They are normally very good if you want to see someone right away to discuss opening a bank account of problem with your account etc. They help you use the self service machine if you dont know how to use them. They seem very organized downstairs and becuase of this if you do need to know to the counters upstairs there is not normally a queue. They also have a business counter so you can skip the queuse if you are a business customer and get seen right away.

Because it is the main branch, and is located centrally, it is very busy, and you should allow plenty of time to queue for the counters. Staff do try and reduce queues by showing people how to use the automated machines, but the queues are still quite long. For those needing to see a personal banker, you need to allow plenty of time for waiting around, although thankfully they do provide comfortable seating while you wait. If you have a large bank balance, you seem to get seen quicker - something that really doesn't happen to me that often! My advice would be to avoid lunchtimes and Fridays, and if possible try and use one of the smaller city branches.

An interesting fact to know is one of the only cash points that give £5 notes. The staff are friendly and always want to help. They have a very posh area upstairs for business customers. Downstairs thery are desks for people to discuss insurance, mortgage etc and also counters to pay money etc. They also have a cutomer service desk, and facilities to ring up the telephone banking and use internet banking.
