hobby can be scary. The staff at Halls have all been informative, patient, and kind. I came in just to get a rough estimate of specs for a bow that I wanted to purchase in the near future. Drew helped and walked me through the whole entire process as well as set me up with a handful of bows to try at their indoor range. Drew was very accommodating and I honestly would've never expected the time and care they put into their customers considering most outfitters and outdoor sports stores employees look at customers like they're a nuisance. This place blowsssss. Go here if you want to deal with unknowledgeable staff that doesn't care about their customer. They push a product out the door that's "good enough." They will not take the time to properly tune your bow, they are lazy and take shortcuts in every department. worst archery shop I've ever been to in my entire life. Can I give zero stars. This is clearly a place where women are not welcome. My daughter and I went for Mother's Day to try the sport, and the owner got in my daughter's face to the point where he was almost touching her. She had made a mistake with holding the bow, and told her that if she did it again, we would have to leave. Nothing had been clearly explained during our 5 minute introduction. Had a great time here this weekend. I was skeptical about giving it a try because I'd done it in the past with very basic bows (at camp in the '90s) where you always risked scraping half your finger off. I was happy to learn normal, modern bows don't require you to hold the arrow in place so I gave it a go. So much fun! We rented 4 lanes and didn't realize until the end that you pay per lane not per person, so it worked out to $9 per person for an hour. Pretty good price, I think. To begin, one of the employees gave us a quick lesson, made sure we knew how to aim properly, use the correct stance, etc. It was very easy to pick up. The nice thing about the targets is that they're on electronic pulleys so when you're done shooting all your arrows, you just press a lever that brings the target to you so nobody's ever 'in the field' and at risk for being shot at. You can also send the target back to whatever distance you're comfortable with. Our group of six all seemed to enjoy ourselves and though it's a little far from where we live, it might be worth the trip because I've heard the one near my house doesn't have the electronic return targets. I recently went here for the first time in probably 15 years. The place was just as I remembered, even though shooting a bow and arrow is something I didn't remember as well as I thought.. But no problem; the staff was incredibly helpful and gave me a quick refresher lesson. It costs under $20 for an hour of shooting with a bow and arrows rental, and if you don't use the whole hour, they will prorate it so you only pay for the time you shot. Great facilities, and no one there acted superior to anyone else. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. And now I know how to shoot a bow and arrow for the impending zombie Apocalypse.... read more

They gave a wonderful selection of products and they know their stuff. They will fit you with the appropriate equipment and train you until you feel comfortable. Now I can happily check "Shoot an honest-to-God bow and arrow" off my bucket list thanks to Hall's Arrow. The three of us went into the range knowing nothing about archery and leaving... still bad at archery, but knowing how not to hold a bow like a dummy. The guys working there were very nice, especially the employee who was kind enough to give us a three-minute lesson in holding the bow and shooting, and spotting us for a little bit. Had a craving to learn how to shoot a bow & arrow. Looked up archery ranges in CT and found Hall's. Went there today & had a blast! Layout: There are walk-up and automatic ranges. You can your own lane and own dedicated target(s). There is a large shop along side the ranges with a massive array of anything and everything archery related. Staff: There were plenty of staff all taking care of some sort of the facility from cleaning, to repairing, to assisting customers. The staff were super friendly & very patient with us. We stated it was our first time and right away they set us up with a beginners bow and arrow set, taught us the basics from stance to shooting and assisted us when we had questions. Range: We were set in the automatic range where we got to choose our target types (different poster layouts of targets) choose our distance (automatic switch to change the distance) and it was very easy to learn. Cost: We spent 1hr & 20min at the range with two people on the automatic side and it only came out to $13! What a bargain! They also said we have our own equipment it would only cost $6/hr per lane. Overall: This place is great place to go if you want to just have some fun and shoot a bow an arrow. You can even buy your own complete beginners set for under $200. I would recommend this place for anyone looking to pick up a hobby, try a new sport, or even let of some steam. After 15 minutes I was hitting bullseye about 25% of the time from different ranges! :) read more

Awesome place with great staff, been shooting a compound bow for about 2 weeks now and went in for a lesson with Chris. He fixed my draw length and tweaked the sights. Made a few more adjustments and I learned a ton. After the lesson I stayed and shot for another 45 minutes and total price was $37 for the lesson and range time. Went there to upgrade my compound bow. Had question while looking and ordering one and the employee seemed like he couldn't care less. Ended up ordering one so I could get it in time for hunting. Went back there and worked with a different employee who was amazing. Very knowledgeable and worked with me. He had to take a break and I ended up dealing with the same employee from the last time there. He was more interested in talking to a friend who was there rather than helping me complete my set-up. I asked questions which he didn't answer and while sighting it in I shot 3 arrows and he said "good enough" and walked away. I will never go back. It's unfortunate since it seems like most of the people are good but I won't risk having to deal with somebody who doesn't care. read more

It pains me to write a poor review of this place, but I had an experience with a particular employee who outwardly laughed and mocked me for my choice in bow (it's not a $1k Hoyt setup so I guess I can't possibly group arrows and drop game with it, apparently) and also had the nerve to try and "correct" and coach me (very incorrectly might I add) on my form. I'm not just stuck in my ways, I'm just bothered by elitists who I can likely outshoot trying to on the spot both train and shame me when all I want is just buy a set of arrows. Like I said, it pains me to write a bad review about an otherwise, excellent shop but this one particular sales associate has no buisness mocking customers and pretending to be any real authority on archery. read more

My husband wanted to try something new so we went to Halls and paid for the 30 minute lesson. We both thought it was well worth it. I wish I got the name of the guy who helped us, but we were so focused on learning that I must have missed it. But he was great! He went over everything from how to hold the bow to safety. He demonstrated everything as he went and still had time to watch us both for a little to see what we needed more help on. Another worker was later helping another costumer close by and I noticed that he seemed great too. We stayed to practice for about an hour after the 30 minute lesson. The prices seemed fair to me. It was about a 40 minute drive for us but I think we'll return again in the near future! read more

Went there this Friday. First time I am doing archery and enjoyed it. The trainer was very patient and explained everything very clearly to my old parents. They enjoyed it too. Fantastic Shop; Unrivaled Customer Service!! Sometimes it can be a bit intimidating walking into a sportsman's shop. The tech's hardly ever consider you and your needs worth their time. However, this is NOT the case at Halls. I traveled over an hour in need of some maintenance during a crisis with my Hoyt. Chris, the tech, took care of me, went right to work on my bow with a smile, all while interacting with my wife and infant daughter. You got a real sense of customer first from a very personable guy and supporting staff. At the end of our visit, the bow was fixed and perfectly tuned, and my wife even had the opportunity to shoot a bow she had been eyeing all for a very reasonable price. My wife and I and four children, all 18 and older, were first time bow shooters and went here. We arrived a little before 4 pm on a Tuesday, without a reservation, and there were 4 lanes open, so we did not have to wait (we rotated the six of us on the 4 lanes). We were taken care of extremely well. We were supplied with bows and arrows to match our individual sizes. We were given excellent one on one instruction, including several practice shots. Our instructor was top-notch; she was very knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and clear with helpful instructions. We shot for an hour and a half and had a great time. The distance of the target is easily adjusted and easily brought back to the shooter to remove the arrows and resume shooting. read more

I finally decided to buy a compound bow so i asked a friend of mine where to go and he sent me here. Being a girl and knowing nothing about compound bows I was slightly worried about going on my own and being taken advantage of. All my fears vanished the moment of my first interaction with the staff. Everyone there were beyond helpful. They set me up with multiple bows and trigger releases. Taught me basics from how to put the arrow in, drawing back and aim properly, how to increase pull, and even how and when to wax the strings. If they saw i was doing something wrong the politely corrected me. I am so glad i came here. Not once did anyone make me feel inferior or stupid. They let me shoot as much as i wanted to and i never felt rushed or pressured to buy anything. When i finished my purchase i told my friend what i got and he told me it was a great bow. I wish this place was closer to my house but i will be sending everyone who asks here. read more
