With one hand on our champagne glasses and the other dipping crackers into delicious fruit compotes (that are also sold in the store) and cheeses, my sister and I made our way around the store mentally buying fairy-princess gear for the nieces, barbecue accessories for the dudes, and that retro-looking stationery with the naughty captions for ourselves. The store is now much more open in design, and while they've pared down the home decor stuff, they've brought in a lot more bags and costume jewellery and spa stuff, not to mention a lot of gifts for kids, which is important to indulgent auntie-types like me.

I've been wanting to check this place out for the past 5 years (I've heard very good things). Since I knew it was in North Van, part of me always imagined it to be on the Lonsdale Quay and not in Deep Cove (I haven't been to the Cove in years, shame on me). Quel surprise to stumble across this amazing shop. The jewelry and accessories are gawk-worthy and the Goddess hand cremes transformed my stinky hiker self into a decadent-smelling diva. The store is beyond cute, you really must come. It's a girly place filled with fun gifts for self and others. Great place to swing by while in the Cove! Awesome factor x100: they carry these really cute/hilariously rude cartoon cards!

The beautiful Black woman (I forgot to ask her name) managing the store at the time was SO helpful because I scoured the selection looking for a Get Well Soon balloon and I was about to give up and go with something generic (like a fire truck or train or Transformers - they have those too!), she found me exactly what I wanted!! Also picked up two Canada flags for $4. The inflated balloon was just under $7.

I had heard that Clever Mink's had a bit of cult following in New Westminster, but I was…read moreunderwhelmed. The store feels understocked even for its small size, and I can't put my finger on why, but it lacked the power of surprise and delight I normally look for in a gift shop. They have the usual sorts of things - candles, greeting cards, toys, little novelties such as funny magnets, and tea - but I just wasn't feeling it. Maybe stuff was too cutesy? Your mileage may vary. On the bright side, however, the service is cheerful, and whoever writes the website does a bang-up job on droll humour. Clever Mink's is worth a visit if you're in the area (just around the corner from Douglas College and a block from the courthouse), but not a destination.

I can always find the perfect gift for anyone on my list, from my 5 year old, to my friends, to my grandma. She LOVED her scarf for her birthday! The t-shirts are always a hit! I am also a huge hit at birthday parties when I come with the clever and hilarious cards I can find at Clever Minks. I had 8 weddings to attend last fall and the cards and gifts from the store were perfect. Another great thing about this store is it is dog friendly. The owner is great when I bring in my pooch. It makes for a nice stop on our walks. I am not sure "cutesy" would be the words to describe the store. I would choose eclectic and unique. Fair prices and quality goods. It is definitely worth a visit. I also love supporting a small, local business.

They have lots of makeup/masks and spooky decor for smaller parties, but if you want to do Halloweekend right and have the cash to burn, this place has a whole room filled with animatronic clowns, zombies, ghosts, and old people (cuz old people are scary let's face it). The pricetags on these pieces are obviously in the triple digits, but some of them are so creepy that the dollars spent will be worth the look of fear on your friend's face while they run from your house crying and leaving a snail trail behind them. Even if you can't afford to drop a fat wad on decorations, you should make a pitstop here and check out the goods.

Have you ever wondered who are the artists behind the beautiful looking chairs at weddings and…read moreother events? Well this home based business has been a blessing to my wedding budget and I can't wait for them to do my wedding. As it's a home based business I did not include their home address but they are in Surrey and very easy to get to from my side of the Pattullo Bridge. As I only have very limited time to decorate for the wedding, actually my friends have a very limited time frame to do it, I decided to get the chair covers and sashes professionally done for me. In researching for this one part that I am having a professional do, aside from catering, I was amazed at how expensive it is to have a chair covered and a sash added. It's also hard to find a place that covers folding chairs which is what is provided at the hall I am having my wedding ceremony and reception at. Today I went to the home of the owner, Gary Grewal, and it was so painless. It was easy to do the order and they have the colours I need. They do require a 25% deposit but I paid 50% because I want to get most of the costs out of the way before I get to the date. The home office was nicely set up and I feel very comfortable dealing with this company. I was most excited to see the price tag for Dream Decorators to provide this service. I am easily saving at least $1.50 per chair and in that savings I am not compromising any quality. If you need this kind of service for any event I would definitely recommend this company. UPDATE: Now that the wedding is over I will tell you that they were fantastic. Gary came in at 930 am to set up and was back at 11pm to take down. Granted most of my guests had helped before he got there but they were great and I will definitely recommend them!

Excellent job done and experience overall!…read more I recently had my wedding reception at the Hilton hotel in Burnaby so me and my new bride went on the hunt for a wedding decorator who would fit within our budget. We got in touch with Gary, who's a very nice person and extremely helpful throughout the whole process. We gave him our simple vision and asked for input. He provided a lot of great suggestions and quickly provided us a quote for everything we were looking for. To say the least, we were more than happy to learn the total price for our reception decor as we had chosen to go all out, at least to our standards! They are very fair-priced and we were absolutely delighted to see the end-result on our wedding night. It looked absolutely beautiful and we couldn't have been more happy. Highly recommended and will be using Dream Decorators again in the future!
